I'm balancing my love for the environment and my hubby-to-be's love for tradition to create our "green wedding in disguise." Our wedding will include local food and wine, antique touches and lots of love and laughter. When wedding planning isn't taking up my free time (and money) I love to read, cook, workout, watch baseball and travel! Follow along in my adventure as I attempt to plan an eco-friendly and socially responsible wedding (with eco-oblivious Mr. Pinot Noir).
Weddings are chance for friends and families to come together and celebrate a new union and commitment of love. It is also a time to reminisce, celebrate family and remember loved ones. SIL Pinot made us an amazing video montage of our childhood and our relationship together.
The incredible video was the perfect way to tie together our past and our future.
We can’t even begin to thank SIL Pinot enough for creating such a meaningful video for us. It something that we will cherish for many years to come. Read more…

After two years, he moved to my neck of the woods, and a year and a half after that, he proposed at the “place we fell in love.” I am a true perfectionist who enjoys designing and creating more work for myself, so wedding planning is my perfect outlet. Or anywhere in France, for that matter!). I’m a full-time worker, part-time student, soon-to-be-step-mom, indie music lovin’, architecture and design fanatic, macaroni and cheese addict, vegetarian, Francophile, Ohio State football obsessed, wedding planning girl. Mr. Quiche and I are “Partners-in-Crime” and cannot wait to celebrate our marriage surrounded by our family and closest friends. I plan on DIYing my little heart out (or as much as a suitcase to Jamaica will hold).
… harmony is what we constantly strive for.” - Charlotte Moss
Our vision for our wedding hasn’t really strayed too far from our initial concept– regardless of location, we knew that we wanted to blend a casual yet preppy vibe. And now that we’ve decided to get married in Jamaica, we’re throwing in the tropical aspect as well.
Tropical + Casual + Preppy = somewhat of a mess.
Tropical & casual, yes. Casual & Preppy, yes-ish. But Tropical & Preppy? When I think “preppy” I think country club, but I’ve discovered that it doesn’t have to be that way.

I love shoes, laughing at “Platinum Weddings”, crafts, inspiration boards, candy, and basically anything I can DIY. While weddings can certainly be all-consuming, I honestly can’t wait until the ceremony is over and I can finally call Mr. Powder Puff my husband!
Lately I’ve been obsessed with rehearsal dinner dresses. Don’t ask me why. I know it’s a long way off, but my fingers are just itchin’ to check out pretty spring frocks! Maybe it’s my subconscious telling me I need to go shopping…
Money matters are always tricky. When we were first engaged, my FI’s family thought my family might WANT to pay for our wedding on their own. I felt that was a little weird to hear because to me, we were in the age where the mentality was more like: let’s split the cost. That is, unless you can pay for your wedding, or one family is much better off, so the balance might naturally be tipped. Neither of these is our situation. As it turns out, both sides are contributing to make our wedding happen, though I will say my family taking on more expenses, and we are trying to save up to help as well.
Our balance is fine and all are happy, but I am still curious: Did your FI’s family make a contribution or is the tradition of the bride’s family paying still alive?

My idea of a great date night is dinner and clearance shopping with Mr. Ballet Flat! I currently live below sea level in the suburbs near New Orleans, where I make maps all day, everyday for my job. I'm slowly becoming more and more obsessed with anything New Orleans related for our wedding, and I can't wait for the big day!
Thanks again to everyone in the hive for your support in my journey to a healthier lifestyle! I know with the New Year, I started a workout routine and realized, oh gosh, I have no gear! I need gear! So, some of my Christmas money went towards workout gear!
First, I realized that my lame excuses for sports bras were not gonna cut it. I bought them a few years back at Lane Bryant, and during my step test, all I could feel (besides the excruciating thigh pain) were the girls bouncing.
So, I went to Target and looked, hoping for a plus sized sports bra. I didn’t see anything made for plus size, but I found this:

I love living with Mr. Peep and our animals: Huck the Dog and Ferris the Cat. I work to save the environment in San Francisco, while Mr. Peep makes ridiculously delicious Olive Oil. On any day you can find me reading the latest book I have gotten my hands on, eating Swedish Fish, and perusing wedding blogs! We are both champagne drinking foodies on a Bud Light budget. We are planning an eco-chic, intimate, and interfaith San Francisco City wedding.
Brother Peep was tasked with toasting Mr.Peep and me at our engagement party. First off, my brother is a writer; second, he and his wife have been together for about 12 years and married for over six years, and they now have two of the most ridiculously cute kids ever, and third, he’s one of the best guys out there, and possibly the best dad EVER.
So to me, his advice is worth taking. Here’s his toast to us, word for word:
Okay, so I’ll admit it, I don’t know the secret to the perfect marriage. I don’t know if such a thing exists. Because I think if marriage was perfect, it wouldn’t be. I won’t waste your time philosophizing about the key to a successful marriage. For each couple that answer is their own. What I will offer are 10 bits of wisdom I have gleaned from my time as a husband and a Dad. That’s right, 10, because that’s what the marketing department came up with. Read more…

After 2 years of over 3,000 miles between us, Mr. Latte and I are looking forward to finally living in the same time zone/coast/city/home and living “normal couple” lives. I am a crafter at heart and enjoy dragging my friends into new craft projects. I love my Mac, baking cupcakes, wrapping presents, my BlackBerry, naps, good NY style pizza, Jack Bauer and of course, Mr. Latte. I love him a latte. :)
Now that the dress search has come to a happy ending, are you ready to move on? YES, me too. Next up? Wedding colors!
I think wedding color combos are super important as they can pretty much set the scene/feel/mood of the wedding. Other aspects, of course, work to create a final “look”, but colors invoke such a strong feeling that will translate to the wedding day. For example… close your eyes… what words come to mind when you think of these colors?
Yellow and white? Light and fresh!
Black and white? Formal and modern!
Orange and brown? Warm and cozy!
As usual, I had a hard time choosing colors. Mr. Latte and I wanted our wedding to have a clean, crisp and casual feeling for our guests. So we had to think outside of the proverbial (Crayola) box to come up with a palette that fit our wedding style.
Mr Latte’s only request was that the colors weren’t too “girly”. Read more…
Mrs. D'orsay, Baltimore/Lancaster UKAge and Occupation: 24, nonprofit communications Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Web site developer and designer; co-owner of men's skincare shopEngagement Date: August 10, 2008Wedding Date: August, 2009Venue: Oakland ManorAbout Me: I'm a Maryland raised environmental policy wonk/activist/organizer and communications aficionado. In the past year I've lived in Baltimore, MD, Tucson, AZ, Miami, FL and Lancaster, England. In my not so spare time I enjoy planning trips with Mr. D' Orsay, visiting friends and family and crafting like a mo-fo. I also enjoy modern dance classes, rugby and soccer but have been banned by my mother, MOHs, and Mr. D' Orsay from playing till after the wedding. I have an unnatural addiction to cheese and shoes, but love Mr. D' Orsay more than either and can't wait to become Mrs. D' Orsay!
So after you’ve seen how NOT to emboss your invitations, I should probably show you how to emboss them.
We ordered custom stamps, used dark brown ink, and took the pads out of their containers to make a larger stamp pad. We also used a Stamp-A-Majig, a heat gun from Jo-Ann’s and, last but not least, clear embossing powder.
Step one: Set your Stamp-A-Majig to where you’d like to stamp.

Luckily, I'm 90% resourceful, creative optimist (and kooky, neurotic practicalist-if-that's-a-word for the other ten). Other than writing about our week-long celebration of family, friends, laughter and love, I adore books, shoes and… you guessed it… long walks on the beach.
Although our flight to the Dominican Republic was long, it was (thankfully) pretty uneventful. We stepped off the plane eagerly, our eyes soaking up all the lush greenness and… uh… thatched roofs? Yup, that’s the Punta Cana airport:
We got our luggage - none of which went missing, thank goodness! - and found our tour operator’s booth where a representative directed us to a waiting bus.
We then embarked on a bumpy 45 minute ride to the Majestic Colonial Resort. I was so antsy to get to the place I had been reading and researching about for the past 10 months that it was all sort of a blur. My bridesmaid Miss P had more of her wits about her and snapped some shots. Read more…

Finally we had arrived at the photo shoot I was most looking forward to that day! My bridesmaids were looking hot in their non-matching dresses and mini veils, with their cocktail rings and black and gold shoes. The weather was cooperating and we only had to walk one block down to find a nice deserted street with all kinds of nooks and crannies with wonderful lighting.
You would think that my Roman bridal shoot would have prepared me for photos with a crowd of people gathered around, but I did feel oddly self conscious. Read more…

This is Aubie, the much beloved mascot of Auburn University. Mr. CC is a huge Auburn fan, and I’m coming along. However, I do not like Aubie at all.
There is something mildly disturbing about the person behind that oversized head. I think my dislike has something to do with the unknown element here. Who is that exactly behind that oversized head, or that ridiculous clown makeup? (I hate clowns too, for the same reason.)
So, this takes me to the point at hand. Read more…
