Crinny Part II

January 9th, 2009 @ 12:22 pm by Mrs. Crab Cake

If y’all will think back to when I first started blogging for Weddingbee, you’ll remember my post about color, and how I failed miserably at my first attempt to dye my crinoline. I am very pleased to announce that the second attempt went much better.

I have a pink crinoline now.

Yes, those are beer bottles in my bathtub. Later, I promise. That bathroom is sooo sad. We’ve been in this house a year, and it hasn’t changed a bit!! Anyway…

I was amazed at how well this go-round worked out. I only let the thing agitate for one round. It is honestly a little pinker than I really wanted it to be, but I’m not complaining after what happened last time. I’m kinda glad I got my fittings out of the way before I dyed my crinoline; I think the seamstress might have had a stroke when she lifted my gown and found a bright pink crinoline.

I ultimately decided not to have colored shoes. I was too nervous about the pinks not matching. I just decided champagne to match my gown was a better color choice. I think after the wedding, I’ll probably take them back to the store and have them re-dyed in some kind of fantastic color.

Are you considering a colored crinoline? What color? Any dyeing tips you’d like to share with the hive?

Hey what fabric is your crinny? I remember that being important to the dye process. And can you give us the deets on how you did it this time if you did anything differently?

I love the crinny! The color is quite lovely :)

I definitely wanted to dye my crinny, but then I decided to wear colored shoes. Our colors are teal and kiwi/dark lime green - and I’m wearing teal shoes. Now I’m wondering if it might be too much to have a green crinny AND teal shoes…

Love it! And the color will just make it POP even more! I wonder if I can stuff a crinoline under my dress…

Is it weird that the beer bottles in the bathtub didn’t phase me at all? lol. DH makes wine. We now have enough room that he has dedicated space - but in our previous (tiny!) apartment, he did it wherever he could! We had alcohol paraphernalia all over the place.

Cute crinoline! I didn’t wear one - otherwise I definitely would have dyed it!

I love this! However, I have a different problem. I am trying to wear my mother’s wedding dress (which is a very distinct shade of ivory - almost yellowy). However, I want mine white or at least just off-white. I cannot find any ideas how to do this without risking the dress!! Anyone heard of this dilemma before?? Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Wow! I don’t like pink at all but I would totally wear that! It looks amazing. I’m definitely waiting to hear the fabric and any other details you’re willing to share, as I’m thinking about dying mine too - probably purple since it’s my favorite color!
