About Ms Fondue

Happy 2009, Everyone!

January 2nd, 2009 @ 3:43 pm by Ms Fondue

I hope everyone had a great holiday season!

I have several cool things to share with you in the coming weeks, including bridesmaid dress shopping (although I’m still waiting on some photos Mama Fondue took) and my fauxtobooth epiphany. However, I’m still recovering from New Year’s Eve, so all you’re getting today is some photos of my New Year’s party decor. ;)

Most of it was based on designs from the Hostess with the Mostess site, so I won’t take credit for it. I went with a red and silver color scheme to match my house (which is mostly decorated in red, black, and white–can you tell these are our favorite colors?). I always decorate my Christmas tree with red and silver, as well, so it gives the added bonus of being able to reuse a lot of the stuff for next Christmas.

You can see here that I did some of the Martha Stewart pom-poms above the bar, although I used less tissue paper so they are a little flatter. I was also in a major hurry when I was trying to do all of this stuff.

Here’s a view of the table before a ton of food was put on it. Wrapping paper was used as a table runner. It would have worked best on a square or rectangular table, but since I was doing set-up in about two hours, I didn’t have time to move my rectangular table downstairs.

I cut up some silver bead garland to attach to the champagne glasses.

The centerpiece cost less than $15 thanks to after Christmas sales at Hobby Lobby. I cut strips of cardstock in both silver and red and pinned them to the candles. The numbers are just silver stickers.

The party itself was pretty crazy, complete with someone deciding to shake up a bottle of champagne and spraying it all over my living room (everything is really sticky now) and someone else lighting off fireworks in my front yard, but I think the only real casualties were a champagne glass and an Xbox 360 memory card (which we think someone stepped on).

How did you ring in the New Year?

We went to a friends house which turned out to be at least 50 ppl! It was sooo much fun! We had two tvs outside, one with wii and one with rockband 2. There were three different rooms for different games, a quite room for the adults and of course tons of food in the kitchen! Then we had fireworks, a firepit outside and had the volleyball court lite up!!! It was a blast!!!

The candle centerpiece turned out great! When I saw the picture I figured you bought it was the numbers already on there!

I love the candles!! I think you could do those for table numbers!! I’ve seen a few things that are like that but more complicated and those are really great looking. They look very classy and expensive. I like the garland on the glasses too - how exciting and fun.
We just stayed at home with my daughter and passed out before the ball dropped.
We decided that next year we will not work so much at the end of the year so we can enjoy New Year’s the right way.
But I say that any night when we are all home and safe and jsut together, is a good night!
