Oh Happy Day: Karaoke!

January 6th, 2009 @ 4:37 pm by Mrs. Toucan

Erm… Happy Belated New Year! I really wanted to finish up all my recap posts before 2008, but alas, I failed! So, how about I finish them up in 2009 instead?! :)

We had a few unplanned moments on our wedding day, but none was as fun as this one — our DJ brought along equipment for karaoke! At first, our guests were a little hesitant to participate, but after offering up the table centerpieces a prizes, people started coming to the mic.

The first song chosen was a good one, and a Boston favorite—Sweet Caroline! Some of the people in the “audience” even got into it!

After a while, we had some more volunteers! The kids sang…

The bridal party sang…

The guys sang…

And the girls sang…

We even had one brave solo act… Michael Bolton’s “When a Man Loves a Woman”.

Mr. Toucan thought it was only fitting that he joined him… :)

Karaoke ended up being super fun, and I’m glad our DJs brought along their equipment! Who knew our guests would provide us with some free entertainment?!

We were trying to think of something fun to add to ours, but all I could come up with was Dance Dance Revolution and I didn’t want to be all sweaty in my wedding dress :)

Hahaha this is too awesome. What an awesome surprise! I would have had to drink A LOT to sing something. Esp. at my own wedding! Props to Mr. T!!!

karaoke is all too common at Vietnamese receptions! Suddenly, it’s every old man/woman singing their soul songs (the one song they can sing really well) and it has nothing to do with happiness/weddings!

I love that! I was thinking of doing that for my reception, perhaps near the end when everyone has had a couple of drinks…..
