Mrs. Glitter, Los Angeles Age and Occupation: 27, Research Consultant/Writer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Accounting Engagement Date: May 6, 2007 Wedding Date: June, 2009 Venue: Millenium Biltmore Hotel About Me: I was born and raised in West Los Angeles, California. I spent eight years in the Northeast working and completing my education. Having split time between two sides of the country has given me a true appreciation for both coasts. It has also provided an overabundance of cross country drives, flights and long distance relationship fun/misery! I love my family, my doggy Emma, fabulous wine, Anthropologie, politics, reading, being outdoors, exploring new cities, and good movies! My fiance and I are complete opposites, but somehow we have managed to fall completely and hopelessly in love.

My Favorite Wedding Movies

January 3rd, 2009 @ 11:35 am by Mrs. Glitter

I love a good wedding movie. Always have, always will. Here are some of my all-time favorites.

Father of the Bride: This movie is a classic. I watched it a few nights ago. Still lovin’ it.

Four Weddings and a Funeral: My eighth grade teacher got in trouble for showing us this movie in class. I went to Catholic school. Need I remind anyone that the first 20 words of this movie are the F-word?

g1

Wedding Crashers: Coincidentally, they filmed scenes from this movie at our wedding venue!

My Big Fat Greek Wedding: Don’t need to be Greek to love this one; just have to have a quirky, crazy family!

A couple recent ones…
Made of Honor: Patrick Dempsey being cute. Best first kiss scene… when they kiss at the bar in Scotland during her bachelorette party. Nice.

Rachel Getting Married: Serious, but great depiction of a family and a wedding.

I swear I am not a representative for Netflix or Blockbuster. Just a sucker for a good wedding movie. I know I’m missing some. What are your favorite wedding movies?

My absolute favorites are Father of the Bride, 27 Dresses, Made of Honor, and it isn’t really a wedding movie, but I love the wedding in Love Actually, the music at the end of the ceremony is such an amazing surprise.

A movie that came to mind for me was Steel Magnolias, though it’s not really a wedding movie. Whenever I think of wedding colors I think of her! Father of the Bride has to be the #1 best wedding movie ever!!

My Best Friend’s Wedding, In Her Shoes (okay not really a wedding movie), Monsoon Wedding (My Big Fat Greek Wedding done Indian style), 27 Dresses, The Wedding Singer, and Wedding Crashers. I’m sure there are more but I can’t think of them right now…

I bought my dad and step dad copies of Father of the Bride as a “thank you in advance” when my fiance and I got engaged. They loved it!

My Best Friend’s Wedding is the same story as Made of Honor, but told much better. Who doesn’t love a sing-a-long in a restaurant?

Definitely Father of the Bride, as you said, and also My Best Friend’s Wedding! Love that one. Confetti is also a good one - different, but I love it.

Great post! Coincidentally, I was just writing an email to my girlfriends who are coming over next weekend for a weekend of wedding crafting and wedding movies! I would add to that list: My Best Friend’s Wedding (I agree with Alison that it’s the same premise as Made of Honor but done better), 27 Dresses, Runaway Bride, and Sweet Home Alabama. I’ve never seen Four Weddings and a Funeral…maybe I’ll netflix it for next weekend. Thanks for the post, Miss Glitter!

How the heck did I miss My Best Friend’s Wedding?!? I agree, Made of Honor, is a not so great knock-off…but I can’t help but be happy that he got the girl in the end. :)

A tie between “The Best Man” and “27 dresses”, hands down.

My #1 is Wedding Singer and after that would probably be Wedding Crashers. I could watch those movies all day.

Tonight on TNT My Big Fat Greek Wedding is going to be on, Monster In Law, and The Wedding Date for anyone who’s craving a wedding movie night.

I agree with Newport Nuptials re: Love Actually. It is my favorite wedding and Christmas movie that I watch all year round :)

And though it is kinda cheesey- I like the Wedding Planner with J Lo.

I definitely agree with 27 Dresses, and LOVED The Wedding Date. Also, don’t forget the wedding from Kill Bill (technically not a wedding movie, but who doesn’t love to see a bunch of girls kicking butt?) And of course, The Notebook - I mean, what an amazing love story. It makes me cry every time.

I thought Kiss the Bride was a pretty sweet independent film about a wedding.

I will second all the movies listed above and add Runaway Bride for its great variety of weddings. I will add that I love “The Perfect Dress” episode of the Gilmore Girls and I hope someone turns Lorelai’s almost wedding into an inspiration board!

@dckatiebug: I loved Muriel’s Wedding! I remember thinking Toni Collette was amazing. I think it was one of her first movies?

And 27 Dresses is a good one, too! I watched part of it last night on HBO. You guys definitely know lots about wedding movies! :)

I love a good wedding movie. I’m hoping that “Bride Wars” is going to be another fun one. The previews look funny.
