Whoooo’s That Dress… La La La La…

January 13th, 2009 @ 11:26 am by Mrs. D'orsay

La la la la… so cool right?

In any case, it seems like everyone’s dress has a name. My dress however, only has a number so I’d like to introduce you to her, and for you to help me pick a name. I’m very sorry I don’t have better pictures, as I didn’t think they’d be on the internets…

As you can see, my dress is from the DB’s but I still think she deserves a name. We’ve been separated since I left the country and when I return I hope the dress won’t fit (in a good way!).

Yes… it needs to be hemmed… hardcore… I’m 5′2″!

And my favorite shot (which means it’s time to give my back a serious workout):

I’ll post more on my veil later, mostly because I want to play around with it when I get back to the US. I’d like to pick an English name for my dress, so the names I’ve narrowed it down to so far are:

Poppy (I like poppies {the flowers})

Emma (who doesn’t love a good Jane Austen novel)

Chloe (I have no reason - I just like it)

Hopefully this will give you (and me!) more of a hint as to what our theme is! :)

What should I name my dress?

I think it looks like an ‘Ella’ which is very popular in the UK right now or an Elizabeth x

You look so fun and stylish! I vote for Emma because that is our doggy’s name. And it sounds so wonderfully British!

Emma is perfect, because it is just what Jane Austen’s character would have worn at her wedding!

That headpiece just makes me think “Scarlet”. But that’s southern isn’t it? I vote Chloe then.

Oh she’s an Emma to me. Rolls off the tongue in such a romantic way. You don’t look 5′2″ at all! I’m 5′1″ myself! Beautiful dress.

Maybe something with a V, since it has a v-neck, and a v-back… Violet? Viola? Valentina? Those aren’t very English, though! :)

Beautiful dress! Out of your choices, I may be in the minority, but I vote for Chloe. To me it’s a name a little less common than Emma (my #2 choice).

They did not have that dress at the Springfield store and I really wanted to try it on! The dress is really flattering on you. I vote for Poppy to name the dress!

oh, and if you’re in the MD/DC area I highly recommend the David’s Bridal in Glen Burnie, its GINORMOUS, I think the largest on the east coast. They get test styles that other stores don’t have. When I bought Emma, she was a test :)

When I think British names, I think of Imogen… I don’t know why?

Chloe and Emma are good and work on both sides of the pond ;)

CHLOE! CHLOE! CHLOE! And I’ll tell you why. 1. Chloe, is a very popular name for English girls (and the UK is part of your milieu or is related to your wedding framework somehow, right?)

2. Chloe is also a French name. AND the dress has the cap sleeves, lace, and a certain Parisienne je ne sais quoi of the Cymbeline designs (http://www.cymbelineusa.com/html/collection.html ; see the second dress from the top)

Okay, the connections seem to be spurious, but my initial “blink” reaction is most certainly Chloe. :)

Wait wait wait! You have to name her Jenna! This dress was created as a replica of Jenna Bush’s wedding dress by Oscar de la Renta.. I first saw it in a wedding themed US Weekly article LAST June, flew to Atlanta to try it on when it was a limited preview style, and fell in luuuuuuuv with it. I vote JENNA :)

@Miss D’orsay: I love this dress! You look absoluetly stunning in it. It was actually my 1st pick dress (until I found the one I ultimately bought, which was a Maggie Sotterro) but I loved it too. :)

i was at DB today getting BM’s dresses (and my gorgeous shoes–CHLOE in ivory), but they let me borrow a pedestal to try on & photograph my reem acra gown. (the salespeople kept asking if was new to DB.) never again on a saturday–it was MOBBED! love your dress on you–it hugs your curves & makes you look a lot taller than 5′2 (i’m all of 5′1 1/2″!). it’s elegant, vintage-y & romantic-I vote Emma, though.

This makes me so sad… I went back to DB for the 3rd time tonight trying to decide between this dress and the CD278 dress… both SOO different. I want to wear the CD278 during the ceremony and the dress you are wearing to the reception? Why can’t a girl just get what she wants?! I have been dreaming of this day forever… I thought the decision would be much easier!

You look beautiful in my possibly-future-dress!

OMG, you look so hot in this dress D’orsay!! I can see why you need it hemmed, but it looks so much better on your petite self, with flowy lace spread on the ground, than it did hanging off my nearly 6′ frame, swinging in the breeze…. I’m so excited to see it in your wedding pix. :D
