Ever since we launched Weddingbee PRO, we’ve been wishing we could redesign Weddingbee to have a wider look. It’s awesome having up to 600 pixels on PRO to showcase photos. 
There was a challenge though: PRO uses a two-column layout, which means that the button ads from our sponsors end up lower on the page. (You can see what I mean on Weddingbee PRO.) Implementing that on Weddingbee wouldn’t be fair to our sponsors…
Still, we craved the wider look of PRO. So we brainstormed about it with a designer, got some feedback from our Bees, and came up with this:
It’s funny how the design has come full circle - the big bride in the upper left takes us back to our roots, as it’s very similar to one of our earlier designs!
I know I said the last site redesign was our hardest one yet, but this one was even harder! Still, I like that the new design is so simple… and that it evokes our old school design with the big bride. It was a sad day when we had to shrink her down, so I’m kinda excited to blow her back up!

I like it! It seems a lot less crowded.
I like how big the photos are and it seems more clean, streamlined, and less crowded.
I like the new design too - especially the bigger bride and your Bee being on the other side of the title Good Work!

I like the wider format, but I think the ads at the top right look cluttered - they bleed into everything else.
I love it! The only thing that caught my attention was that the part where the ads are (on the right) isn’t flush with the main content. In my opinion it looks “off” but not bad with the sections not being flush. I’m weird with straight lines!

The new design is so simple and clean! I think it’s great! I love how you kept the rounded corners, and the bride looks so much more detailed at that size!

I would pull the ads down below the darker green line, but other than that I think it looks great!

I’m not good with change, I really like Weddinbee now, but I also like the idea of better showcasing photos. I think I could get used to the new look if the photos will get better.
I love it! Only a few tiny nitpicking things that I notice because webdesign is a hobby of mine:
1) the username/password boxes is flush with the green of the banner. Maybe add a few pixels of vertical separation there like in the current design. (and maybe this is just me, I’m using Firefox on a Mac, and I know that padding/margins are the kind of thing that browsers often mess up)
2) the cream color of the new right sidebar is not contrasting enough from the background. I know you were trying to stick with colors in your theme, but maybe darken that shade up a bit or add a border?

@Kirsten44: I didn’t notice it before, but I agree with you regarding the cream color of the sidebar! Everything else is white or a tone of green but that kind of has its own thing going on.
The ads not being flush with the main content of the site (blog) makes it seem off balance and awkward. It’s probably just me being the OCD designer that I am. lol. Otherwise, I like that it seems simplified everywhere else and cleaner.
i believe the ads are up high so they are at the same height as current weddingbee, yes? I love the new design and think it was a great compromise, improving weddingbee and keeping the sponsors happy! great work!
Love the new wide format, but definitely prefer the separate rounded rectangular “bubbles” on the right side, enclosing Classifieds, Boards, etc. to help the eye quickly differentiate the sections. Really like the way this is set up in Pro.

Yep–it’s less ‘busy’ and easier to read. I like the simpler aesthetic.

Wider s great! I miss the swirls on the top of the page however. Somehow the darker background behind the word Weddingbee without the swirls is heavier. The swirls gave such a light airy feel!
All in all awesome!
It’s nice to have more space but I would say with someother that I like the ads below the header as well.

I think the layout looks great. You should bring back the “read more here” link where it will just open the entire post without taking you to the post itself. That feature was AWESOME.
