On Christmas day, I opened my only present, a card, under the tree. Not just any card, but a beautiful card telling me that he wanted us to become a family this summer. I’ve been a single mom now for five years. My son is 10, and I’ve put him first always. I didn’t think I’d get married again muchless ever fall head over heels in love after heartbreak, but I did! He’s a wonderful man and will not only become my husband this year, but he’s thrilled to become a step-dad and loves my son so very much.
We’ve dubbed my Christmas gift/engagement trip the “Engagi-moon” because although we both will plan the destination for the 3 day mini-vacation, only he will know the time, details, and exact place of when the ring will be placed on my finger!
The date of our engagi-moon will be either the last weekend of February or the first weekend of March, but officially our families were told of our plans to marry last fall. All that’s missing now is the ring and the moment!
I’ve already been planning our wedding and enjoyed bloging about it too! Our wedding is going to be in August. The Mindy Weiss Ultimate Organizer would definitely go to good use because I will only have five months to finalize our wedding plans after we return from our trip!
The day we decided to get married was sometime around January 20, 2008. The date we told our friends & family was around May 19th. We had our engagement party on August 8th. The day H2B officially got on 1 knee and proposed to me with my beautiful ring was Dec. 15th.

I got engaged last Thursday, on New Year’s day, after being with my boy for four years. He surprised me with a trip to the N. Carolina mountains, we stayed in a tiny cabin, and went fake snow tubing! I couldn’t be more excited to finally read WeddingBee and feel included. Yay!

We were engaged December 29, 2007 and our wedding is June 13, 2009. We were slated to travel and arrive at my parents home 5 days before Christmas. The plan he had was to hang the ring on the Christmas tree…hoping on Christmas morning it would catch my eye. Well…..our airline apparently stopped flying the first leg of our flight (completely…no airplanes at all)….and they did not notify us. We showed up for our flight and were notified that we didn’t have a flight! To make a long story short, we ended up with a totally different flight schedule….several days later…and it left us sleeping in the Seattle airport on Christmas eve. We arrived the night of Christmas day….foiling his plans. Instead, he chose to propose the night that we went out to dinner with my parents to celebrate their 43rd anniversary….after Christmas. I was so surprised and I was happy to be with my parents to celebrate. A very memorable series of events!
November 20, 2008. He surprised me during my semester studying in Barcelona and proposed in front of Palau Nacional (my favorite spot in the whole city!)
We got engaged April 1/08 (April Fool’s Day)… He proposed with a ring pop and I thought it was a joke!
I got engaged on morning of New Years Eve, 12/31/08, which is the same date as our dating anniversary. My boyfriend took me to the Brooklyn Bridge in NYC, with a cup of hot coffee in hand, and wanted to watch the sunrise. I thought it was a romantic way to celebrate our 9 years together. After the sun rise, while I was taking pictures of the cityscape, he pulled out the ring and proposed!

We were engaged on our two year anniversary (May 13, 2008) and have an April 2009 wedding planned.
We just got engaged this fall! We designed my ring together and had it custom made, and it made it onto my finger on December 17, 2008!

On 12-23-08 Eric proposed in a way the was so….well, so us! I actually believe he was trying to start a fight with me as part of his proposal! I had made no secret of the fact that I expected for us to be engaged soon and was hoping for a proposal soon. He made me believe he felt bad that he couldn’t afford a ring and that he hoped I wouldn’t be disappointed in my Christmas gifts. Of course, the reality is I was just happy to have him as my gift every Christmas so I didn’t take the bait of saying I’d be upset if he didn’t have a ring. He continued on saying “Well, what if we never get married? Will you eventually kick me to the curb?” I assured him that I loved him no matter what and a ring wouldn’t stop me from being with him. The conversation carried on like that for a few minutes and then all of a sudden he turned around with a ring in his hand and said “Will you marry me?”
I was so caught off guard that it took me a few seconds to fully understand what had happened. I said “Are you serious?” about 5 times (which he now jokes about all the time) and of course said yes!
I got engaged on October 12, 2007… but I won’t be married until October 11, 2009. Talk about a LONGGGG engagement!!! I am definitely ready to be married already!!
I got engaged on 16 August 2008, at the Olympics in Beijing, in the Birds Nest stadium, moments after Usain Bolt had won gold and broken the 100m world record. Unexpected, amazing, and v special as I was an Olympian in Athens in 2004 (now retired!). Am still smiling, yay!

We became engaged on December 25, 2006 he was a nervous wreck and circling around the dining room table but with all the family there I didnt ask him what was wrong well it turns out he was just building up the courage to ask me on bended knee in front of our whole family were talking about 30 people atleast and when I was turning around from picking up all the wrapping paper on the floor he turned around and we were knee deep in wrapping paper to tell me he loved me and if I would marry him to be married June 12, 2010
Christmas truly is a magical time for me, and always has been. I make a fuss over hanging lights, decorating trees, listening to Christmas tunes (especially Elvis), and adhering to the advent calendar. Growing up in Pennsylvania, Christmas was ever present between the snow storms, cutting down your own tree in the woods, and the crisp cold weather. Since moving to Arizona, I have sometimes felt the lack of the Christmas spirit due in large part to the warm weather and it just not feeling like Christmas without the cold weather, snow and my family. Because of this, I had created a journal to document one thing daily throughout the month of December that made it feel like Christmas. Whether it be the first time the weather got cold enough to turn on the heat in the morning on my way to work, putting up the Christmas tree, or even just a fun Christmas movie I watched that day, I was documenting “My Christmas 2008.”
Scott and I have a tradition every year of exchanging Christmas gifts alone on Christmas Eve and watching It’s A Wonderful Life. It is our own private celebration of the magic of Christmas, knowing that Christmas day is spent traveling from one relative’s house to another to enjoy the day with family. On Christmas Eve, after eating dinner and enjoying a nice bottle of wine we sat on the dining room floor with the glow from our Christmas tree as our only source of light and turned on some festive music. I gave Scott his gifts: a shirt and a DVD of his favorite HBO series. Then it was my turn. I opened them all until there was only one small box left. Before opening the box, Scott said to me “Where is your December journal?” When I asked why he said “because I think you might want it for this next one.” I was confused, but I smiled and got my journal and then sat back down and placed it on my lap. He then said “go ahead and open it to today” When I opened the journal to the 24th, the page was already complete. The page was decorated with a black and pink glittery letters that spelled out “will you marry me?” and completed with a smiling Santa staring back at me.
I began to cry uncontrollably. After several minutes of holding each other and sobbing, he reminded me there was one last gift for me to open. The box was small…..I was sure it was a ring. As I slowly unwrapped the package, Scott explained to me that there was no ring in there but that we would have to pick it out together. Inside the box was a beautiful crystal ring holder. As I opened the last package, Santa Baby was playing throughout the house and the part when she says “forgot to mention one little thing, a ring” played as I opened the box which contained the glass ring dish. He always remember the details!
Not too much later in the evening, Scott reminded me that we had not yet opened our advent calendars for the day. He brought my calendar over to me as I still sat by the tree. I opened day 24 on the calendar and the ring fell out. I began to cry once again and hugged Scott so hard and he began to cry as well.
We are planning on a March 2010 wedding.
yes, i would like to see a update post to all those who applied when the winner is selected. I’ve entered a lot of contests on w.b and barely discovered the contests menu.
I just want to thank Gracious Bridal and Weddingbee for choosing me. The planner will be such a wonderful addition and I adore the rhinestone “I Do” crystals for the bottom of the shoe..and the pen is adorable!
There will definitely be several “shoe shots” at the wedding and I can’t wait to show off the bottoms of my shoes now!
