Mrs. Hydrangea, DallasAge and Occupation: 26, Administrative AssistantFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Network AnalystEngagement Date: June 2007Wedding Date: September 2008Blogging Since: January 14, 2008Venue: Catholic Church and Reception at The W HotelAbout Me: Mr. H and I come from very different cultures and backgrounds so I'm excited to plan our wedding with a balance of both traditions. My mom has always been a DIY queen, and I'm just now starting to get into it with a new house and a wedding to plan!
Just wanted to send out a reminder to all of the DFW brides that Mrs. Avocado and myself are still planning to get together THIS Saturday, January 24th, to see Bride Wars! We’ve heard from a few girls, but we are trying to knock out a final time, so check out our post on the WB Local Boards and let us know if you might be able to attend! We’d love to meet you all!
Mrs. Perfume, DCAge and Occupation: 36, Consultant (and Part-Time Professor)Fiance's Age and Occupation: 41, ConsultantEngagement Date: May 13, 2008Wedding Date: May, 2009Venue: The Homestead, Hot Springs, VirginiaAbout Me: I'd like to think that I'm a modern day Little Edie Beale. Only not as..."talented". More realistically, I'm a foodie who can't bake; a dancer and dilettente; an art collector with a penchant for the whimsical and subversive. I live in the city and adore the country, but not much in between. I like smart design, great craftmanship and good value. Most of all, I love the new vintage aesthetic: classic, sweet, delicate, bespoke. If I had to do it all over again, I'd go for a culinary arts degree rather than a PhD; but wouldn't trade Mr. P for the world.
We had planned a trip to the Homestead resort last year to, ostensibly, have a bit of a mini-vacation. Approximately 3 hours from our home in downtown Washington, DC, it’s close enough to drive and far enough to feel like a real getaway, so we visit quite often. However, this was the weekend after the proposal, and turned out to be no ordinary visit. And so it was… yet another surprise! Mr. P had actually planned it to be a wedding venue scouting trip!
Mrs. Lollipop, PittsburghAge and Occupation: 26, Computational LinguistFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Project ManagerEngagement Date: August 2, 2006Wedding Date: September 2, 2007Blogging Since: July 17, 2007Venue: The PPG Aquarium at the Pittsburgh ZooAbout Me: I'm a Pittsburgh transplant who grew up in the deep south. I have a weakness for exotic alphabets, DIY projects, mobster movies and international travel. My fiance and I are both non-native Japanese speakers and we have a bullfrog named Skinny.
Mr. Lollipop and I received a whole box of china for free from a liquidating antique store. I think the owners just wanted one less thing to carry away, but I can always find a use for pottery, especially if I’m allowed to smash it or draw on it. And, of course, since I’m a fan of robots and tiny things I’ll be drawing lots of little robots on my ceramic pieces. Read more…

Mrs. Sea Breeze, Vancouver/Dominican RepublicAge in 2008 and Occupation: 30, Communications ManagerFiance's Age in 2008 and Occupation: 29, Experiential Marketing DirectorEngagement Date: October 6, 2007Wedding Date: November, 2008Blogging Since: July 17, 2008Venue: Majestic Colonial Resort, Punta CanaAbout Me: Planning a destination wedding by the sea should be (oh no she di-in't…) a breeze (…*sigh* yep, she did) but when you've never been to the Caribbean, your powers of imagination are really put to the test. Luckily, I'm 90% resourceful, creative optimist (and kooky, neurotic practicalist-if-that's-a-word for the other ten). Other than writing about our week-long celebration of family, friends, laughter and love, I adore books, shoes and… you guessed it… long walks on the beach.
Castle Bride Couture is giving away one of their stunning birdcage veils to one lucky Weddingbee reader! These one of a kind pieces are all handcrafted, and are sure to bring a little extra glamour to your big day.
Mrs. Peep Toe, San FranciscoAge and Occupation: 29, Policy AnalystFiance's Age and Occupation: 36, Olive Oil Production ManagerEngagement Date: December 16, 2007Wedding Date: May, 2009Blogging Since: November 26, 2008Venue: Hotel VitaleAbout Me: I am a west coast lady who loves the San Francisco Bay Area. I love living with Mr. Peep and our animals: Huck the Dog and Ferris the Cat. I work to save the environment in San Francisco, while Mr. Peep makes ridiculously delicious Olive Oil. On any day you can find me reading the latest book I have gotten my hands on, eating Swedish Fish, and perusing wedding blogs! We are both champagne drinking foodies on a Bud Light budget. We are planning an eco-chic, intimate, and interfaith San Francisco City wedding.
As I said before, everyone was excited to celebrate our engagement. So, I flew down South with Mama Peep Toe for my first shower. Even though the city was just recovering from Hurricane Ike, we both got an amazing introduction to Houston ’House’-pitality!!
My future in-laws, including Mr. Peep’s Mom, sister, and two Aunts, hosted a beautiful afternoon lunch at Grotto Ristorante. I’d highly recommend it to any Houston Bride looking for a place to host a lunch or dinner!
Mrs. Meatball, HollywoodAge and Occupation: 30, Actor/Writer/Office MavenFiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Actor/WriterEngagement Date: October 7, 2007Wedding Date: May, 2009Blogging Since: September 16, 2008Venue: Private Garden/The Bungalow ClubAbout Me: I love melty cheese and diet coke almost as much as I love my man. I'm from Chicago, he's from NYC, and we both miss public transit and great pizza. We have an adorable muppet dog called Paco. I'm part hippie with a healthy dash of hip hop superstar, have excessive empathy for animals, and have not one, but two bionic eyes (long story). We're broke and it ain't no joke. It can't stop us from planning the bold and whimsical wedding of our dreams, but we've had to get pretty creative to make it work, yo!
One of our major goals as we plan our wedding is to reduce as much excess waste as possible by recycling, reselling, or sharing as many extraneous items from the day. Now there are sites devoted to helping us do just that. One new site on the block, which aims to help facilitate bridal re-sales of gently used wares, is BravoBride.
What I love about BravoBride is how it allows you to give back. When you shop at BravoBride, you’re passing along items you no longer need to someone who will one day do the same. It’s the ultimate Bridal Karma… both Earth-friendly and economical. You’re also making a stand for women’s health when you buy and sell on BravoBride, since they donate a portion of all proceeds to the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Foundation. In the past year I've lived in Baltimore, MD, Tucson, AZ, Miami, FL and Lancaster, England. In my not so spare time I enjoy planning trips with Mr. D' Orsay, visiting friends and family and crafting like a mo-fo. I also enjoy modern dance classes, rugby and soccer but have been banned by my mother, MOHs, and Mr. D' Orsay from playing till after the wedding. I have an unnatural addiction to cheese and shoes, but love Mr. D' Orsay more than either and can't wait to become Mrs. D' Orsay!

In the US you’ll use an I-129 F form to apply for a K1 visa, which gives you the right to marry a US citizen. This way, if you intend to switch back and forth between your home countries, everything will be much easier (or so we hear). There are ways to get around this route, but we’re playing it safe since we’re not sure which country we’ll be living in yet. Read more…

We recently added a Fitness Forum, based on a suggestion by HumarockBride. The new forum has been getting a lot of use, which was great to see! Building on that success, we’ve been slowly adding forums one by one over the last week or so. Board posting is way up, and the new forums make the site feel cozier than ever!
All posts still show up on the main board, but now if you just want to read about flowers, you can click on the flowers tab to do so. Hopefully it’s made the boards more organized and easier to navigate.
Emotional is a board where you can get emotional support from your fellow bees. The Lounge is the board formerly known as NWR, where you can hang out and chat about anything non wedding related. And the Waiting Board? That’s just for gals who aren’t engaged yet.
We’re going to need help making sure these new forums get going, and that’s where you guys come in! We’re looking for hive Hostesses to help make each forum a friendly, welcoming place filled with inspiration and advice for brides-to-bee. If you’re an insightful, personal, helpful, active member of the Weddingbee community, please find out more information about applying here!
Mrs. Avocado, SeattleAge and Occupation: 23, StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, ConsultantEngagement Date: July 27, 2008Wedding Date: October, 2008Blogging Since: June 30, 2008Venue: LDS Seattle Temple & Hotel 1000About Me: Somehow this little farm girl found herself a genuine Pole to fall in love and eventually move away to Poland with. I am an LDS bride attempting to plan a private religious ceremony, ring ceremony, seated reception for 100, and an open house while coordinating for guests flying in from across the United States and as far away as Poland. I try to avoid fads, excess waste, and saturated fat. I strongly endorse photography, DDR, calorie counting, rss feeds, cooking, and utilizing your resources.
We exited through the sliding glass doors right into the library area thinking we were going to have to stand around and greet all of our guests receiving line-style, as has been the case for every single LDS wedding I have ever attended. We were lucky and that didn’t happen! Over the course of the weekend we gave our guests several opportunities to spend time with us so there was no need. Phew!
That didn’t stop my recently married best friend from charting a course in my direction to give me the Pre-Wedding Night Chat. “Are you nervous?” she asked me. “Don’t lie to me, just tell me how you are doing.” As a culture of virgins, this talk runs rampant throughout the celebration.
Mrs. Deviled Egg, PittsburghAge and Occupation: 27, Public RelationsFiance's Age and Occupation: 28, AccountingEngagement Date: December 24, 2007Wedding Date: May, 2009Blogging Since: October 21, 2008Venue: Historic auditorium and meeting hall in one of Pittsburgh's commuter citiesAbout Me: I am obsessed with all things crafty, especially scrapbooking, knitting, jewelry-making & cake decorating. I also love being an aunt, wrapping presents, watching football (Go Steelers!), shopping at yard sales and consignment stores, procrastinating, singing and learning to play the guitar. When it comes to wedding planning, I'm excited about working on DIY projects and finding creative ways to stay under budget. Of course, nothing is more exciting to me than knowing that the wonderful Mr. Deviled Egg will be my husband.
I see a real value in having a gift registry. For occasions such as weddings and new babies, it’s inevitable that people will want to buy gifts. So, why not provide them with a list of items you need/want/like so you don’t end up with things that are the wrong color or something you already have? I know some people don’t see a need for registering for gifts, but I’m one of those people who appreciates registries and I try my best to buy from them. I don’t see them as a necessity and I certainly don’t think a gift purchased from off the registry list is any less significant, but I do think registries can be a great way to help guide friends and family to items that suit your needs and your style.
When it came time for Mr. Deviled Egg and I to think about registering, I really didn’t think too much of it. I mean, how hard could it be? You go to the store, you pick out items you need and want, you scan them with the “gun” provided, and ta-da! Registry created!
Well, Mr. DE and I headed to Kohl’s on Saturday to create a registry and I was kind of surprised by how difficult it was. We really didn’t have any disagreements when it came to selecting items. For the majority of the time, I let him work the scanning gun, we compromised on a few things, and we each scanned a few things we personally wanted to add to our list.

I am blessed to share my life with Mr. Spring Roll and our two shih tzu's, Isabella and Gabriella. Hello Kitty, musicals, Target, and Chick-fil-a are a few of my favorite things. I have a fear of fish and Freddy Krueger. Planning our wedding has become a huge part of my life, and I love every minute of it!
Back when Mr. Spring Roll and I first became engaged, I started a wedding website at MyWedding. You see, I started, and well, never quite finished. No big deal, right? Wrong. We included the website information in our invitations, and with t-minus two days until they are to be mailed, I had to finish the website.
After a can or two of Mountain Dew, and into the wee hours (okay, 12 o’clock, but hey I’m usually in bed by 9), I finished our wedding website. Read more…

Mr. Taffy and I are having a blast planning our Ann Arbor wedding, and cannot wait to share our day with friends and family.
I had never heard of a Xyron machine until Mrs. Hydrangea posted about it here. A Xyron machine creates stickers out of anything that is thin enough to pass through it. I had been interested in wrapping a ribbon around the top of the vases for our centerpieces, and this looked like the perfect way to go! I was under the impression that buying a Xyron machine would be a pretty big investment, especially since I rarely scrapbook. I thought I would have to drop at least $30 or $40, plus money for the adhesive refills. Last week I went to take the plunge, Jo-Ann’s coupon in hand. I was delighted to find this tiny model, which only cost me $6 after my 40% off coupon! The adhesive refills are also under $6.
