About Mrs. Quiche

“…as a great big ring on Elizabeth Taylor’s finger.”

- Andy Warhol

Mr. Quiche and I had so much fun designing my ring. We both agreed that the ring didn’t need to be a surprise, as long as the proposal was (and was it ever!).

I absolutely love the Tiffany Legacy ring, and we used this as our inspiration.

I have long, skinny fingers and we saw this rectangle stone and fell in love. It is a cushion cut setting, surrounded by small diamonds, and diamonds on all three sides of the band. I like that it sits up high so that the wedding band will fit flush against and under the engagement band. Taking the advice of Anne Ruthmann, I attempted to photograph my engagement ring as well. I used my Canon EOS Rebel DSLR, but am not that happy with the results (especially after seeing the pictures of other Bees and WB Readers! Yours are all fantastic!).

When I first showed Mama Quiche my ring, she exclaimed,“It looks like the Eiffel Tower!” which I hadn’t noticed. Quite appropriate for me, though. ;)

I liked all of the silver and sparkles on my snowflake stocking holder!

I may be doing something wrong, so I am going to give it another go this weekend. It wasn’t very sunny the day I took these!

Miss Quiche- my ring looks so similar to yours! I have a round brilliant diamond in the center and not a cushion cut, with diamonds on all three sides as well. The legacy was also our inspiration! However, I am now struggling with making a decision about the wedding band because so many jewelers have told me that it’s bad to have a wedding band rub against the diamonds on the side because they could fall out so easily. Are you going with a matching band to wear with your e-ring or going the right-hand-wedding-band route like I am?

Gorgeous! As for photo tips, I’m no expert, but I think you are choosing backgrounds that conflict with the ring. Maybe try a more neutral, earthy setup, so the ring really pops?

@sayithot: Yes, I am going with a matching band. Our jeweler mentioned that, about the little diamonds rubbing up against each other, but said that it should be fine if they are set right!

Thanks everyone :)

Good suggestion about using a more contrasting background! I will try it!

Wow Miss Quiche! I love your ring! Our rings are very similar because my ring is the Tiffany Legacy ring. You were spot on earlier :)

Also in random land, I took a ring pic on a very similar eiffel tower - but alas had focusing issues as well!!!

if the lighting is dim, try upping your ISO, and keep your aperture as open as you can….this will also help blur the background…

@jackie: You’re right. The shutter speed was just so slow that everything was blurry! I should have pulled out my tripod, but didn’t feel like going down to the garage to get it. Lazy, I know, I know. :)

@Miss D’orsay: & I just love your ring! Funny about doing the Eiffel Tower shot as well! Post it!
