My Bat-chelorette Shower-Mitzvah!

January 13th, 2009 @ 5:00 pm by Mrs. Hot Cocoa

Here is me at the first bar mitzvah I ever attended (no, that’s not a lamp shade around my ass, that is what we in 1990 called “fashion”):

And here’s me at my own bat-chelorette shower-mitzvah almost 19 years later:

This weekend my uber-fabulous sisters and friends of honor threw me a “Bat-chelorette Shower-Mitzvah” (trademark pending)! What is a bat-chelorette shower-mitzvah? Why, I’m glad you asked. As their clever invitation explains:

For the shower portion of the program, please join us in the afternoon for tea and sweets. Bring a small craft-related gift (such as pretty paper, ribbon, rubber stamps, or cookie cutters) to nourish Miss Hot Cocoa’s inner Martha.

And then . . . Miss Hot Cocoa never got the dance-slipper themed bat mitzvah of her dreams, but it’s not too late! We’re going to party like it’s 1991 with dinner and drinks on the town for the soon-to-be Jewish bride. Wear your best NKOTB gear or Laura Ashley dress!

With an invitation like that and a snow emergency on the way, how could hijinks not ensue? Want to see embarrassing pictures of all our shenanigans? All in good time, bees, all in good time.

Tell you what: I’ll trade you embarrassing pictures for your comments below on what your favorite shower or bachelorette party theme is (real or imagined).

In the meantime, here’s a teaser:

I call this thoroughly frightening get-up devil snow bunny bride (or “Bunnicula Returns: When Hell Freezes Over”).

Did your bachelorette party do double-duty as another party?

LOL Bunnicula reference!
I had a Prom Themed party once - where we all wore old Prom dresses and took pictures against a cheesy backdrop - I think that would make a fun Shower or Bachlorette party too :)

My bachelorette-shower-beach party was a great theme I think —— blow up doll and 6 ft penis!!!!!!!

VERY embarassing photos were taken (as I’m sure you’re envisioning now~)

My awesome MOH and bridesmaid also got a belly dancer to come and give us all a lesson, that was so fun and a workout!

I hope someone has equally embarrassing photos lurking somewhere~

that bunnicular pic is friggin awesome, though it’s only winning the first pic by the nose coz the first pic’s novelty wore off a little for me from the last time it was posted (why yes, of course i remember!)

Hmmm…penis just seems like a good theme for it all. It serves so many purposes…first and foremost to be to embarrass the crap out of the guest of honor. It also goes on to serve as great conversation starters, because you always ALWAYS get the guy that says his is bigger, shorter, pinker, brighter…who knows, but they turn it into a competition no matter what. Then, any sort of penis accessories serve as a ticket for free drinks.

Penis is the new mustache of 2009…

My friends throw a themed bday party every year. In 07 it was Toga party, last year was GI Joes and Army Hoes, and I can’t wait to see what this years theme is!! Oh and my BFF and FI joined forces and threw me a surprise hawaiian bday party last year which was awesome (my bday is 4 days before xmas so she wanted it to be the opposite of xmas). I love themed parties and can’t wait to see your pics!!
