A Fabulous Getaway

December 31st, 2008 @ 9:24 am by Mrs. Glitter

One element of the wedding we will not be partaking in is the getaway. Why no getaway? Because we are having our ceremony and reception in the same hotel, and the honeymoon suite is (yep, you guessed it!)… in the very same hotel. I’m a little sad because I always envisioned a Hollywood movie ending to our wedding complete with sparklers and a hot vintage ride. (Not that it would have really happened, but a girl can always dream!)

Here are some pictures of what I envisioned:

Sparklers!

I love the flowers in this one.

I heart this car! Can I keep it?

For those of you who will have a proper getaway - will you rent a fabulous car? Will you use your own car? Please indulge me, as I must live vicariously through you!

I am in the same boat! (everything happening in the same place) Oh well - hopefully our honeymoon suite won’t be RIGHT NEXT to any of our guests’ rooms at least! :)

we might actually borrow a friend’s car for the getaway- the only issue for us is finding someone to drive!

I’m hoping to rent a vintage car and surprise FH :) We’re purposely not staying in the same hotel as our guest (which has turned out to be a pain b/c most of our guest are staying at one of our favorite hotels) so we can have a getaway :)

We’re doing a slow getaway with a horse and carriage. We’re staying on site too, but the cabins are far enough away that we get to use the horse and carriage.

I’m excited, because we’ve helped FSIL do weddings with them before, and now finally we get to use them!

We want to have some “grand exit” shots, but we are also doing everything in one place! I think we might just do a shot of us exiting the building with the bridal party on the outside, that way it will be easy to organize.

For get away cars (we aren’t staying at our venue) I would love to rent a Shelby GT 500 Mustang, the car that I designed the color & materials for! That would be awesome.

We had our guests line up outside our reception with sparklers, while we ran out to my fiance’s ‘95 corvette. It was so fun! And the pictures are amazing!

i had the same problem. we ended up having the guests shower us with petals during our processional so we could at least get some of those photos. we had a really good response. the guests loved it. and the photos turned out beautifully.

@katherine: Same problem here too. We just have to walk across the street from the venue tent to the hotel, although they are on the same property. Showering during the processional sounds good–did you give flowers to everyone or just those on the ends?

Miss Glitter—are you having any type of getaway? I’m thinking about bicycles or something similar. I’d love to do a rickshaw!

@doctorgirl: A horse and carriage?! That sounds amazing!!
@Miss Taffy: You designed the color and materials for the Shelby Mustang?!? Once Mr. G hears that he will be your new best friend. How awesome are you?! :)
@katherine: I love that idea!!
@Sarah: We may stage a getaway, like other gals have suggested - with sparklers or flower petals. I love the idea of bicycles!! Hmm, me on a beach cruiser in my dress and heels…that would be a scene worth getting a picture of!

we just gave them to the people on the ends. the minister asked the guest so shower us with the petals when we left.

there were enough in the containers we used for the last two or three people closest to the aisle to throw.
