Mrs. D'orsay's Picture
Mrs. D'orsay, Baltimore/Lancaster UK Age and Occupation: 24, Stay at home fiance (formerly in nonprofit communications) Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Web site developer and designer; co-owner of men's skincare shop Engagement Date: August 10, 2008 Wedding Date: August, 2009 Venue: Oakland Manor About Me: I'm a Maryland raised environmental policy wonk/activist/organizer and communications aficionado. In the past year I've lived in Baltimore, MD, Tucson, AZ, Miami, FL and Lancaster, England. In my not so spare time I enjoy planning trips with Mr. D' Orsay, visiting friends and family and crafting like a mo-fo. I also enjoy modern dance classes, rugby and soccer but have been banned by my mother, MOHs, and Mr. D' Orsay from playing till after the wedding. I have an unnatural addiction to cheese and shoes, but love Mr. D' Orsay more than either and can't wait to become Mrs. D' Orsay!
About Mrs. D'orsay

Shoespiration

January 23rd, 2009 @ 11:12 am by Mrs. D'orsay

Not surprisingly (hello, Miss D’orsay!), shoes are important to me.

But, surprisingly, I’m having a hard time finding affordable purple D’orsays. I’m willing to go peep toe even, but feel compelled, especially now to have D’orsays for sure.

I’ve searched Zappos and Endless with little luck. Since Google now directs me to UK sites, I found these: (NOT D’Orsays)

27_284_

available here

These are a lot like the Nine West ones that didn’t quite fit my feet, but seem like they match the bridesmaid dresses perfectly: (Sort of/not really a D’orsay)

How about some fantasy shoes?

(D’orsay)

WHY oh WHY must the have a metallic heel? AND an ankle strap? These are two of my “no nos”.

available here

I have no idea how I found them, but I saw these:

(D’orsay!)

d1

… and began to drool. I can’t afford international shipping, so I shipped them to my mother, but as they’re 4 inches high she is very wary to try them on. I won’t get to meet them until June, and it’s just a risk I’ll have to take. Not to mention, they were $25, so I won’t feel too bad if I don’t end up wearing them in August. I have the sneaking suspicion they will need a ton of foot petal action.

BabyGirl Boutique has TONS of cute, sexy retro shoes, and I must stop looking!

Here is my other dilemma, where I suppose the metal heel would come in handy. How do I keep my heels from sinking into the ground? We’re having an outdoor ceremony and I hate ruining shoes. Any tips/ideas, hive?

Check out SoleMates:

I used a pair at a party held on the grass over the summer and they worked out great!

The only thing I can think of is to wear a wedge-type shoe. But that would be so un-D’orsay!

Love the shoes, D’orsay :)

Here are so true purple d’orsays,

http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/38235134/c/12398.html

This next pair I love, but it does have an ankle strap - the ruffles on the back of the shoe are adorable though.

LOOOOOOOVE THE PURPLE POOF SHOE (sans metal heel, of course). My shoes have a feather poof and they’re VERY similar to those…but in champagne.

But I also adore your final shoe choice…it’s perfect and a must to have a D’orsay, D’Orsay!

I am of little use, but check out these ridiculous purple suede d’Orsays by Christian Louboutin!

5.5 inch heel! If only I could walk in those without breaking my ankle.

If those shoes don’t work out for you, you could always get dyeables. The Onyx shoe by Dyeables looks almost identical to your icon! And really comfortable as well (they’re my wedding shoes)

The first shoe is my favorite because the heel doesn’t look too high (a major dealbreaker for me). They are all so cute though!!

I LOVE all of the choices- especially the ones you ended up picking! I am also wearing purple shoes and can’t wait! I was able to snag these beauties during the Barney’s sale:

@clover- I love those first ones. They remind me of the infamous Sex and the City shoes, which were my dream wedding shoes.. just way to over budget!

i was on the search for purple shoes too! I have a post about it here:http://weddingplanningisfun.blogspot.com/2009/01/purple-shoes.html

I ended up choosing these:
http://zeta.zappos.com/product/7509540/color/43759

which I LOVE…they are super cute and super comfortable (good sized heel, shouldn’t sink in the grass and the footbed is cushioned), BUT they are a brighter purple than the color we are using in our wedding. The purple i’m using seems to be close to what you’re using (it’s a really deep purple - the Fig color in Melissa Sweet bridesmaid dresses).

Great find though in the shoe you bought! perfect color and fantastic price!!

I have the nine west ones too, in the purple, for another event, and they are almost too high for me (MrG is only 2 inches taller than me and I have some big hair). I’m slipping some metallic leather flip flops in my clutch for when they get to be too high.
Those last ones are gorg!

OMG!! I am in love with the purple ones with the poof! As fast a my little mouse would go I clicked on the link, alas they do not ship outside the UK :-( Miss D’ orsay if you ever find your way to Maine let me know! And don’t feel bad I had my shoes before I had my dress, with 4 months to go I have offically 4 pairs to choose from, perhaps it’s a good thing they don’t ship to the states.

oo i totally hear you on that. i hated sinking in the grass in our reception area and i had to quickly change into flip flops coz it was driving me nuts! no tips to keep you from sinking (honestly those solemates seem like a good idea but kinda ruin the purpose of a gorgeous heel shoe like to imo), but DEFINITELY get yourself some spare shoes to change into!!

I bought some Dyeables brand shoes for my wedding and had them dyed a nice plum color that matched my bridesmaids dresses almost exactly. And they were pretty comfortable too! …for most of the night anyway (I danced a LOT!). But that might be an idea for you instead of trying to find purple shoes. Find a shoe you like and dye it to match.
