Mrs. Glitter, Los Angeles Age and Occupation: 27, Research Consultant/Writer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Accounting Engagement Date: May 6, 2007 Wedding Date: June, 2009 Venue: Millenium Biltmore Hotel About Me: I was born and raised in West Los Angeles, California. I spent eight years in the Northeast working and completing my education. Having split time between two sides of the country has given me a true appreciation for both coasts. It has also provided an overabundance of cross country drives, flights and long distance relationship fun/misery! I love my family, my doggy Emma, fabulous wine, Anthropologie, politics, reading, being outdoors, exploring new cities, and good movies! My fiance and I are complete opposites, but somehow we have managed to fall completely and hopelessly in love.
About Mrs. Glitter

A two-year engagement has given us oodles of time to think about our honeymoon. (Yes, I said oodles.) We are mostly set on Europe. Mr. G has never been to Europe and is dying to go. I have been to a few European countries, but have never been to Italy and want to partake in a romantic Italian escape. However, I will return to thoughts on a Roman Holiday in a future post.

Right now I’m interested in honeymoon dreams. I like dreaming. It doesn’t necessarily have to happen any time soon. Think about places you have always wanted to go, but for whatever reason, you have never been. For me, one of those places is Japan… specifically Tokyo and Okinawa. Mr. G has traveled extensively throughout South Korea and China, but he’s never been to Japan. And, although it’s where my ancestors hail from… I’ve never been!

Tokyo: Who goes to Japan and doesn’t visit Tokyo?! Mr. G and I are slightly obsessed with every image we glimpse of this amazing city…

Okinawa: My Mom’s side of the family is from Okinawa. It would be a great excuse to visit long lost relatives and have the proper tropical honeymoon experience complete with clear blue water and white sand.

The Honeymoon: Excuses to Daydream : wedding honeymoon los angeles Okinawa01 Another place I’ve been obsessed with visiting is South America (specifically Argentina and Peru). Why? I don’t know. It’s just on my random list of places I want to go. Mr. G doesn’t really object to my South American dream because it allows him to envision hot, modelesque Brazilian women running on the beach. (I’m kidding, honey… kinda!)

If I could do my mini-version of the Around the World in 80 Days Honeymoon, we’d have Japan on our list and South America as well.

Some pictures to get your imaginations going…

Buenos Aires, Argentina: I’ve read article after article about this place. It’s like Europe, except it’s South America. Huh? I think I must investigate for myself!

Street Tango in Buenos Aires. Fun!

The Honeymoon: Excuses to Daydream : wedding honeymoon los angeles Buenos Teatro Colon, one of the world’s great opera houses according to Lonely Planet.

Lima, Peru: Strangely enough, I have distant family in Peru. Another excuse to go there someday!

Lima is the largest city in the whole country.

Machu Picchu is a must see.

While I always love the idea of sitting on a beach all day for a vacation, I also adore the thought of getting lost in unknown cities and frolicking through a nation’s history. This post helps me to remember that there is so much out there that I have yet to explore. I hope one day Mr. G and I are lucky enough to visit just one of these places.

What are your dream spots? Have fun with it and don’t think about budgets or responsibility or weather or whatever. Where would you go?

Dreaming=A year off to travel around the world. Reality, a “mini moon” that he is planning as a surprise (likely Nappa Valley) and a 2 week trip to South America during Christmas vacation ‘09.

Oh P.S. I only say “practically speaking’ b/c my FFIL/FMIL have timeshare at those places, and we’re able to use that for our honeymoon :)

I’ve been to both Tokyo and Okinawa. In fact, I lived in Tokyo for 10 months! Here’s some photos to fuel your fantasies:

Oooohhh Japan would be way up on my list! Especially if money were no issue… because that’s the biggest issue when it comes to Japan! I’d also love to take a Mediterranean cruise!

If you want a romantic idea for south america, Cartagena, Colombia (call it a pit-stop to Buenos Aires?) is supposed to be the best!
It’s on the Caribbean, is safe!, and has old castles! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cartagena,_Colombia
the FI and I are going there for vaca soon! (we live in Chile).
Also, Bariloche in Argentina is supposed to be dreamy!

I would love to visit Poland, especially Krakow. I’m at least 80% Polish, so I would love to explore my heritage. Also Australia, and South America. And I can’t forget about Italy and France, the list goes on….

West Coast bride

Ooooh fun! New Zealand, Brazil, Bora Bora, Singapore, Thailand…ok, basically, I have A LOT of travelling that I want to do with West Coast Groom over the course of our lives. We both have a pretty long running list of trips we want to take, and we decided we REALLY wanted our honeymoon to be one of the biggies for us, without losing the romance, relaxation and celebration of our relationship as the central reason for the trip. Ergo, 20 day Western European trip, starting in Amsterdam and ending in Barcelona. Cannot wait!

My dream, money no object honeymoon spot is either a Med. cruise (Egypt, Israel, Turkey, Greece, Italy) or a photo safari. The first one would probably win because I could look cuter/ get tanner.

Oh yeah I think I’d like to go to the Czech republic too (Thanks for the reminder Karen!)… Mr. Peng’s family actually has a Castle right outside of Prague… oooo fancy right? It’s actually just a tourist castle now but I suppose we should storm it and take it back for the family ;)
