About Mrs. Spring Roll

New Year, New Hair

January 6th, 2009 @ 5:28 pm by Mrs. Spring Roll

As with every New Year, 2009 will bring many changes. I will rent a home with Mr. Spring Roll, become Mrs. Spring Roll, turn 24, and hopefully welcome a new niece or nephew (hint hint Sister Spring Roll).

Sister SR, Gavin (Sister SR’s stepson), and me on New Year’s Eve.

The biggest change thus far?

Stripping my black hair and dying it medium copper brown!

Okay, so it may not seem like a huge change, but it is to me. You see, I was a blonde (yes, me) up until six years ago. I dyed my hair black for a boyfriend that wanted me to do so. To make a long story short, he wasn’t a very good person and our relationship ended a couple of months after I dyed my hair. I liked my dark hair, but it made me feel as if he still had some sort of control over me. Regardless, it was time for change. Although it was crazy of me to change my hair color so close to our wedding, it turned out well.

Embarrassing proof that I was indeed blonde:

What changes will 2009 bring for you?

Wow, I was not expecting that! It looks great!
I’ve been coloring my hair black for about nine years, and sometimes I think about going back to my natural color, but I am always scared of stripping it. How long did it take?

@Miss Taffy: It didn’t take as long as I thought it would; only a little over an hour :)

Ooo I love your new hair color, it is really pretty :)
I know what you mean about not wanting to keep your hair black after you broke-up… I’ve gotten drastic hair cuts after two break-ups b/c they weren’t there to ask me to keep my hair long anymore.

Haha, I kept my hair short for an ex-boyfriend - then grew it out really long after the bad breakup. I understand!

The new color looks great!!! (And you may not want to hear it - but the blond is beautiful, too!)

Did you do it at home or go to a professional? I tried stripping my hair years ago with terrible results, but I still think about it from time to time. I was a blonde too and now have very dark brown hair.

I feel you on the hair changing…I’m that girl who used to totally chop all her hair off everytime there was a life altering event. LoL. Lucky you to be able to go light and dark! I’m envious!

@Mrs. Penguin: I wish I could pull off Firey red :) For now, I am going to stay with this color.

@ckonkle: I went to the salon; it took a little over an hour to remove the black.

@angela: I had my hair stripped at the salon :)
