Take That, Emily Post

January 28th, 2009 @ 4:40 pm by Mrs. Lemonade

As the days tick by and we get closer and closer to W day, I am feeling the need to knock items off the mile-long to do list. Luckily most of the big crafty projects are winding down and I’m left with a list of items that need to be purchased. Slowly but surely I’ve been knocking these puppies out on an almost daily basis (which is kinda fun as almost every day now seems like Christmas. Not so much fun when I look at my bank statements.) Anyhow, the most recent purchase was justified as it can be used again and again after the wedding. Score one for practicality.

We ordered this sweet little return address stamp from Etsy seller babyjewels last night.

Take That, Emily Post : wedding etiquette san antonio L1

The adorable design mimics some of the flourishes we’re used in the Save the Dates as well as the (soon to be unveiled!) invitation suite. We’ve decided to be totally gauche and break from Ms. Post on this one and will use the stamp on the back flap of our invitation envelope. I’m sure it’ll make an appearance on the eventual thank you notes as well as many future birthday cards and mortgage payments.

Since we just purchased and moved into our new home a few months ago this is the first time our names and address have been immortalized in print and we couldn’t be more excited! Don’t worry, we’re only using our first names and not including our (soon-to-be) joint last name. My traditional Southern upbringing keeps me from totally throwing etiquette to the dogs.
Do you plan on stamping your return address on your invites? How did you decide to list your names?

Congrats on your first home Lemonades! and that return address label is too cute :)
FH and I are hoping to buy before we get married as well, we’ll probably stick with my parents address for the invitations, since technically they are throwing the wedding, but all thank yous will have our new address.

Those are so cute! What a fun idea, and like you said, practical. I also think it’s important to make your invite stand out from all the junk and boring mail, and this certainly does the trick.

Oh my gosh! I was just agonizing about this same thing…I too decided to throw etiquette to the side and use our own stamp (bought on etsy as well) for our invites. And like yours, ours has only our first name. I used the same stamp on our STD’s and will use it on our thank you cards as well. I think it’s a great way to tie everything together. I’m sooo glad that I’m not the only one worried about the names-in-print thing!

I love the stamp. Coincidentally, I was just thinking about the first name/last name issue. We’ll be living together before the wedding, and I’d like to have the invites come to us instead of my parents (who live 3 states away). This would be a great idea for us to use it before and after the wedding. Loves it!!

We ordered a stamp from Sweet Paperie with our names (first only) and address — and a little design.

We used it to address our response cards, and I do adore it!

That stamp is so so cute! I’ve got one with my new name on it, but not one as a couple, with both Mr. Peng and my name. I gotta get one!

Great stamp! We bought an address embosser and didn’t put any names on it - just our joint address. I looked for stamps, but didn’t find any that complimented our invitation design so we went the embosser route.
