A Toast to EBaying

January 15th, 2009 @ 4:17 pm by Mrs. Deviled Egg

It’s time for a toast and I’m raising my glass to eBay!

Here’s to searching and scouring for great deals! Here’s to placing a bid and waiting for the auction to end! Here’s to obsessively refreshing your web browser during the last few minutes to either confirm you’re still the highest bidder or to sneak in a last second bid! And here’s to winning, especially if you are able to score Vera Wang’s Love Knots toasting flutes for $5!

I think the Love Knots collection is very chic and classic, and I’ll be happy use the flutes while toasting with Mr. Deviled Egg at our reception.

My original plan was to just use plain old, run of the mill champagne flutes for our first toast as a married couple, but I couldn’t pass up this eBay listing. The pair I won is used, but I’m OK with that. Brand new, these babies would have cost me around $75.

So, my first wedding-related eBay purchase turned out to be quite the bargain. Now, I’ll be on the lookout for a deal on the matching cake knife and server set.

Have you found any awesome deals for your wedding on eBay?

I was just scouring through e-bay and happened across the Vera Wang Love Knots cake server and knife set. The auction doesn’t end for a few days, and the price (sadly) is more than $5, but they’re still a pretty good deal: http://cgi.ebay.com/Vera-Wang-Silverplated-Cake-Knife-and-Server_W0QQitemZ280302886749QQcmdZViewItemQQptZWedding_Party_Supplies?hash=item280302886749&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

mmm

wow, I didn’t know they were only $75 new. I was thinking more than $200 being vera wang and all and $5 for sure is a bargain. Clean them well!

That’s amazing!!! Mr. Taffy obsessively surfs ebay for vintage watches, and he did get his “wedding watch” there. Not sure if he got a good deal!

I actually bought my J Crew wedding dress from ebay! It was new with the tags and $600 cheaper than new so I returned the one I bought and just got that one.
And now I have more money for shoes!

@MsJoe: I think I was the only bidder. I got pretty lucky, I guess!
@mmm: I first saw them at Macy’s and they were $75. I would have thought they’d be more, too.@Stefanie: I saw that listing, too. It’s tempting, but I might hold out a little longer. I got spoiled by the $5 deal. ;-)

Fabulous! How much was shipping? I got JCrew cream satin peeptoes (in the catalogue for 195) for 15 bucks! They were 19 with shipping.
