About Mrs. Peep Toe

Bridesmaid Love

January 29th, 2009 @ 12:19 pm by Mrs. Peep Toe

I left you wondering what I was going to do with my bridesmaid dresses. Of course, the first person I called was Mama Peep. She always gives sound advice. Both of us weren’t worried about the dresses arriving on time, but we were worried that if they didn’t fit, they wouldn’t have time for alterations.

All of my bridesmaids are super busy gals. Wait, aren’t we all? No, these ladies take it to a whole new level: one runs her own business and she will be completing her MBA two weeks before my wedding, anther one is about to move across the country, and we all know that my sister now has her hands full with two little munchkins and a new business.

So, I came away from our phone call with two great options:

1. Skip the expensive dresses and have them choose a J.Crew dress.

2. Let them choose which dress they want individually—J.Crew, Melissa Sweet, Vera Wang—their choice.

Honestly, I love the look of choosing a color and having a variety of gowns, so these choices totally worked for me. After realizing that flexibility was key, option 2 it was.

Unfortunately, this busy little bee would not have time to craft one of those handy dandy “Will you be my bridesmaid and wear this gorgeous dress?” DIY cards that I love. Instead, I frantically crafted an email explaining the situation and potential urgency to all my ladies and sent it out on Friday afternoon of a three day weekend!

And here’s where the endless bridesmaid loves comes into play:

First, they all responded eager to help in any way that they could.

Second, they all wanted to match! Seriously, my best friend said, “I think it would look really good if we all wore the same dress, is that cheesy?” I think I dropped the phone when she said that—I was shocked!

Third, they all wanted to go with the more expensive dresses.

Fourth, they all rushed out and got measured and ordered the dresses within that week!!

And Fifth, they have all promised to try on the dresses as soon as they get them and will have them altered ASAP!

So there you have it. My ladies have to be the best bridesmaids out there, if I do say so myself! And just in case you have forgotten what the dresses look like:

Sister Peep will be sporting this amazing Vera in chocolate:

While the other three ladies will be sporting this amazing Melissa in tiramisu! Doesn’t it just sound scrumptious?

Since they did splurge on some fairly expensive dresses I decided to cover the cost of the 2-day FedEx and the sales tax. Really, it was the least I could do, and for now, that is one more task checked off the list. I have my fingers crossed that all the dresses will fit and be on time!

Has your wedding party surprisingly shocked you, in a good way?

i had the same experience with my bridesmaids. They all wanted to match, and they all wanted to wear the more expensive dresses. They’ll look amazing at the wedding.

I’m afraid it might be too late for Melissa Sweet. I tried to order mine five months in advance and they laughed at me! You can get J Crew dresses the next day though! :)

I absolutely LOVE both of those dresses. Which is rare, as I tend to not like 99% of bridesmaid dresses out there. They usually make me shudder.

Not these, though! These are gorg. :)

My maids are turning out to be amazing too! Who knew I had such great friends?! Their answer to everything is that they’ll do whatever I tell them, and they just want me to be happy. And they are all flying to New Orleans from all over the country for a b-party! And I came into this assuming that I wouldn’t even have one. I love these girls.

Great choices! Your ladies have excellent taste. I was shocked when all of my BM chose the same dress. I really thought that since I gave them the option of any style in the color I chose, they would all pick something different. I love the dresses they picked, though and I think they’ll all look fabulous!

so far ive only had 1 surprise me and say whatever you want. 1 of them is sort of stressing me out by insisting she wants a dress she can wear again.
that’s a tall order, because my taste isn’t here taste, so how can she wear it again. :P The other 2 are MIA still, but honestly hearing 1 of them say that made me feel so honored.

those jewel tone dresses are beautiful and i am happy it turned out you’ve got a great team there!

I was at a wedding where the BM’s wore the Vera Wangs in chocolate. They looked gorgeous and much better in person than in the pic. Seriously one of the best dresses I’ve seen at a wedding, so un-bridesmaidish. My BM’s are also wearing Melissa Sweet dresses in teramisu, just a different style…the style your girls chose was definitely in my top 3.

Miss Kitten - I ordered my Melissa Sweet dresses in November which was 5 months out for me no problem! They we’re supposed to arrive Feb 13th but they came in last friday. I did go to the Pricillia of Boston store here in Dallas if that makes it any easier.

Love those dresses Peep Toe! I almost went when that Melissa Sweet style but we opted for these instead: http://www.priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=50&sfid=247&f=

Glad you ladies like the dresses!
@Latte- you can totally join my wedding party, but we may not have room for you to sit at the reception? Would that be ok?
@gosebyma- so excited to hear that your dresses came in early. The shop swears they won’t arrive early, but my fingers are crossed.

I had the same experience with my ladies. I gave them multiple choices but they shocked me when they all opted for the same dress and got measured for it within a week. Those dresses are gorgeous btw! Your gals have great taste!
