Here We Go…

January 31st, 2009 @ 4:40 pm by Mrs. Peep Toe

Steelers.

Here we go.

Pittsburgh’s going to the Super Bowl!

I just had to give a shout out to the Pittsburgh Steelers! I know that there are at least a couple Pittsburgh Steelers fans on Weddingbee.

While I have never even been to Pittsburgh, Mr. Peep and I met while watching the Steelers make their way through the Playoffs to the Super Bowl against Seattle in 2006! What I didn’t mention was that Mr. PT and I texted throughout the entire game - mostly bantering back and forth about the bad calls they were making against Seattle. Both of our sisters (who we were both respectively with) thought we were crazy. But I really do think that our relationship started that day over football and text messages (sounds like love, right?).

source.

Anyway, three years later, as we are about to get married, the Steelers have made it to the Super Bowl once again. The best part - this year we get to watch it together.

While we may not be waving a rally towel, we will be rooting for the Steelers on Sunday with the same folks we watched the playoff games with three years ago.

Go Troy!!

P.S. - Mr. Peep grew up in Arizona, but I think we have to root for the Steelers for the sake of our relationship. That, and I am afraid of what the Best Man will say at our wedding if we don’t!

Do you have a moment before your first date that defines your relationship?

I just wanted to add “Go Steelers!”
My man already pulled out his terrible towels…
This morning, he told me he had a bad dream… the Steelers lost in overtime. The score was 31/31 in his dream. I tried to console him, I called my mom. She said it wasn’t a bad dream, it was a nightmare.

I guess I will be attempting to make his favorite cookies to console and relieve his pregame nerves.

Men.

Thanks for the Steelers shout-out Miss Peep (and the gratuitous picture of Troy Polamalu)! You are a bride of excellent football taste. My fiance and I had just started dating when Steelers went to the Super Bowl in 2006, and now we’ll be watching them play in the Bowl again four months before our wedding!

I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to have a Steelers fan talk about the horrible calls made against Seattle!!! We were dying out here in Seattle watching that game. Good luck tomorrow!!!

@kim0309- good luck tomorrow! Hope the wedding is still happening on Monday.

@meganmp- I only root for the Steelers since that’s how we met. If they were playing Seattle- I’d be in the same shoes as kim0309!

Super Cute Story! I’m not allowed to route for the Steelers at my house, but if they win, I feel happy for you :)
Before FH and I officially meet in person (we met on Match.com) we talked on AIM one night while I was watching Breakfast at Tiffany’s, that moment kinda defines our relationship b/c we LOVE Moonriver b/c of it :)

GO CARDS!

Steelers fans, be sure to keep those towels close by–you’ll need ‘em to wipe away your tears after the game!

Ok, I’m done with my trash-talkin’ here! :)

OK- Arizona is getting NO love in this feed….and personally I like to root for the underdog. The Steelers have had a lot of success for a long time, so go CARDS! Plus, since I am marrying into a hardcore Cleveland Browns family, I cannot root for the Steelers.

My Story: My fiance and I had our first date and a Cleveland Indians game. His funny (not vulgar or rude) chants to the opposing team (the Red Soxs) won me over.

We have made it a tradition to go to opening day and then he proposed in a more secluded part of the stadium (heritage park, for all you cleveland fans) since it was the site of our first date….so I guess baseball has defined our relationship.

A Pittsburgh girl knows just as much about football as her guy friends. She drinks beer because it tastes good but knows when to be classy and drink something more sophisticated. She owns a Steeler jersey not just because it’s cute but because she supports her team and understands the game. She loves Kennywood and isn’t afraid to order cheese fries from the potato patch because, lets face it, Pittsburgh girls wear winter coats and scarves a lot more than bikinis and flip flops. A Pittsburgh girl loves St. Patrick’s Day even if she’s not Irish because green beer is good for the soul. Pittsburgh girls don’t have a funny accent. They just speak a different language. The word “yinz” is dear to hear heart. A Pittsburgh girl bleeds black and gold and knows how to have a great time. She’s stylish and sweet and never trashy. She has a great education and loves her friends and family. A Pittsburgh girl goes to church on Sunday hung over, only to be let out by the priest early because the Steelers kick off at one. A Pittsburgh girl might not live by the beach but the three rivers are just as good. She has seen all four seasons and has a reason to love and hate each of them. She’s the type of girl you can call late at night and spill your heart out to. She’s the type you can take home to mom and dad without worrying they won’t like her. Because everyone loves a Pittsburgh girl. If you need a girl to take to the game, she’ll be there. If you need a friend to help you out at the mall, she’ll be there. If you need a drinking buddy, she’ll be there with her IC light.

You can take the girl out of Pittsburgh…
But you can’t take the Pittsburgh out of the girl!

CONGRATS TO THE STEELERS!!! When I first met my fiance I was an Eagles fan! Well I grew up one…my dad loves them! But I wasnt much of a big fan as I used to be when I was younger. And Mr. Steelers won my heart over with his love for the team. As I type I am sitting in our Steelers computer chair! We love the Steelers!! :) So I can say for three years now I have been a Steelers fan…well I always was…my dad would switch to the Steelers game when the Eagles were losing!! Hey they are both a PA team!! GO STEELERS!

My fiancé and I met while painting a hallway in a church. He was the junior high youth pastor, and I was volunteering my time. The paint was black and neon green- and to this day, he uses those colors for special things (cards he makes me, things he buys, etc.)

but i refused to have those as our wedding colors! ha!
