Cudge Votive Candle Giveaway!

January 30th, 2009 @ 1:52 pm by Contests

This contest is now closed!  Congratulations to the winner PrettyKitty!

~~~
Cudge is one of my favorite resources for affordable candles.  I’ve ordered from them in the past, after Mrs. Daisy told me they were great, so I can definitely vouch for the price and the quality!
Today we’re giving away 144 white votive candles, and your choice of 144 clear, frosted, or assorted color candle holders!
To enter this contest, please tell us which candle holder you’d choose, and how you’d use all these candles!
You have until 9pm PST Friday to enter.  Good luck! :)
I would love to win the frosted votive holders and the candles for my wedding ceremony. We are planning to hold it at dusk, and my vision includes candles lining the aisle, as well as the altar for a romantic glow!
I would use the clear or frosted votive holders. We plan to do two very long tables at our reception with candles down the middle, split up by cheese plates. This requires lots of candles so free holder would be fabulous!
I would choose the clear holders and would use them to decorate the tables for dinner, plus the lounge area near the dance floor. I am having my wedding at an art gallery and am allowed to decorate it any way that I want.
I’m in need of a ton of clear holders to flood light the entryway, staircase and reception hall at the Newberry Library in Chicago. It is gorgeous with a lot of lite.
We’re using lots of candles instead of flowers through our ceremony and reception. The altar of the curch will be lined with clear votives. And since our reception site doesn’t allow uncontained flames, we’ll need lots of clear holders for the cocktail and dinner tables.
You really can’t go wrong with the clear votives. The one detail I won’t waver on is candlelight. They will definitely play a large role in our outdoor wedding. Though I can’t decide on color choices (which is why I couldn’t go with the colored votives… yet!) candles are one strong force in our wedding planning details.
I would LOVE an abundance of clear votives!!!
I’d get the purple and amber (two of our wedding colors) to line the aisle. I’d probably etch a damask, our monogram, or other design onto them so that after the ceremony, they can be used on the tables as part of the centerpiece. That way they have 2 uses!
these would be perfect for my reception!! i am trying to accumulate as much candle light as possible and so far i only have the centerpieces (3 candle holders with blue pillar candles). i would want the multi-color votive holders and put them at the guest card table and around the bar- for a more romanticly dramatic affect!
I would use the frosted votives for a softer light on my tables. i plan to use the venue’s very simple, minimalist flower table centerpieces so candles are a great accent.
I would use the frosted candles to use as part of the centerpieces. The reception is taking place in a barn with very little light so we are planning to use lots of candles on tables. (hopefully we won’t burn the barn down!!! :) )
I like the idea of using the clear votives because they wouldn’t clash with any other decor elements. I think candlelight is the perfect way to set a romantic mood. The amber light they would give off would compliment a rustic venue perfectly.
I am all about frosted! We found great birch and clear glass jeweled napkin rings at the Z Gallerie after Christmas 70% off sale and we bought enough to have five at each table. Instead of using them for the napkins though we want to put lovely votives in the middle to give the table some soft light and use them as decoration instead. The birch in the rings totally matches the twig style silverware we are renting too!
i would use the clear votive candle holders as a pot for my lucky bamboo favors/centerpieces. the candle holder aka pot would be filled with tiny river rocks and a single bamboo stalk is inserted in the middle.
Oh wow!!!!! I would DEFINITELY pick the frosted votive holders with white candles. The night before our wedding we are having a huge Rhode Island Welcome dinner. We will have about 118 guests and serve a rhode island style buffet. For decorations we are planning on putting a few starfish on every table with TONS AND TONS of votive candles all around to give a beachy but elegant look to the evening. I have been looking for a reasonably priced votive holder for MONTHS now and I can’t believe how perfect and gorgeous these are!
EEK! and then after the wedding I picture having a gorgeous summer party sometime at my new place with my husband-to-be with tons of the leftover candles all over the place!
Thanks for the post!! I’m actually looking to spice up my black and white damask tables!! The purple and pink votives would go perfect with our centerpieces…..purple/pink orchids in tall vases of water (as well as a few purple pomander balls with clear crystals).
The votives would add that perfect dash of color on my tables.
Those are stunning! I would choose the assorted color candle holders. I used to put tea lights in some colorful wineglasses I had to create some ambient lighting when I entertained, but with these candles, we could actually drink from the colorful wine glasses!
Additionally, with so many candle holders, I could separate out the colors I wanted for a particular event - like red for Valentine’s Day!
Clear (but only since I can’t get all red!), and I’d use the majority for place cards and the rest in general table decor (we’re having a mix of long and round tables, so it gets complicated after that!).
I would love love love the colored votive holders…we are doing a bright and playful roof top reception in downtown KC with tons of (mostly citrus) colors. We have an indoor room with your classic wedding decor, but on the deck we want to go with bar height cocktail tables and a cheerful party atmosphere. Instead of a traditional cocktail hour we are sort of doing it backwards…first a quick dinner inside then move everyone up to the spectacular roof deck for a fun summer party! The best part is we could reuse them for all sorts of parties!
Our reception site has paned glass doors along two entire walls that (weather permitting) will be open during our reception. Above the glass doors, they have another set of smaller windows with a little ledge - that I would love to put small votives in. I think it would be fantastic to have that soft lighting all around the room!
our reception venue has a fireplace with 6 shelves built into the stones. I would love to put votives all over and brighten up the corner, since the fireplace isn’t actually functional!
This is an exciting one as I have big plans for my tables. 20 to be exact. I’m doing an enchanted forest theme, and I have laterns for each table already and these votives are just what I need to add more depth. I would choose the frosted glass for a softer light. Ultimately I plan on having about 2 lanterns, 15 votives on each table. I want each table to glow.
I would definitely use the frosted ones on our tables, but then I’d keep half of them for our mason jar walkway. Needless to say, I’ve been on the hunt for jars for the last 5 months.
oh oh oh! I really have been looking for colored votive glasses. My reception venue is historical and doesnt allow candles so I have the battery-kind… and I thought colored votives might be best to use.
And my friend is getting married on a tight budget (due to family budgeting reasons) so I could give the candles to her! I know she’d appreciate it.
What Liz Said
My fiance and I are doing a wedding in November in Old Town Alexandria. While it won’t be the holidays yet, we’re doing a theme with winterberry branches, cardinals (the Virginia state bird), and lanterns. The frosted candles would be a perfect touch to scatter across the tables, especially since the frosted look would lend itself to the idea of “the first touch of winter.” Not only that, but the contrast of the nice candles with the rustic interior of our venue (think weathered wood, rich colors, etc) would be wonderful.
Swoon, I already love them, haha.
I’d use the clear ones for placecards by printing guest names/table numbers on vellum and wrapping them around each votive holder. We are already doing a similar idea for table numbers (only with large glass cylinders rather than votive holders) so I’d love to be able to incorporate the candle idea further, especially since candles are such a major part of our decor (we are hanging votives from our centerpieces as well.)
Oooh, I would love to have the assorted colors! I just love the pop of color they would bring to our room. While our colors are peacock colors (green and blue jewel tones), we’re supplementing those with bright reds and oranges and purples- basically all the colors of the rainbow. These would look just gorgeous scattered around our centerpieces on each table.
The white candles w/ clear holders would look stunning on our tablescapes–we’re having a fall wedding (in a beautiful–heated–tent) with rust colored table clothes and bronze sheer runners. The light from the candles would really bring out the sparkle in our runners and would illuminate the stunning white tent. PICK ME! :)
definitely the frosted ones!! we’re having low centerpieces of roses, and tall ones with balls of carnations and crystals hanging from them….so the frosted will be gorgeous with the crystals to make them sparkle, and of course look great with our damask runners!
I want to make escort cards from the holders. Thus the clear votives holders would be ideal. Then it can double up as part of the centerpiece. AND hopefully be bright enough where I won’t need pin lights for the tables.
I would love to win the color assortment votives. They would go perfectly with the silk lanterns in assorted colors that I have to decorate our reception. I will be honest- we have a very tight budget since my fiance was laid off so I am trying to find free or cheap decorations. The lanterns were free- his old place of employment was getting rid of them because they were seasonal props for a window display. It seemed like a shame to let them go to waste. They are gorgeous and colorful! These votives would work beautifully! I hope that you will consider me! Thanks!
I’d get the clear votive holders with the white candles. I’d use 4-6 for each table, which will already have a white table cloth, a damask table square and then bright pink flowers for the centerpiece. The head table would be lined with candles and the rest of them I would spread out between the buffet table, cake table and guestbook table.
I would love the clear votive candle holders. We are getting married in the evening at a beautiful museum. Because it is a museum, the venue has many restrictions on what we can use as decor, but one of the few items we are allowed are votive candles. I would definitely use the frosted votives. They’re so cute, classic and fun (and plus I’m so OCD that I can’t handle the clear ones once the melted wax spills over from the side of the candle). BUT…that’s beside the point. We’re having an outdoor wedding and right next to where the reception will be, there is a really beautiful half-wall made of stone. It’s so gorgeous and a great spot to take a break from all the dancing. I would use these candles to cover the wall and invite people out there!
My fiance and I are really excited about our outdoor garden wedding but we both have concerns regarding lighting the space both on our dinner tables and around the areas that we know our guests will venture to explore. I think having the clear votive holders and candles will not only illuminate the smiles and joy on our guests faces for all to see but will accent all of the natural features of the outdoor environment once the sun goes down. We are hoping that the reflections of the candles and the moon will have a romantic illuminating effect that we will remember forever.
I would use and resuse the clear votives as well as the candles.
First, I would lend them to my girlfriends who are getting married ahead of me this summer. This way, we can be more environmentally friendly and share the love!
Next, I would use them at my own ceremony which is in a large church with wooden floors and a large pipe organ. I’ve always pictured my ceremony location full of candles and fully lit. Next I would use it at my reception hall. I prefer candle light to pin lighting as it creates a warm atmosphere and everyone looks good by candle light! :)
Everyone benefits!
I would love the frosted votive holders. We’d put them on our tables (we’re having mostly cocktail tables and there’s really not enough room for floral arrangements). We’d also try to put a number of them outside, maybe lining one side of the venue. Our venue is an old historic/abandoned firehouse with a HUGE patio area and benches. You can see alcatraz from the patio so I’d imagine that as long as it’s a nice night, a lot of people will want to hang out on the patio.
I love the look of candles at a reception! I would use the frosted votives all over the tables surrounding the centerpieces. I’d also use them around the room at our location where there are rounded windows with space for candles. Since the reception is at night, these lights would be amazing against the dark glass of the windows, as well as in beautiful reflections.
I would love the frosted candle holders! My fiance has been incredibly selfless in ALL aspects of our planning, but he slightly prefers one venue over one I really like because it will look completely amazing bathed in candlelight in the outdoor courtyards and along the indoor fountain. Since he is so enthusiastic, I think I will trust him on this choice and we will be buying tons of candles in the near future!
I would love to win the clear votives to use in my altar design. For my evening ceremony, I am envisioning a flood of votives placed at the foot of the altar in a tight yet free-flowing organic formation - like that of spilled water on a smooth surface. The soft glow of the flickering candles on our faces would surely heighten the drama during the big moment.
I’m having a sunset wedding that is indoors/outdoors. I’d take the frosted ones, wrap them in a different tones of pink or green vellum on the outside (the wedding colors) and group them by color on the different tables available to the guests if they’d prefer to sit outside. That way, each table has a warm glow with a soft colored light on the surface.
Weddingbees!!! This would help us so much if we had the opportunity to win the white votives with the clear holders, and I’ll tell ya why:
Our wedding reception is being held at a circa 1700’s colonial historical home, with free use of beautiful and intricate gardens for the guests to explore. Because it is a beautiful home surrounded by gardens, my objective is to not crowd it with flowers that are NOT organic and original to the home. My solution? What else is more romantic than hundreds upon hundreds of candles…….along the stone wall, bundled together on the tables in the garden and under the open tent, on pillars surrounding the venue…every where. I want so many candles that we’re pushing the legal boundaries and fire codes :)
So please pick us we promise to put these candles to good use…and they are VERY needed for us right now!!
Woohoo! I’m dying for lots and lots and LOTS of votives! Specifically, the frosted glass ones. Why? Because our wedding is in Los Cabos, Mexico, in a backyard on the beach. The only real lighting option we have is CANDLES! We are doing a cocktail party type wedding with lounge furniture, so I want to have votives on the coffee tables that are scattering the backyard, votives all around the pool, and votives coming down the stairs from the villa to the backyard. In October in Los Cabos, the sun is completely set by 5:30 so we will need these candles for most of the night. I would be SO ecstatic to win these beautiful votives!
these would be perfect.. PERFECT for my reception. it’ll be under a tent, which can definitely be helped by lots and lots of candles on every table. instead of lighting them all beforehand, we’ll have custom labeled matchbooks on every table (’cmon baby light my fire!) and someone (likely my dad) will make some sort of toast and have everyone light the candles at once. what a magical moment!
I love the clear candle holders for my reception tables! We’re getting real simple, low centerpieces so the candles would really add something to the decor! we’re also having an outdoor area with heat lamps and we wanted to sprawl some of the candles out on some of the tables as well!
The votives with clear candle holders! We found a wonderful venue with clean lines…but, it doesn’t have much lighting. Though romantic, I’m afraid it’ll be too dim at night so we’d love to scatter the votives along with flower petals to dress up the reception tables.
I’ve been hunting for votives with clear glass holders that aren’t super expensive for a month or two. I love the idea of scattering them around all the tables at our reception!
I need these! I would choose the clear, because our venue has a stone patio edged with a stone wall and I want to do candles all along one side of the wall! This would help so much!
I would use the clear or frosted votive holders. They would be part of my table design. I am having a centerpiece of bamboo with votives scattered around the bamboo arrangement in the middle of the table. The clear or frosted votives would help with my vision for a clean, simple table design.
I would definitely use the frosted votives! We are going to have TONS of different sized candles on all the reception tables to add a romantic and elegant glow to the room. I love candles and these would be the perfect touch!
I would use the clear or frosted votive holders. We will have about 20 tables which require a lot of candles… this would certainly help with our limited budget!!
I would use the clear votive holders and attach love poems or quotes printed on pink vellum. I have 16 oval tables and need 6 to 8 candles per table … so 144 candles is PERFECT! :)
I would use the frosted votive holders. My one idea for my wedding before I ever started planning it was to have lots and lots of candle light. After searching high and low for a location that allows it I am on the search for candles that match the Victorian interior of my venue. These would be perfect. I would line them up all along the book shelves in the main room where our reception will be.
frosted votive candles and candle holders for my wedding reception. According to the feng shui master, we should have lots of fire at the reception since my element is metal and he does have some “fire” but lots of “fire” to help balance us. Decorated everywhere: centerpieces, check-in table, photo table, etc etc etc. =)
Um, no way! I found “Cudge” on this site! I just bookmarked 72 white votives in frosted cups! (But trust me 144 would be GREAT–I could even share w/ another bride!) I plan to encircle the potted orchid we are putting in the center of each table with these. Our venue won’t let us use candles w/ wicks higher than the holder, so these are ideal. Thanks again for another superb (yet practical) contest!
I would choose the clear votives. We are planning to use cake stands as center pieces, so we can place the votives on that. We want to use candlelight only, since we get married in November.
They would be perfect for our christmas wedding! I would line the aisle with them, leading to a bright future. I would use the rest to have family and friends hold them and light them one by one during the ceremony to show their support for us. :)
