Easy-Peasy-Lemon-Squeezy Aisle Decor

January 21st, 2009 @ 1:20 pm by Mrs. Peep Toe

Months ago I saw a picture of a sash tied over the end of an aisle chair, and I thought it really added a simple touch to dress up the ceremony decor. I have never been able to find that picture again—even after over an hour of research. But I have kept the image in my head.

Here’s our ceremony site, set up for another wedding.

Ceremon05

It looks kinda boring, but the aisle and my budget are too small for flowers. So I took the fabric I found at the LA garment district, and made some homemade aisle sashes:

Here’s an up-close picture:

All I did was cut the fabric in strips and sewed them down the long side, wrong side out. I then turned them right side out, added bit of ribbon, and voila! 12 aisle sashes! I originally sewed the ends together too, but it looked off, so I just left the ends open.

Here they are waiting for the big day!

I think I want to save the $30 bucks and forgo an aisle runner, but I found out that we can line the aisle with flower petals. Also, we will have a Chuppah at the end of the aisle.

What do you guys think? Do you think our ceremony will be decorated enough? Or do you have any other easy-peasy decorating tips?

Love them! It’s so simple but SO elegant and pretty! I think it would be cute with a ribbon bow but I love it the way it is!

OMG!! Thank you for posting this. I have apparently been completely overthinking this part of the decor, lol. I am going to snag this idea, but tuck a couple of flowers in the ribbon. So simple and elegant… love it! Your ceremony will be gorgeous!!

I saw that picture you are referring to months ago and loved the idea so much I decided to use it as well. I am using kelly green satin ribbon, 2 1/4 inches wide, instead of fabric. Just cutting the leangth I need and knotting it around the end of the chair. I really like the wite as well.

This is my kind of DIY project! Can’t wait for more, Miss Peep Toe!

I think that you will have enough decor for your ceremony. Its easy to go overboard & I think that this will look really crisp, classic and simple. :)

I think you did a great job! The sashes and petals are all you will need for decorations during the ceremony. Don’t spend anymore money on a setting that will be used for such a short period of time… Save your pennies! People will remember the vows that took place and how beautiful you looked. That’s all that matters. If you decide to spend more on decorations, do so at the reception where people are likely to enjoy it longer. Good Luck!

I love the simplicity of your decor and I think it will photograph well! Adding some petals to the aisles will defintely add something too, for a reasonable price.

I am also going simple and cheap for aisle decor - http://marthastewartweddings.com/article/pom-poms-and-luminarias?autonomy_kw=pom%20pom&rsc=header_5 but just a little smaller.
