Close Your Eyes

January 14th, 2009 @ 10:59 am by Mrs. Latte

Now that the dress search has come to a happy ending, are you ready to move on? YES, me too. Next up? Wedding colors!

I think wedding color combos are super important as they can pretty much set the scene/feel/mood of the wedding. Other aspects, of course, work to create a final “look”, but colors invoke such a strong feeling that will translate to the wedding day. For example… close your eyes… what words come to mind when you think of these colors?

Yellow and white? Light and fresh!

Black and white? Formal and modern!

Orange and brown? Warm and cozy!

As usual, I had a hard time choosing colors. Mr. Latte and I wanted our wedding to have a clean, crisp and casual feeling for our guests. So we had to think outside of the proverbial (Crayola) box to come up with a palette that fit our wedding style.

Mr Latte’s only request was that the colors weren’t too “girly”.

He didn’t expand on that so I chose LIGHT PINK.

But I’m no bridezilla, so I also included a nice CHOCOLATE BROWN to complement it.

And we all know by now that making decisions isn’t exactly my forte, so I also included a MOSS GREEN.

And every good palette needs an accent color, so ours will be DARK PINK.

Oh, and don’t forget the base color, IVORY. (Ok, yes I know that’s yellow but that’s the closest readable color to Ivory.)

Yup, that’s 5 colors.

BTW, Color Combos is a fun place to make your own color palette! You can look through their Combo Library and find an already coordinated palette, or use their color swatches to make your very own!

My inspiration was this pic below. I love the crisp look of the table decor. Very distinct colors that all coordinate together… lovely!

Light pink, chocolate brown, moss green, dark pink, and ivory? Clean, crisp and casual! Yes?

Anyone else have (gulp!) a 5 wedding color combo?

I guess 5 is the new 2 (or 3). I have 5 as well: light pink, deep hot pink, blue-grey, turquoise, and a moss green (basically the nature around us). They all just make me happy! :)

Those colors look great together!! We didn’t even have a color combo! One part of the wedding was fall colors and themes (invites, flowers, etc.) but we also had the navy and dark green from the kilts, bridesmaid dresses, etc.

I think having 5 is great. We ended up with 9 different colors based off of our proposal (lavender, green, yellow, white, orange, bright pink, light pink, red, burgundy). Thank goodness our designer didn’t quit on the spot when he heard how many. I can’t wait to see how they all turn out!

I love your color combo, I would probably have had something similar but I promised FH no pink ;-)

Ours are black, white, and kiwi green. Our wedding is informal, but black & white are my favorite colors. We’re getting married outside so the green is to (sort of) mimick the grass & the ferns on our invitations.
I think your colors are a lot of FUN! :D

I started out with three, but it has since become four. (And, they are very similar to yours except no brown.)

Our color choices are very similar. I think we are at four- but I’ve been counting pink as one color- if I didn’t do that- I think we’d be at five! The only difference is that we are using kelly green instead of moss.

Actually I guess we have 5, but it’s a gradient type thing. We have a light yellow, and a kelly green and two greens in between the kelly green and the light yellow. Finally, we have a light grey that will be popping in and out of our scheme. Too much? No way!

Can I say, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the colors you chose! I tried to be a bit modest and chose 3 colors, but seeing your colors make me wish I chose more.

Very pretty colors! Can you believe I still haven’t officially gotten our colors straight?! I keep changing them. Maybe Color Combos can help me settle…

So my main colors are kelly green and a deep pink. Also white and silver accents. However, realistically, I am using many shades of greens and pinks.
