A while back I was contemplating doing my own wedding makeup. I even wrote a post about it. In an ideal world where money grows on trees, I would have probably booked a professional in a heartbeat. But, unfortunately, my budget didn’t allow for a $150+ trial. So, what was Miss Glitter to do? I turned to the Weddingbee Classifieds! Through a quick search, I was introduced to Susie Chhuor: hair and makeup extraordinaire.
My makeup inspiration: fresh, simple, and natural.
My hair inspiration: loose, romantic, and natural.
This picture was taken by Weddingbee PRO Amelia Lyon and the amazing hair and makeup was done by Amelia’s sister, Nicole DeAnne.
In just under two hours, Susie sprinkled some fairy dust and worked her magic, and I left looking like this:
Here is what my hair looked like. Please keep in mind that we didn’t use any hairspray or product. It was morning time and I didn’t want stiff wedding hair all day long, so Susie just pinned it up to give us a rough idea of what it would look like on the day of. For effect, we added fake flowers.

Ultimately, I was very impressed with Susie. She was professional, friendly, talented, and within my price range. We worked well together, and I am happy to report I am booking her for my wedding day!

you look beautiful! do you know her bridal rates? i have spent over $400 on trials and still have yet to find a make up/hair person. i cant stomach spending any more money on trials but i desperately need to find someone. my wedding is less than three months away!

I had a trial session with Susie as well! Due to some circumstances I was late to my trial but she was able to work her magic on me under an hour so I would be able to meet the photog in time. I’m waiting for our images - can’t wait to see how the make-up looks in pictures! I highly recommend her to anyone in the LA area.

wow that looks perfect! i know nothing about makeup but i really despise the too much makeup look (which is how i felt on my wedding day), yours look so natural and light. enhances without exaggerating, lovely!

UGH. I had the misfortune of contacting Susie Chhour after seeing her ad on Weddingbee. She was a disaster - wholly unprofessional and unaccommodating. She made demands of my time after I’d specifically noted my availability and then rescinded advertised offers.
Your makeup Does look gorgeous though and I’m glad someone was able to work with her. Definitely not me.

Personally, I think you look better in your profile pic. So you probably could have done your own makeup, but I’m sure it’s not something you want to stress over on your wedding day. Heck, you’d probably be okay even without makeup! You’re stunning with or without makeup!
I am so surprised to see a post about Susie’s service not because she’s not great, but because shes absolutely fabulous and that I haven’t seen one sooner. She actually did my hair and makeup in december and had her team help with the bridal party. Everyone was definitely pleased and satisfied. I am so happy to see that I had made the right choice and that she is doing well.

I’m so happy to see her getting some exposure. I took advantage of this $40 promo, and I have to say I have never felt more beautiful than I did after my session with Susie. She looks young, but don’t let that fool you, she is extremely helpful, experienced, and above all very professional. I highly recommend her services!!! I can’t wait to work with her again!!

Susie is, simply put, AMAZING.
She’s such a hard worker and loves what she does, it’s obvious to see in her skill level and her finished product. I loved working with her.
Oh man, you look great! I love that she didn’t add a lot of nonsense to your eyes that I see on a lot of asian brides to try to add creases and whatever. I’ve been having a hard time finding great inspiration for asian makeup, so I am going to be saving these pictures and bringing them to my own hair and makeup trial!!!!

you look amazing both before and after! Susie did an excellent job in capturing the ethereal look of Zhang Ziyi’s makeup! Your hair looks beautiful too but the hair in the inspiration pic appears to have more loose waves for a “messier” look. either way, lookin’ good
I also had Susie do my makeup for a photography session. She is great! She responded quickly and she worked me in when I had to reschedule. She did such a great job and her rates are very reasonable. I will definitely use her again!
I used Susie this past weekend for hair and makeup for my Trash Your Dress session. She does some amazing magic! I was initially impressed with her pictures from her website. If someone can do the funky eye colors for top models in a shoot, she could surely do my makeup…and she did not disappoint. Now I wish I had used her for my actual wedding. I highly recommend Susie as she is a thoughtful and talented artist.
