Feeding the Addiction on Wedding Day

January 30th, 2009 @ 6:04 pm by Mrs. Latte

Hi, my name is Miss Latte and I have an addiction. It’s the first thing I use in the morning and the last thing I do before going to bed at night. I can’t leave home without it, but just in case I do, I leave stashes of it in random places: in my car, top drawer of my work desk, even in the side pocket of my gym bag.

And it’s no secret. For my birthday last year, instead of a cute bag or sweater, people got me what I really wanted. Yup, I got 5 more to add to my stash.

What is this addictive substance, you ask? It’s this:

OK, so I was being overly dramatic. It’s not illegal or incredibly hazardous to my health, but it might as well be; it’s some powerful stuff. Now this is not your average Chapstick or lip balm. It’s like Chapstick on steroids… it’s got it all. It’s shiny and smooth and gives you that “just glossed” look. It has just the right amount of that minty tingling feeling that every good lip product needs. And it has peppermint oil infused in it so it smells great and leaves your breath minty fresh. Yes, I’ve tried it… it tastes pretty good, too. ;)

And it’s ultra portable. It’s long and thin and fits nicely into a small purse or pocket… so no one has to know about the addiction.

Here’s the problem. My wedding gown doesn’t have pockets. And I surely cannot (will not!) be carrying my purse around with me all day. I will admit that I seriously considered gowns like this Anne Barge simply because it had pockets that would hold my addiction quite nicely (and the green doesn’t show through the dress… I tried it).

And I’ve also thought about investing in one of these babies from J.Crew to carry my addiction…but again, I don’t want to be carrying something around all day. It IS to die for though…

But I have a pocket-less dress, no cute purse, and no solution to my problem. What is your “addiction” and how will you feed it on your wedding day?

Easy solution: make Mr. Latte carry it in his pocket for you! My FI is totally addicted to Burt’s Beeswax lip balm–but it has to be the original kind, lol.

Can’t you just shove the tube down the front of your dress?! Or get a bridesmaid to carry it … that’s what they’re for, right?

I hear you though … I have incredibly dry lips, and hate it. I’m addicted to Carmex - and it’s getting worryingly difficult to find the sticks (no pots, tubes, or cherry flavoured for me please!)

Ohhh I am SO addicted to this too. I legit wear it all the time, crave it when I don’t have it, etc. I have the pint tinted one… I’m hoping that I can get away with it on the big day!

My only complaint? It attracts sweater and other fuzz like nothing else.

I can’t wait to try this stuff. It sounds great!! Also I think you should strap it to your hip like a flask! You’ll have it whenever you need it. ;)

I’m totally addicted to Rosebud Salve.. and it’s definitely not as portable as your tube, since it comes in a tin. I agree with what others have said that you should have Mr. Latte or a bridesmaid carry it in a pocket or purse.

I think you should diy a garter with a pocket to safely stash your “addiction”. ;)

@miss fleur de lis: I love Rosebud Salve and it comes from the great state of MD!

Piglet - everyone seems addicted this! I may have to pick up a tube…

Helloooo! Chapstick is the whole reason I bought a wedding-day purse in the first place. Which my sister (MOH) will carry around for me. Oh, the lengths addicts will go! :)

Ooooo, I love C.O. Bigelow. I worked at a Bath and Body Works that sold the stuff right before grad school.

Um…either enlist the mister, or have your BMs help. (I forget, have your found dresses for them yet? If not, find ones with POCKETS!)

@Indie B: Exactly what I was going to suggest :)
@Miss Powder Puff: I am also obsessed with chapstick and will have my sister/MOH carry around my purse w/ chapstick ;-)

I’m all for storing it in cleavage! In fact, it reminds me of the Breakfast Club. :)

I would say put it in your garter or make a pocket like either Mrs. Cherry Pie or Mrs. Shortcake did…. I might be wrong but I think one of them did something similar to that

Ohhh, so addicted to burt’s bees! Mr. Taffy has the same addiction, so I am making him put a tube in his Tuxedo somewhere. Maybe Mr. Latte can hold it for you in his pocket?

@Indie B: Oh right…Mr. Latte will be around that day too! ;)
@AlmostMrsG: YES! It’s like a magnet for anything linty. I have to clean the top off daily.
@I3cheese: HAHA! If I had a poofy, A-line gown, I’d definitely do that!
@ggsb: Another great suggestion! It would make for an awesome picture though…bride lifting up her dress to get to her chapstick. ;)
@MagPie518: We’re currently looking at bm dresses and found some that we love with pockets!!! I’m trying to steer them towards the pocket ones but they don’t know the real reason why…shhhh…

Umm - duh! That’s why you’re getting married isn’t it? So you have someone to hold things for you in their pockets when you don’t want to carry a purse!

:)

Give one to a bridesmaid and one to Mr. Latte — or you could ask your officant to hold one?

I don’t have an addiction to chapstick or any beauty products. But I do have an item that I will need “just incase”, which is my asthma inhaler. I wasn’t thinking of a small cute purse…but maybe now I should consider! My asthma isn’t that bad…but maybe have all the excitement and dancing…I think I should have it “just incase”!

I tuck things in my cleavage. I did it on the wedding day as well. But I’m “blessed” in that area as they like to say. Usually I think it’s kind of a curse, but what can you do?

cleavage works, or you could hide one in the bouquet…or if you’re doing an updo, have the hairdresser hide one in there ;)

or just stash a few on family members and people in the wedding party.
