January 28th, 2009 @ 11:10 pm by Welcome Wagon

Update:  Congratulations to commenter #72, HBride!  You’ve won a copy of Real Simple Weddings!  HBride is getting married in September 2010 in Huntington Beach, CA. She’s been reading Weddingbee for two years now!  When it comes to wedding planning, HBride writes,

“I’m stressed about everything looking and going the way I picture it! I am most excited about seeing my fiance when I walk down the aisle and having all the DIY and planning over and knowing it’s time to have a great wedding!”

~~~
The beehive is buzzing with so many new Bees, we thought we’d give you all a chance to introduce yourselves! If you’re new to the hive, or just haven’t had a chance to properly introduce yourself, comment below and say hello. As a welcome gift, we’re giving away a copy of Real Simple Weddings to one lucky commenter!
Tell us:
When did you get engaged?
What month/year will you marry?
What city will you marry in?
How long have you been a part of the hive?
What is the one thing that stresses you out most about wedding planning? And, on the flip side, what do you find most fulfilling and exciting?
Perhaps you’ll find that you have lots in common with some of the Bees in the hive, new and old!
P.S. - Don’t forget to check out the local boards to find brides in your area!
Booking all the vendors stresses me out. Luckily we have most of the must-have vendors booked now. I’m looking forward to all the wee details of the day, and making sure our theme comes off without being too campy.
*We got engaged @12:40 A.M on May 23, 2008.
*We are all off set to go for June 26th, 2009
*Calistoga, Ca.
*I think I have been combing through weddingbee since the week after I was engaged per a friend who used the site for her own wedding brainstorming!
*The most stressful thing of wedding planning is two things: A) We are planning the wedding from Orange County, Southern California & B) I am juggling wedding planning with graduate school & work. =o)
*But the most fulfilling thing is- looking forward to the our marriage… and the week of the wedding we are celebrating my father’s 55th birthday. So the entire family will be present to be together during a pivotal time in our lives.
I’m Ashley! Getting married in Knoxville, TN in May 2009 (same day as my hometown friend, Miss Cheese!) We got engaged in June of ‘08. I first discovered the hive right after our engagement, and I’ve been hooked ever since! My favorite part of wedding planning has been sharing the excitement with the Mr. We can’t wait to be married! My least favorite part so far has been trying to keep those around me happy–budget, scheduling, dresses…it can get overwhelming! But at the end of the day, I love my man and I cannot wait to marry him!
Hi all!
I became engaged 1/16/09 and we’re planning a 9/25/09 wedding in Jersey City, NJ. I’ve been (secretly) reading Weddingbee for about 6 months…but I’ve just recently been able to do it without erasing my browsing history everytime (I didn’t want to scare the boyfriend!). I’m definitely stressed most about finding music for our wedding - everyone says the band/dj can make a break a party. But what I’m really looking forward to figuring out what I can DIY myself…and what I should leave to the Pros!
Ahoy there!
We got engaged Tuesday, October 21st, 2008. I can’t always remember the exact date, but I can always remember it was a Tuesday, because I was scheduled to work Friday, Sunday, Tuesday at the time, and he had to figure out a way to get my shift covered without me knowing about it. Let’s just say I found out about it beforehand and was HIGHLY suspicious.
We’ll be marrying in October of this year.
We’re getting married in a suburb of Dallas, TX.
I’m quite the newbee. I’ve been wandering about the blogs and boards anonymously for a few weeks, and registered a week or so ago.
One of the most stressful things is figuring out my guest list, honestly. There are people I “have” to invite and don’t want to, and people I want to invite but don’t have space to, etc., ad nauseum. Also, working with my $5000 is a fun challenge in some ways, but quite frustrating in others. I’m the queen of the bargain bin, so I’ll make it work. I think just getting closer and closer to saying “I do” is the most exciting. I tear up whenever I watch the proposals of various cheesy TV wedding shows.
What is the one thing that stresses you out most about wedding planning? And, on the flip side, what do you find most fulfilling and exciting?
I got too stressed out even thinking about a big wedding, so I flipped the script and moved it to Vegas! It reduced my planning to a list of under 10 items and I couldn’t be happier.
What month/year will you marry? October 2009
What city will you marry in? Rochester, MN
How long have you been a part of the hive?
I’ve been looking at the site for about 3 months probably
What is the one thing that stresses you out most about wedding planning? And, on the flip side, what do you find most fulfilling and exciting?
I hate the money aspect. I hate how all these vendors keep contacting me and bothering me. I hate the pressure of having to book things right away or else losing out on that vendor.
I liked looking at flowers and picking them out. The most fulfilling things so far all happened in one weekend - our premarital retreat with our church and our engagement photos. Those were the best! And they weren’t even really wedding planning! It was just time well spent focusing on eachother.
I think I am too laid back. Maybe its a destination wedding thing, but I think that stresses me out the most. Whatever happens, happens I suppose.
Hi Everyone!
When did you get engaged?
December 19, 2008
What month/year will you marry?
May 2010
What city will you marry in?
New York City . . . my hometown!
How long have you been a part of the hive?
Hmmm . . . maybe two weeks.
What is the one thing that stresses you out most about wedding planning?
One thing??? Planning a NY wedding from Memphis, TN (where I live) and trying to stay within a reasonable budget, while working and going to school. Also, trying to have a wedding that isn’t “cookie-cutter” and exactly like the thousands that have happened before.
And, on the flip side, what do you find most fulfilling and exciting?
The most fulfilling and exciting is trying to figure out what our vision is and how we can make this wedding something that represents us.
When did you get engaged? March 2008 on our 1 year Home purchase anniversary.
What month/year will you marry? August 2009
What city will you marry in? Pleasanton, CA (in SF Bay Area)
How long have you been a part of the hive? I’ve been an avid weddingbee reader for about 1.5 years =)
What is the one thing that stresses you out most about wedding planning? And what do you find most fulfilling and exciting?
I hate having to make all the decisions and making sure both sides of the family are happy. I love all the talented vendors that we get to meet, and most of all, being able to spend time with my fiance and our families planning the event that will officially mark the beginning of our lives together.
August 2008 on a beach in North Carolina
What city will you marry in?
Philadelphia
How long have you been a part of the hive?
four moths
What is the one thing that stresses you out most about wedding planning? And, on the flip side, what do you find most fulfilling and exciting?
I hate feeling like I don’t have enough hours in the day to get all I need to done. I’m the most indecisive person in the world and I second guess my decisions, which makes choosing vendors hard. I hate how even though I have a large budget for my wedding I keep falling in love with people outside of it.
I love spending time with my fiance planning our future together. I love seeing how he balances me, helps me be more assertive in this process. I love how excited our families are for us and how much they are helping us. And I love weddingbee and wedding web sites. I’m addicted
Engagement date?
We’re not, officially, though we’ve bought the ring. He’s waiting for the right moment.
When’s the big day?
Probably early summer 2010.
Where’s the wedding?
Rural northern Minnesota or northwestern North Dakota.
How Long at WB?
Anonymously over a year, but I just broke down and made and account today.
Stress/Excitement:
Money is a stress. Not that I don’t have money - I do - but I still don’t know that I want to spend it on a wedding. I’d rather spend it on a house or a honeymoon. Excitement is the marriage in general, and getting to share it with loved ones. (That’s what would make it worth the stress.)
I got engaged in April 2008, and I’ll be getting married in summer of 2010. Half of the wedding will be held in Delaware where we live, and the reception will be held in Philadelphia. I’ve been reading weddingbee since I was engaged, and I’m trying to be a more active part of the community now that I’m in the process of planning my wedding.
The most stressful part of the wedding is determining a date. Since I’m still looking for a job, it’s hard to plan with a small budget. Right now most of the planning is in my head. It can be frustrating to be asked “do you have a date” over and over again.
The most fulfilling part of this whole process is knowing that I will marry the man of my dreams. I cannot wait to officially be a Mrs. and spend the rest of my life with my future hubby.
Hi Bees! It’s a pleasure to meet you. Here are my deets:
We got engaged on Sunday, Nov. 30 - the weekend of Thanksgiving and my friend Lauren’s birthday.
We will marry in October, probably the 3rd, 2009.
We will marry in the Bangor, Maine area. It’s about 4-5 hours north of Boston.
I’ve been reading the hive for a month or more, but I only joined a week or so ago. But it’s quickly become my addiction. I have daydreams of being a Bee some day. Sigh.
The thing that stresses me out most about wedding planning is that I’m planning a Maine wedding from Las Vegas - which makes almost every task and logistic about 1,000 times harder. Can’t look at venues myself, must order everything shipped to Mom’s house, must submit to whims of a mother with vastly different taste than mine because she’s there and I’m, well, here… You get the idea. (Also, the budget is stressful. Tres stressful.)
What I find most fulfilling is imagining myself walking down the aisle to meet my guy, my match. I like to picture the look on his face, the vows we’ll say. And I like to picture, well, us taking pictures. Hehe. I can’t wait to be all dresses up, just the two of us, having our photos taken on the rocks near the lake where I used to spend time growing up. Romantic, non?
That’s my Maine-fall-fabulous-family wedding in a nutshell. What about you?
