Mrs. Sea Breeze's Picture
Mrs. Sea Breeze, Vancouver/Dominican Republic Age in 2008 and Occupation: 30, Communications Manager Fiance's Age in 2008 and Occupation: 29, Experiential Marketing Director Engagement Date: October 6, 2007 Wedding Date: November, 2008 Blogging Since: July 17, 2008 Venue: Majestic Colonial Resort, Punta Cana About Me: Planning a destination wedding by the sea should be (oh no she di-in't…) a breeze (…*sigh* yep, she did) but when you've never been to the Caribbean, your powers of imagination are really put to the test. Luckily, I'm 90% resourceful, creative optimist (and kooky, neurotic practicalist-if-that's-a-word for the other ten). Other than writing about our week-long celebration of family, friends, laughter and love, I adore books, shoes and… you guessed it… long walks on the beach.
About Mrs. Sea Breeze

Once we got settled into our rooms, I couldn’t wait to get outside and do a whole lot of NUTHIN’. Unfortunately, Mr Breezy had other plans. Uh… that came out wrong. What I meant was, there was a whole lot of unpacking to do… of OOT (Out Of Town) bags for our guests.

Remember the logo/monogram thingy that we made? Well, here’s what we used it for…

DW in the DR: The Guest List Is In the Bag : wedding favors punta cana S3 s3

… items for all 60 of our guests!

We really wanted our guests to feel special and appreciated and like this week was going to be a totally exciting EVENT (can you tell we’re in marketing? D’oh) so for each room, we put together a logo-ed beach tote containing:

  • 2 baseball caps (a white and a black)
  • 2 shot glasses
  • A handful of monogrammed temporary tattoos (lots of photos of these coming)
  • A CD of songs from our wedding and other favorites (more on that later)
  • A letter of welcome and thanks from us

The plan was to get the resort to deliver a bag to each room and have it waiting there for them when they walked in. That way, they’d be able to read the letter straight away:

Dearest Family & Friends,

We are overjoyed to welcome you to Punta Cana!

We can’t even begin to describe how much it means to us that you have travelled so far to be with us to show your support as we become Mr & Mrs Sea Breeze. You mean the world to us—truly—and we are so blessed to have you in our lives. That’s why this week, we celebrate not only the love that we have for each other, but the love we feel for each and every one of you.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being here.

We look forward to an unforgettable week together!

Love,

Mr & Miss SB

The idea behind this stuff was that there were a LOT of people in our wedding group, many of whom had never met before. We thought the bags, hats and tattoos might be a cool way for them to recognize each other at the resort. Plus they’d double as (ok, kinda dorky, but still) souvenirs of our trip!

I still can’t believe we fit all that stuff PLUS our clothes and wedding day supplies into 2 suitcases and a duffle bag. Seriously. Can you believe it? ‘Cause looking at these photos now, I can’t. I swear, if packing was a degree program, I’d be Mrs Sea Breeze, PhD, yo.

One chore down, so many to go!

Now, how do we get them delivered? Come to think of it, we hadn’t heard from the wedding coordinator yet. Hmmm, that’s strange. We should go look into that, because we still have a lot of things to plan and the clock is a-tickin’.

Temporary tattoos– what a fun idea! Where did you order them from? Can’t wait to see all the pics of your guests in the monogrammed gear.

How long did it take you to assemble them? We will be doing the same thing once we arrive in Mexico.

@Miss D’orsay: Ha! That’s me as well. I remember telling Mr. MagPie that the font and colors will totally help “brand” “Us.”

I hope you post packing tips, because I’m about to be in the same boat of having to pack our OOT stoof and I don’t want to bring 5 pieces of luggage.

Wish I could’ve been a guest at your wedding; they got soooo many great goodies! I love the bag and the idea of temp. tattoos! Too cute!

GENIUS!! GENIUS!! Of course, you’re in marketing. GENIUS! As a guest, I would have felt much more at home seeing people walk around with your “branded” stuff… because I’d know we were all together! Love it, Mrs S!
