Mrs. Cookie, Denver Age and Occupation: 25, Nonprofit Fundraiser/Theatre Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Financial Analyst Engagement Date: September 2007 Wedding Date: September 2008 Blogging Since: May 8, 2008 Venue: Ten Mile Station About Me: With a degree in Theatre I never realized that planning a wedding was a lot like Theatre Management, until I started planning my own. I am a coffee addict, especially Starbucks' Grande Mochas, yummy! I love to cook (especially chocolate chip cookies for my honey), travel to exotic places, and be creative. As a couple, Mr. Cookie and I are extremely practical, down to earth, and children at heart. We live in a cozy abode with our adorable Pomeranian, and love to play board games and watch movies into the evening.
About Mrs. Cookie

After we wiped the chocolate cake goodness from our faces, it was time to take the dance floor for our first dance…

As silly as it sounds, Mr. Cookie and I are together today because he asked me to dance. Yep, our relationship started out old-school movie style. A confident and debonair Cookie spots a cute, single Cookie from across the room at a wedding, asks her to dance, they fall in love and get married. But wait, life doesn’t happen like the movies, and it especially did not for us Cookies.

Prior to the wedding, Mr. Cookie confessed a concern to me — he was a ball of nerves over our first dance. Knowing all eyes would be on us, my confident and debonair man got a bout of cold feet. We talked about taking dance lessons to ease the nerves, but with busy schedules we never found the time. So, a week before the wedding, we whipped out our iPod and went to the task of choreographing our first dance: a few turns, swaying back-and-forth, and a dip at the end. Our routine was sweet and simple and helped calm Mr. Cookie’s nerves.

When the first few notes of Eva Cassidy’s “Songbird” played, Mr. Cookie took my hand and twirled me onto the dance floor.

With all the pressured deflated by our preparation, Mr. Cookie and I just stared into each others eyes. There was a lot of love in Mr. Cookie’s eyes.

Love Made Simple: And the Songbirds Keep Singing... : wedding dance denver pictures recap 1318 0901 I thought back to our first dance, on a September evening similar to that evening. Who could have predicted that two years later, after that very first dance, we would be taking our first dance as husband and wife? Who’d have thought? Definitely not us!

Love Made Simple: And the Songbirds Keep Singing... : wedding dance denver pictures recap 1345 0901 While we were choreographing our dance, Mr. Cookie got the brilliant idea to have our bridal party join us on the dance floor. Halfway through the song, Mr. Cookie cued the BM and MOH to take the floor. Not only did the rest of the party follow, but our parents and guests. We felt surrounded by a lot of love!

Love Made Simple: And the Songbirds Keep Singing... : wedding dance denver pictures recap 1340 0901 Right before the song ended, Mr. Cookie and I couldn’t keep our eyes off of one another. I remember distinctly hearing the lyrics:

Cause I feel that when I’m with you / It’s alright, I know it’s right.

And it was. Everything about this moment was right. Serendipity had aligned the stars the evening we first met, on this our wedding night, and I knew that it would for the rest of our lives.

And the songbirds keep singing/ Like they know the score/ And I love you, I love you, I love you/ Like never before…

And with a dip our first dance was over. It went by with lightning speed and before I knew it my father grabbed my hand from Mr. Cookie’s and was ready to boogie — the father daughter dance was next. Stay tuned.

I’m so jealous that you danced to Songbird. I love the song, but one of my best friends (and BM) chose it as her first dance. I just wouldn’t want to steal it from her! Good advice to put in some practice dance time–my FI is terribly nervous about the dance, but it’s been hard to get in lessons because we live in two different states.

You guys look so ridiculously in love, and I love that song- I just added it to my potential song list. I hope Mr. Peep looks as suave on the dance floor, and I bet you 10 bucks his hand will be in the exact same place! ;)

@subee: Really, if you want your first dance to be “Songbird” go for it. But if you feel uncomfortable, ask your BM if she minds you guys dancing to it.

I was first introduced to the song when a friend of mine walked down the aisle to it. She was totally cool about us dancing to “Songbird” because it’s so popular.

@Mrs. Pinot Noir: I too get emotional hearing it. Such a great song!

So sweet and love the song choice. We danced to “Quando, Quando, Quado” by Michael Buble & Nelly Furtado. During the instrumental part our bridal party and parents joined us. We also didn’t want to do formal parent dances, so during this part we split so I could dance with my dad and he could dance with his mom. Then, my mom and his dad joined to dance.

Also love the Mr. C’s Gropy McGrobster hands, lol!
