Gifts for the Guardians

January 29th, 2009 @ 5:09 pm by Mrs. Spring Roll

You’ve seen our gifts to the guys and girls, now it’s time to see the gifts for the guardians. Guardians meaning our parents, of course; I couldn’t part with my matching ’g’ titles, so please forgive my tackiness.

First and foremost, let’s meet the parents:

Mom Spring Roll is my everything, my (pun intended) guardian angel. I love her more than she knows, and am forever grateful for all that she has done.

FMIL Spring Roll if you are still reading, now is the time to click the little red X.

FMIL and FFIL Spring Roll are more than I could ever hope for as my in-laws. They have been married for 31 years, and are my role models for a healthy, happy marriage. I can’t wait to officially become a part of their family.

Okay, let’s move on to the good stuff: the gifts.

We got each parent a piece of jewelry as a token of gratitude. I cheated a bit and asked mom Spring Roll for hints on what she would like. She hinted that she would like a ring with our names and birthstones.

FMIL Spring Roll loves pictures just as much as I do, so we got her a locket that holds four photos. The locket holds a photo of us, FSIL and FBIL, Isabella and Gabriella, and a thank you.

The hardest person to gift was FFIL Spring Roll. We ended up getting him a pocket watch with his initials engraved on the cover.

Not only does FMIL Spring Roll love pictures, mom Spring Roll does too. You should see their houses, there are photos everywhere. Naturally, we got each mom a frame to hold our wedding photo.

With their love for pictures still in mind, I made each set of parents a scrapbook.  It showcases our wedding beginning with our engagement and will run through the honeymoon.

Additionally, we plan to treat each mom to a massage and lunch at a spa, and FFIL Spring Roll to a car show and dinner with Mr. Spring Roll.

What gift do you plan on giving, or have you given, to your parents?

Ooooh, that all sounds so nice. I gotta say though, we’re not financially in a position to do that much for them, and I’m just not really sure what to do for mine. Because my parents are divorced, and West Coast Groom’s Oma and Opa are contributing to the wedding too, we actually have four “guardians” to gift! Any suggestions?? Mmmmm maybe I should hop over to the boards on this one!

@West Coast Bride: The scrapbooks are very inexpensive gifts that are very thoughtful. The books can be purchased at a craft store like Joann’s using the 40% off coupons they always have in the paper and online; and printing photos can be really cheap (I use Walgreen’s when they have the “buy 50 prints, get 50 free” deals). Good luck :)

May I ask where you got the ring & locket (ESPECIALLY the ring)? I think the ring would be a lovely gift for my FMIL. Unfortunately, my FI won’t have a FMIL & FFIL. :(

I do a ton of scrapbooking, and my standard wedding gift has become two small pre-decorated scrapbooks, some adhesive, and some pens. All the couple has to do is slap some photos in, and *poof!* instant weeping mom.
