Mixers Gone Wild

January 26th, 2009 @ 1:21 pm by Mrs. Avocado

Has anyone else seen these?

Mixers Gone Wild : wedding registry seattle A12 a1

Is anyone else thinking, “Wow KitchenAid, you really missed the mark when you chose to feature grapevines over Damask.”

Mixers Gone Wild : wedding registry seattle A22 a2

Would you pay $600 for any of these patterns? If you could design your dream KitchenAid mixer, what would it look like?

a kitchen aid should be timeless. In my opinion those are not timeless. I don’t really know what to call them.

Mine would have a beach scene and somewhere on it would be two dolphins jump out of the water and a firetruck somewhere!

No… Blah, I like the regular ones better! Although Damask might be ok…

No offense to the insanely crafty artisans who make these, but it’s just not my cup of tea. Kitchens get cluttered enough if you actually use them - I tend to think that sleek, minimalist appliances are the most beautiful. Like I said, no offense to the artistry at all! Just a bit too tacky for me :-/
Crazy cool find though, Mrs. Avo! You neglected to say which one you’d get, though ;)

I think I would rather have a plain one myself. I agree with Miss Rye Bread, the pattern is too busy for the kitchen. They are very pretty to look at tho ;)

I think the pattern is too busy for the kitchen unless I saw something that was really understated. But, for now I like the plain colored ones.

What would you get Mrs. Avo?

Hey! Those remind me of Alton Brown’s mixer…

And here’s an interesting article from the LA Times on this whole custom KA phenom:

@Lillindy: @Miss Rye Bread: Haha, I didn’t tell you what I would get because I would get none of these. I have a slate gray texturd one and I LOVE it. It’s so pretty, sometimes I pet it and sing to it when I use it. But I’m obviously crazy.

If you were holding me at gunpoint and I was forced to choose one of the above? I’d choose the ones with the vines on it and design an Italian themed kitchen. Or maybe I’d kick you in the crotch and make you drop your gun and then run away before you made me part with my pretty pretty gray one.

hehe, makes me think of Alton Brown’s (love him!) mixer on the Food Network: http://z.about.com/d/cookingequipment/1/G/h/1/-/-/ABGearPB96961JF.jpg

Those are crazy! I’m not sure if I could have one of those patterns for years and years. I think I will get a stainless steel one.

If I had to choose/design maybe a solid color with tiny little polka dots?

@Mrs. Avocado: HAHAHAHA!!! I don’t blame you, I have the same one you do and it’s too pretty to part with!

@MMWedding: I like the polka dot idea!

@Mrs. Avocado: They make a slate grey one?!?!?!? I obviously haven’t completed my registry then! ;) I was stuck between solid white or black - Slate is always the best answer! BTW anytime you’re using your KitchenAid, I’m guessing you’re making something sweet - that’s reason enough to sing! Sugar does interesting things to a lady and her mission to bake! ;)

I’d still go for the classic solid one… although your slate grey one sounds beautimous!

I have the slate grey one too! It looks very classic. We are slowly moving (one appliance at a time) to stainless steel, so the grey will look quite at home. In the meantime, it’s gorgeous and timeless, even in my semi-horrendous blue and yellow “French country” kitchen.

Haha — what’s going on here? Is Kitchenaid Weddingbee’s latest sponsor? Three posts in the past day have all been about these mixers….

Oh well, crazy post, Avocado! Where did you find these?!

@Kissyoursuzy: Haha, I guess they are just on our minds. I found them at this new grocery store that just opened up nearby me “Market Street” I think is the name. I didn’t know everyone else was writing posts on the mixers or I probably would have held off for a few days.

Haha, I agree, the Kitchenaid should be timeless, but this are pretty awesome.
