The Finger Huggers!

January 21st, 2009 @ 5:20 pm by Mrs. Ballet Flat

Thanks to a recent Monday holiday from work, Mr. Ballet Flat and I conquered a pretty huge task on our wedding to-do list: The rings.

My ring was easy to find. All I wanted it to do was to match my engagement ring. Mr. Ballet Flat did so great with this ring… I still get compliments on it!!

So, the jewelers found my exact match, and here’s a similar picture of what it will look like.

I did find out some funny news at the store. My e-ring has been a little loose, so they re-sized me and I went down a ring size! When it gets closer to the wedding, I’ll have my e-ring rhodium dipped and re-sized. My e-ring is a size 7, and we ordered the wedding band in a size 6.5. I’m not sure if this has anything to do with weight loss or not…

**By the way, as of today, I’m 10 lbs. down from when I blogged about finding motivation. Thanks hive for the support!!**

Now, for Mr. Ballet Flat. He tried on many rings, and after pondering over a hammered texture gold band and a titanium ring, he chose the titanium ring. The main reason? Titanium doesn’t scratch :) .

Isn’t the cord in that ring super cool? It’s real cord in there, and yes, Mr. Ballet Flat is going for a little bling too. :)

I can’t wait until our rings come in. This was definitely one of those moments where things started to feel more and more real.

What was one task you completed that made your wedding seem very real?

Congrats on the weight loss and beautiful ring purchase… and BTW your fingers totally gain and lose weight too, so that is probably why you’re down a size!

I know this is going to sound random, where the diamonds end - is the channel square shaped? that has been the hardest part finding a band to match my e-ring.

I love channel set rings! Titanium is also very lightweight, so I think it’s great for guys who do work with their hands. Does your FI move a lot of computers/servers for his job?
When I lost 40 pounds I also dropped 2.25 ring sizes. It makes sense; you lose weight everywhere, including your hands!

That’s great! I’m showing this to my FI so he can see rings can be both manly and blingy

Beautiful! Just be careful how many times you have your rings re-sized. Every time you re-size, you create a weak spot. I delayed getting mine re-sized for over a year, but I lost few more pounds and it got to a point where I couldn’t even really wear it around the house comfortably! Congrats on your progress. Ten pounds is amazing! You may also get gratification if you start tracking your inches. That can be a better indicator of success than weight depending on your routine.

congrats on the weight loss! that’s impressive progress. i lost the same amount of weight between getting my promise ring and christmas last year and went down a complete ring size too [my promise ring is getting scarily close to hanging on my finger] so it happens. :-)

@Luvbug6315: I’m glad there’s a correlation!!
@ribride: Thank you so much!! :)
@chrissy: Yes, I’m not sure about the ring pictured, but my ring set ends in a square shape, despite the round diamonds.
@chrissy: :) I never wear my rings at the gym or working out. Mr. Ballet Flat jokes that someone is going to hit on me at the gym (as if!) haha!
@indecisivebride: Thanks! I’ll definitely will be writing a post in the near future concerning my workout/eating regime lately. :)
@AliCherri1: Thanks!!
@blightygirl: He’s more of a programmer, but he does help out when needed at his office. He does play with computers at home though. :)
@Crash: Definitely!! :) Bling bling for the boys!!
@West Coast bride: Wow! Thanks for the pointers. I’ll have to make sure to resize when absolutely necessary. I’ve seen ring tape to temporarily resize, so I may have to do that for now!
@Tea: Thanks!! My e-ring isn’t so bad, but I do own a ring that is like that. :(

keep it up! on the losing weight front or get to your ideal medium but don’t change your ring size too often, it’ll ruin the consistency and durability of your design and its metal. Your stones will fall without you noticing.

Your jeweler can suggest more options until you settle or maintain the same weight for a few months because yes, your fingers shrink or expand according to weight and you really don’t want your rings cutting off circulation.

cheers & good luck!

Woooohooo! I lost some weight in my fingers during my stressful engagement and it started to make me nervous that I would lose my e-ring!

congrats on the weight loss! i know how difficult it can be. your rings are beautiful! mr. bf did a fantastic job. i offer you this advice, when i got married a few months ago, my engagement ring became super tight. i didn’t gain any weight or change ring size, but apparently with two rings on your finger this can be an issue. you might wait to size your engagement ring until you know how your finger reacts to 2 rings.

I know this is weird, but my fingers shrink in the winter and expand again in the summer. After asking around, this is totally normal, but it does make my engagement ring a lot looser now that it’s January. I’ve already re-sized once (the jeweler ordered the wrong size), so I’m trying to hold off and make sure this isn’t going to be a permanent problem.
