Mrs. Sea Breeze's Picture
Mrs. Sea Breeze, Vancouver/Dominican Republic Age in 2008 and Occupation: 30, Communications Manager Fiance's Age in 2008 and Occupation: 29, Experiential Marketing Director Engagement Date: October 6, 2007 Wedding Date: November, 2008 Blogging Since: July 17, 2008 Venue: Majestic Colonial Resort, Punta Cana About Me: Planning a destination wedding by the sea should be (oh no she di-in't…) a breeze (…*sigh* yep, she did) but when you've never been to the Caribbean, your powers of imagination are really put to the test. Luckily, I'm 90% resourceful, creative optimist (and kooky, neurotic practicalist-if-that's-a-word for the other ten). Other than writing about our week-long celebration of family, friends, laughter and love, I adore books, shoes and… you guessed it… long walks on the beach.
About Mrs. Sea Breeze

The next day, Mr Breezy and I woke up and looked at each other. Could it really be true? The morning of the wedding had finally arrived!

That’s right, we had stayed in the same room the night before the wedding. I actually wanted to be separated but Mr Breezy didn’t think it was a big deal so I went along with it. It was a bit complicated to figure out and at that point, our heads just could just not handle any more logistics. However, if I had a do-over, I’d have tried harder. It was sort of weird to walk into the buffet restaurant together that morning to grab a bite before the craziness of the day began.

Back at the suite, we kissed goodbye and… I closed the sliding doors.

Because we had a big suite, the guys got ready on the lounge side, and on the other side of the sliding doors, we girls were primping. I loved that setup because I could still yell at - um, I mean yell to - Mr Breezy through a crack in the doors whenever I remembered something we’d forgotten to do (yes it happened). Plus our awesome photographers could go back and forth between the guys and the girls easily.

Before long, the wedding party and a few others started trickling in.

The guys got off to a slow start…

… but it was nothing a little CR couldn’t fix.

It started working pretty fast I think, because the kissing and muscle flexing soon followed.

Mr Breezy, haven’t you learned yet that first place in the gun show always goes to your father-in-law?

OK boys, enough drinking. Time to get dressed.

While I had my ’something old, something new’, Mr Breezy’s sentimental items were his grandfather’s cufflinks and the watch his parents gave him at his high school graduation.

Hmmm… looks like some last minute alterations were in order.

My email to the groomsmen about their shoes worked!

When all was said and done, the groomsmen did their duty and got Mr Breezy dressed.

Mr Breezy’s gifts to his guys were engraved humidors filled with the Dominican cigars he had purchased the day before.

Don’t they look handsome?

Just a few steps away, us girls were fussing (and wondering what was making the guys laugh so hard next door!)…

I love your posts bc that’s my country! I grew up there and feel like part of my heart is always there.. I wanted to make things easy for my fiance’s family and our friends so we’re having our wedding in Boston - but DR would have been beautiful!

@MagPie518: I own so many purple things, it’s not even funny anymore.

@LzzNYC: Well you are very lucky, the DR is such a gorgeous, gorgeous place!

@MsJoe: @RobinBananas: @El Capataz: @Janna19: Aw, thanks SO MUCH you guys. I’m so glad you’re having fun reading these. It makes me want to drop everything right this minute and go write some more (even if it means Mr Breezy continues his whining about how come I never pay attention to him any more, haha).

I second janna19, your posts are great. The guys outfits turned out great. Also you gotta love man love.

Also its great that your dad got in on the fun with the boys. Silly Mr. Breezy thinking he could win.
