About Mrs. Powder Puff

I don’t like wedding cake.

Shocking, I know. I’m just not a fan of layers and layers of fondant and flowers. I like my cakes simple and delicious.

Which is why I’m not looking for your average wedding cake.

This Statement May Make Me a Freak... : wedding cake Wedding045

Instead of a large white cake, I’ve been dreaming of lots of little cakes.

Little, yummy, adorable cakes. Cakes like this:

This Statement May Make Me a Freak... : wedding cake 2008 06 Sigh. Isn’t this the sweetest cake you’ve ever laid eyes on? The little flower on top is so cute that I could just swoon!

This is my ideal cake layout. I’d love it if we were able to have lots of cakes with lots of different, yummy flavors. I may even sneak a Funfetti cake in there—my fave!

Is anyone else considering an alternative to the traditional wedding cake?

Yummmm funfetti! That second picture is the one that has inspired my idea for cake as well, it’s one of the very first pictures I ever saved after becoming engaged.

I agree, I’m not a huge wedding cake fan. And I like to have lots of dessert choices, so what I’m planning at this point is to find those adorable cake stands (hopefully in the green glass, so cute!) and get some delicious single cakes, probably from costco (their chocolate cake is to die for, and I love their cheesecakes too, and maybe a pie, why not?). Simple, easy, cheap, all things I love!

We’re doing centerpiece cakes. They’ll all be the same flavor though…no fighting allowed!

That first picture is hilarious. The cake matches her dress perfectly.

We had cupcakes at our wedding. Tasty, cheap(er), and super cute.

This is my dream cake(s) too! Thanks for the picture, I lost mine and needed this to explain it to my mom and baker :)

I am! We are going to have a fairly traditional layout - layers, I mean - but instead of cake the layers will be cupcakes. We’ll have several flavors in gold cupcake cups with brown frosting and (hopefully) green and orange monogrammed coins on top (very fall). Then we’ll have a small cutting cake as the top layer. We’ll probably have to have an additional small cake stand or two with the extra cupcakes, but that’s perfect because it will really fill up the table. It’s on of my favorite details we’ve planned so far. Can’t wait for the tasting! :-)

I am going traditional, but if I were a guest at your wedding, I would love it! It is really fun and gives more flavor options! :)

There is nothing better than funfetti cake with funfetti icing. Umm except maybe spice cake but funfetti is up there.

We are doing cupcakes too - fondant is not in my vocab. Buttercream frosting for all!

I will not have a traditional wedding cake. In fact, mine will be so freaky that I don’t even know what it is yet.

That’s exactly what we’re doing, too! My FI’s favourite cake ever happens to be my mom’s Apple Spice Cake so she’ll be making us one of those as our CAKE cake but we’ll also have a table of different ones!

Think of the cake stands!!!!

I’m doing cupcakes also!!! I don’t want to cut cake, and cupcakes are so cute. My reception site has a huge cupcake stand (200 cupcakes!) so I have to make use of it!

That is such a fabulous idea to have a bunch of little cakes!! I’m definitely on the same page as you– I don’t particularly like wedding cakes. I haven’t once been to a wedding where I actually liked the cake (though I typically eat it anyway…).
