Mrs. Kitten's Picture
Mrs. Kitten, Austin/Grand Cayman Age and Occupation: 25, Law Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Dental Student Engagement Date: October 19, 2006 Wedding Date: April, 2009 Venue: The Grand Old House, Grand Cayman About Me: In 2009 I will get married (after a two and a half year engagement!), become an Army wife, graduate from law school, take the bar, move from Austin to Washington, D.C., and start my career as a lawyer! With all this going on, Mr. Kitten and I decided to have a tropical, "stress-free" destination wedding. Nevertheless, my micromanaging, detail-oriented, perfectionist side has prevailed---I am currently obsessed with every last detail of my "stress-free" destination wedding! But most of all, I'm beyond excited to become Mrs. Kitten on a fabulous Caribbean vacation surrounded by my friends and family!

Will You Be My Flower Girl?

January 29th, 2009 @ 9:29 am by Mrs. Kitten

A couple of days ago I sent out “Will You Be My Flower Girl?” cards to my two sweet flower girls, Cousin Kitten and Future Niece Kitten. I basically used the same method as my “Will You Be My Bridesmaid?” cards. But since my crafting skills had developed ever-so-slightly since my first round of cards, and I had a little more time on my hands for these, I did a few things differently.

First of all, I used envelopes! I found the right size at Michaels. The first time around I didn’t have envelopes, so I just tied the cards up in pretty ribbon.

Ideally, I wanted to send the cards out with a cookie bouquet full of flower cookies. Then I did some research and found out how much cookie bouquets cost. $62 for seven cookies? Really? I mean, the cookies ARE delicious, but $62? And for a six year old who wouldn’t know the difference between these cookies and any other sugary substance she could get her hands on? I didn’t think so. I would rather put $62 towards the flower girl dress than spend that amount on cookies!
I still wanted to include something else in the package, so I bought some pretty flower shaped stickers and a “Barbie Island Princess” coloring book. The coloring book is all about dolphins and the beach, so I thought it will get them excited about going to the Cayman Islands for our wedding. Here’s what it looked like all wrapped up and ready to go:

I know the parents of the flower girls are dying to see the dresses. We actually haven’t picked them out yet, but we are close to making a decision! More on that later!

Did you do anything special for the little ones in your wedding?

The cards are really adorable! It’s nice that you included some small gifts with your card, and I’m sure they will all appreciate it.

Too much cuteness: kittens, cinnamon rolls, coloring books. Sugary overload! But yes, please explain the infusion of breakfast foods into your post, Miss Kitten!
