Wedding Website

January 20th, 2009 @ 3:17 pm by Mrs. Spring Roll

Back when Mr. Spring Roll and I first became engaged, I started a wedding website at MyWedding. You see, I started, and well, never quite finished. No big deal, right? Wrong. We included the website information in our invitations, and with t-minus two days until they are to be mailed, I had to finish the website.

After a can or two of Mountain Dew, and into the wee hours (okay, 12 o’clock, but hey I’m usually in bed by 9), I finished our wedding website.

I included such items as our story, the bridal party, photo galleries, and maps and directions.

Did you make a wedding website for your guests? What unique or vital information did you include on it?

I finished up our wedding website just last week! The items that have received the most positive comments from guests so far are:
- Our map on http://www.weddingmapper.com
- Our song request page
- Our “wedding party photo album”

we went with the knot’s page, mostly because it was the first one I found. We did it mostly for OOT guests, and it’s been great in the sense that they know where to book hotels, know how to get to the venue, and they know our story if they didn’t already.
I think it’s a great use of technology and a great way to get the word out!

We are also using Mywedding. We’re basically just using it to show area hotels, attractions and information about the ceremony/reception locations. We included a bit of information about how we met and will also link our registry.

we used mywedding as well, i love that we were able to put in music and kinda set the mood/expectation for the event to come. since ours wedding was entirely outdoors i made sure to put pics and info about the venue so guests were not caught off guard (and bring with them that cardigan)!

We used wordpress to make one. Everyone’s favorite parts were the funny paragraphs we wrote about our wedding party, and the flickr widget that was on the side so they could see a bunch of photos of our family and friends.

We started one in November but haven’t finished it yet! I suppose we should get on that…one more thing to the list. ;) Your site looks great!

We used mywedding too! We added links to our DJ’s page for guest requests and area attractions for people who are unfamiliar with our wedding destination. Unfortunately trying to get guests to view the website is like pulling teeth! Most of the older guests haven’t bothered to look at it so they keep calling for information that’s been posted for weeks. :(

We used weddingwindow.com

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome website! You have so much freedom with it. You can change the color schemes and font to match the style of your wedding. The only downside…you have to pay for it. :( I do think it was worth it though! You can check ours out at http://www.mikeandrenata.com (password is August1). I even used the site to create an online resume (I’m going to be looking for a teaching job in the next few months (eek) (that’s http://www.missrenata.com)<–not finished yet though. I love technology!

Love your template! I’m feeling the website time crunch too…we’re mailing out our STD’s this week and I have yet to finish!

we’re in the process of creating out wedding website, which will have a ‘places to go/things to see/food to eat’ section as well as a map of the city since the majority of our guest will be from out of town. your website turned out awesome.

Our STD’s went out last week with only 2 sections completed…thankfully they were the two sections they needed right now…the hotels & the “About Us”….I really, really, really need to get to work on finishing it up. The saddest part of this is I’m in the “web business” so I wonder if the guests who have seen it wonder about how I can have the job I have and can still have such a pittiful site…

I was very lucky to be marrying a guy who felt he needed to learn more html. Do you need something to practice on, hon?

Wedding Website

I think wedding websites are a great tool for anyone planning a wedding. They allow you to maintain organization (which is always key).

I think it’s also a great idea to add an online RSVP, gift registry. Some personalized wedding websites even offer your guest help when it comes to booking flights, cars and hotels…which is very nice.
