The DJ Search

January 9th, 2009 @ 3:34 pm by Mrs. Deviled Egg

I love Mr. Deviled Egg! Of course I do, or I wouldn’t be marrying him. Mr. DE is super sweet and wonderful in about a gazillion ways. The most recent reason is… (drum roll, please)

He’s researching DJs!

Yes, Mr. DE is helping with the planning by calling around to a few DJs to get an idea of packages and prices. I appreciated it so much when he offered to do this, and was even more appreciative when he started placing some calls yesterday.

The DJ research is one area where I just couldn’t get the ball rolling.

I was given the phone number for a recommended DJ months ago and I never called him. I did make a call to another one a week or two ago, but nothing really came of it. And, we checked some out at a bridal fair in the fall (yes, Mr. DE has gone to bridal fairs with me!) and the prices of Pittsburgh DJs were less than to be desired. (I guess the city address comes with the city price tag.) I was left thinking (and knowing) there were more affordable options out there. I just didn’t feel like doing the research. And having a Sunday wedding feeds the procrastination. I haven’t come across a DJ yet who isn’t booked on our date, so what’s the rush?

Well, the rush is that we are less than 20 weeks away from the big day. I guess we need to get moving on securing our last few vendors as we head towards the home stretch. And I couldn’t be happier that Mr. DE is helping with this aspect.

Did you pass any ’dreaded tasks’ along to your fiance? What were they, and did he come through?

Miss Deviled Egg, my fiance handled the DJ research, too! As a music fanatic, he was perfect for the job.

He also took care of booking a limo and planning our honeymoon - tasks I was more than happy to pass on!

I’m interested in finding out who you end up booking from Pittsburgh.

P.S. How great is that dog spinning some beats?

Yes. Mr. MagPie did our hotel block (and wedding night room) research, as well as limo research. He’s also taking the lead on the honeymoon (Italy) planning, because he’s a much better trip-planner than me — go figure!

Early on when we got engaged it was agreed that my husband would take care of the music (being a former DJ himself) and our honeymoon while I took care of the other wedding details (color, invitations, flowers..you know the girly stuff). It actually worked out great with many nice surprises along the way.

Although it’s not a “dreaded task”, I did happily pass on the food choices/decisions to Mr. G. He loves good food, and I knew he would be very passionate about our menu.

Mr. PN dealt with the bus and rehersal dinner. And, in the last month before the wedding he pretty much took over everything because I was feeling so stressed and strapped for time with my new job! Aren’t boys great sometimes :)
