About Miss Snapdragon

Oh, to Get Married Every Year!

January 29th, 2009 @ 3:17 pm by Miss Snapdragon

Weddings tend to be creativity on Speed… theoretically. We all want our weddings to be personal, fun, and aesthetically pleasing. Although I am so excited about our Van Gogh theme, of course with all the wedding research, I inevitably run into other themes I wish I could incorporate, as well! Right now, the idea of a Frank Lloyd Wright wedding tickles my fancy. I wish we could have a second wedding so I could realize my visions of chandeliers, vintage martini glasses, and sleek, trim lines. Hmm, maybe one of YOU should have a Frank Lloyd Wright wedding and send me the pictures instead!! ;)

Andrew Lloyd Wright Wedding

What is the theme of your wedding?  And if you could pick an alternative theme, what would it be?

How did I miss that you’re a “van gogh” bride?! I loooove that idea!

If I was having our wedding at home instead of a DW, I think we totally would have gone a different route.

I love Frank Lloyd Wright. I recently did an Arts & Crafts home design with a ton of FLW flair…and I just loved it! I never really thought I liked that style until I spent hours upon hours doing research & ended up loving the entire A&C’s movement.

Fun!!

p.s. I can’t wait to see more of your wedding!

we’re having a 1920’s theme, but I think it would great to do a vintage carnival theme!

we’re framing our wedding around late summer and food — not themes, persay, but overarching ideas we hope to carry throughout the elements leading up to the wedding, and the day itself

I would love to Parisian-Marie Antoinette style wedding of baby blues and pinks, yellows and light greens. On the other hand I would also love a black and purple Victorian style wedding…
sigh.

we’re doing an updated 1920s glamour but I have like 50 other things I’d love to do. Maybe someday we’ll do a wow renewal and I can have my english garden tea party. Oh to be Heidi Klum and Seal, (they get re-married to each other every year).

Too funny - our wedding had a slight FLW theme. All the paper products (invites, place cards, menus, table numbers, programs) had designs that I made based off of his work. Even the cake was inspired by him! I think that the way we did it, FLW fans got it, but it was subtle enough that it wasn’t overwhelming.

we’re using our wedding date 3.21.09 as our theme. it also happens to be our dating anniversary date and our 9 year anniversary together so we’re going to play up the date. our invitations and possibly our favors will have our logo on it (with 3.21.09 and our names). on the tables we’re planning to put our logos in frames as well.

Our “theme” is something like quaint-New-England-turned-wicked-pissah-seaside soiree. The church is quaint quaint quaint (I need a thesaurus, but really it’s the best word for it): a tidy little white early 19th-century clapboard. Our reception is in a historic building that used to a be part of a casino/resort in the turn of the century.

Happily, that time period is one of my favorites in American literature, and although the fiance isn’t a lit geek, he is a history geek, so it works. I just don’t know what this translates to in terms of color/decor/etc. Love your art-inspired theme!

I love the idea of a Van Gogh theme! We’re (loosely) sticking to a spring/Celtic theme (sage BM dresses, celtic knot invites/cake/table runners).

We just bought a lovely little Arts and Crafts home and are looking hard for FLW-inspired light fixtures!

I like the humble Sicilian Village wedding. A la Michael Corleone.

@smileybride: That is so cool that it is your date-iversary, and the year is the number of years you have been together! What are the chances that that would work out!

@lit_geek26: What you wrote is so cool….we are also getting married at a quaint white clapboard church, followed by a reception at a casino/gentlemen’s club. We are also in New England…. Are you getting married at the same places we are?? In RI? :-)

Mine is a beach theme, but if I could have another wedding, I’d make it vintage glam.

We’re doing a treehouse wedding, and I would never want it any other way. We met while helping a neighbour putting up a treehouse for the kids in the area, and it just seems like the right way to go for our big day.

We’re doing a retro-glam cocktail party theme, a la Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Munro. I think if I could have a second wedding, I would want to do a rustic outdoor theme.

We are having a casino/gaming/red, black and white theme with dice, lotto tx favors, poker chip placecards, etc! My fiance and I are crazy competitive and love casinos and all things vegas-glam! Our table names will be vegas casinos……the funny thing is if I had an alternative theme it would be waaaaaaaaaaay the other way…I would do a casual country backyard theme with barefoot bridesmaids!
