Paying It Forward… Wedding Style

January 28th, 2009 @ 5:30 pm by Mrs. Flamingo

When Mrs. Bee asked the question on the boards, “Why do you love Weddingbee?” it was natural and easy for me to name all the reasons why I love Weddingbee. Seeing it grow and evolve is such a reward.

Mrs. Cupcake said, “Weddingbee completely shaped my wedding.” That is exactly how I felt, so I added, “… thank you to all the bees before me. Your weddings shaped my wedding into something more that I could have imagined. I hope my planning has helped someone else in return… I hope I have paid it forward!”

Pay it forward… wedding style. I like that…

So I thought it would be neat to name three things that I gained from Weddingbee, and how I hoped to pay it forward with my blogging.
Here I go (these are just a few)…

How these Bees paid it forward (to me):

  1. Thank you Mrs. Lovebug, for making me realize how much I love vintage typewriters.
  2. Thank you Mrs. Plumeria, for your beautiful invitations. They were the inspiration to my invitation design that seemed to be a never-ending process. You rock!
  3. Thank you Mrs.Onion for hiring Wes Jones (videographer) and opening my eyes to his awesome work.

How I’ve paid it forward (well, from what I know):

  1. I’ve designed invitations for a friend’s wedding.
  2. I’ve shared my knowledge about weddings and shared all my vendors and website references (including Weddingbee) to some girls I know who are going to tie the knot.
  3. I’ve vectorized some chandeliers for some Weddingbee readers, and a former bee.

Did any bees pay it forward to your wedding? How do you plan to pay it forward?

I’m the first to get married within my friends - so everybody is excited bc I’m the guinea pig hahah but I don’t mind - I know when it’s their turn I’ll totally use my wedding knowledge to help them!

Oh yes! I came on board as a Weddingbee reader nearly a year ago, and quickly busied myself reading back posts so I could get familiar with all the bees!

I continue to be inspired by Mrs. Eggplant’s cards and creations; by Mrs. Lovebug’s musing and wordplay; by Mrs. Shortcake’s photography; by Mrs. Cucpake’s graphic design talent; by Mrs. Bee’s innovative spirit; and by Mrs. Penguin’s zest for life.

And I could go on and on!

Awe Flamingo! You’re too sweet. I’m thrilled that I could introduce you to Wes Jones (www.filmjones.com) and encourage you to take a leap and see if he’d come to Canada!

Bees who paid it forward to me:
1) Mrs. Ant - thank you for introducing me to Tony Yang who took my b-pics wedding present for Mr. Onion.

2) Mrs. Corn & Mrs. Emerald - who were my date twins and a source of support.

3) Mrs. Snow Pea - for your crafter inspiration and support (especially post wedding with home renovation tips).

Ways I have paid it forward:

1) Mrs. Corn - inspired her short dress!
2) Mrs. Flamingo — Wes Jones videographer — encouraged him to go to Canada based on all the attention my film got him.
3) Moo cards & Creative Montage monograms — more bees than I can count!

My wedding is still far away but I like to think that me and my FSIL are both paying it back-and-forth to each other since we are both planning at the same time.

This site totally inspired my wedding thanks to many bee’s. The top thing that comes to mind is the Flickr cards for guests to post their pictures from the wedding. I’ve been telling all of my engaged friends, acquaintances, whoever (!) about Weddingbee!

My wedding would be no where without Weddingbee.
1. Miss Taffy helped me recraft my Mom’s veil!
2. I worked off of Miss Lemonade’s table number idea and crafted my very one.
3. I plan on ordering Moo cards- thanks Onion and all the other moo bees.
4. Most importantly, I think I would have seriously gone over the bridal edge if it wasn’t for the support of the bees!
As for paying it forward- more DIY to come- hopefully someone will reuse my ideas (or my already reused ideas?)

while i didn’t use a lot of others’ ideas, i’ve always thought that sharing theirs inspired me to think of things just as neat and unique to suit my own wedding. if not for the bees, i would certainly not have been as brave about DIYing as much as i did! i hope that sharing my own budget journey can bring a little light to those trying to be creative and attempt to stay sane through the process!

I would be a mess without WeddingBee!

1. Thank you Miss Lime for your fantastic invitations which most definitely inspired mine!
2. Thank you Miss Lemon for your ah-may-zing centerpieces

I hope to be able to inspire other brides with my projects, even though they are kinda recycled!

I first discovered WeddingBee in ‘07, and I was hooked from the get go.
1) Mrs. Eggplant’s creativity is so inspiring- her cards, her blog, her invitations- love them all!
2) Bee helped me find Cetaphil face wash and I’m hooked!
3) Mrs. Penguin taught me how to use that darn bonefolder!

I heart the hive <3

Mrs. Lemon was the end all be all inspiration for me and reason for any DIY at all. Cheesy but true. I even shouted her out in our wedding programs… she helped me out so so much and I can never thank her enough.

I have to say that seeing so many different weddings, so many different styles and budgets and themes, has helped me to step back and think about what’s really important to ME, rather than what everyone thinks I should do. Everyone here has made their day personal and special for them, using THEIR budget and THEIR resources & talents.

What a great post!

I took so much from Weddingbee. People are constantly saying “You know so much about weddings” and I can’t take credit for any of it, because it’s all from the ‘Bee.

1. Flickr cards from Lemon
2. “The Packet” from Daffodil
3. The kissing menu from Pom (I didn’t do it, but I came really really close, just ran out of time)

I don’t know if I could pinpoint how I have paid it forward. I haven’t come up with any really amazing templates or anything, but I’ve tried to help people out when they ask, and spend a lot of time on my recaps because I LOOOOOOOOVE recaps.

Great post! I would be so lost without Weddingbee, you gals are the reason I have such a handle on my planning! Since I can’t get into my Favorites right now on IE, I’ll try from memory

Mrs Avocado - the suitcases for pictures and her great recaps!
Mrs Cupcake for introducing me to Tracy for my jewelry, and her beautiful hairpiece, and selling me her frames
And I second the good review from David’s Bridal from Miss Spring Roll and Mrs Pineapple - I ended up getting my dress, my maids and my flower girl dresses!

I”m paying it forward by going thru the boards and trying to give people advice based on what I’ve learned here, or my own personal experience.

Everyone on Weddingbee has been a great support and given me so many ideas, those are just a few I could think of off the top of my head. I don’t even want to think about where my wedding would be without it!
