I had barely recovered from Mr. D’s surprise before the DJ announced that the father-daughter dance would begin in a couple minutes. I left to quickly change back into my gown. I know it is atypical to change back, but I just loved my gown and I wanted to be dancing with my dad and Mr. D in it

A two-year engagement has given us oodles of time to think about our honeymoon. (Yes, I said oodles.) We are mostly set on Europe. Mr. G has never been to Europe and is dying to go. I have been to a few European countries, but have never been to Italy and want to partake in a romantic Italian escape. However, I will return to thoughts on a Roman Holiday in a future post.
Tokyo: Who goes to Japan and doesn’t visit Tokyo?! Mr. G and I are slightly obsessed with every image we glimpse of this amazing city…

Our second engagement shoot was in New York City, by J’adore Love Photography, who I found on the Weddingbee classifieds. You bees should really take advantage of all the bee resources! Efrain and Jennifer from J’adore Love Photography are sooo cute; seriously they should be in front of the camera rather than behind it! We met them in Times Square. We shot there, Bryant Park, and just outside the New York public library. It was very cold out, which made it difficult to find “cute” outfits and still keep warm. We did the best that we could do considering the weather.
A few of our favorites:
Reader LnA is selling a pair of Kenneth Cole “Wicked Rich” shoes. They are 7.5 red peep toe pumps with rhinestones. They have never been worn and are brand new in box. She is asking for $60.

January 5th and it’s back to the daily grind. I really wasn’t looking forward to going back to work, but I am excited that it’s 2009! There is so much for me to look forward to this year including finding a new place to live, taking on new responsibilities at work and, of course, the whole getting married thing. ![]()
I took advantage of the few days I had away from work over the holidays to tackle some DIY projects for the wedding. One project in particular I had on the to-do list was crafting a gift for my bridesmaids.
Disclaimer: If you are one of my bridesmaids, please don’t read any further unless you want to ruin the surprise. I know at least a few of you girls have been checking out Weddingbee lately, so I’m talking to you! Don’t read the rest of this post!

Nicknames are a very common thing in our family. Everyone has them, ranging from cute (Scooter), to inside joke-ish (Ralph Harrison), to funny (Spike and Mitzi). Everyone except me has one.
Now, there is a very common version of my name that my parents and others have called me throughout the years, but that doesn’t count. I’ve never had a real nickname that has stuck.
Until now.
Over this Christmas break, my dad resurrected a nickname that he and my family tried to apply to me a couple of years ago… Nibs.

We wanted our immediate family portraits to be epic. We wanted something we would get excited about hanging on our wall. So we restructured the day a little bit and asked our parents and my sister to meet us in the woods after our own portrait session and before our marriage ceremony. I realize now that if we didn’t have the vintage suitcases, the plan would not have worked and we all would have been taking portraits standing in a line in the middle of the woods. There is nothing epic about that.
But something magic happened when we added those suitcases to the mix and the shots became really beautiful. Well, they would be beautiful if the two lovebirds front and center could take their eyes off each other long enough to look at the camera!
Has anyone here ever had an “unlimited” invite to the ceremony but only invited a few guests to their reception?
Just a weird random idea - any thoughts?
Thanks!

Dear Trailmonkey,
Under most circumstances I do not think it would be proper to have a large ceremony but a small reception. As I see it, the purpose of a reception is for you to greet your guests and thank them for coming and for them to say hello and congratulate you—not to throw a big party or to treat everyone to an expensive meal, although these are also nice gestures.

Honestly, we have no clue. But that doesn’t stop everyone from asking…

Neither of us is adverse to living in the other’s country, which actually makes the decision harder than you’d think. The tough part is that whichever country we choose, one of us will have to move there without a job while all the immigration paperwork goes through.

As a plus sized girl, I’ve always found it difficult to get the cute clothes that fit me well! I’m a tall size 22 and that seems to be the size of the season in plus sized stores. So, whenever I shop, I have to pay full price (no sales on this size). So, to justify the price, I often find myself just wearing what I buy until it gets holes in it.
Yes, I was hopeful in the beginning to not be plus size when it came time for the wedding, but now that I’m a little under 5 months away from the big day, it’s time to face the music!
I remember reading on The Knot about all the cute bridal accessories available in stores and online. The problem?

I hope you all had an amazing holiday. I took some time off from blogging in order to fully enjoy our first Christmas as husband and wife.

While we wrapped up 2008 with many wonderful memories, these memories also left us a bit strapped for cash and vacation time. As a result we spent our first married Christmas in New York City, and our first Christmas away from my family in Minnesota. Mr. PN and I have spent the last 4 years celebrating Christmas in Minnesota. It’s a pretty big holiday for my family and I’m grateful that I’ve got a monopoly on it*.

I have been racking up miles for years and years on Alaska Airlines for an amazing trip. I have waited so long that I could get Mr. Peep and I practically any where in the world- except for Africa or Australia.
Now using miles isn’t always the easiest route- it takes persistence. And Mr. Peep and I were all over the map.
First Mr. Peep and I thought it would be absolutely amazing to go to Chile and Argentina and go skiing, yet finding a reservation that worked was hard and we were told that there may not be snow in June. How much would it suck to fly half way across the globe for snow and find out that it wasn’t there yet!!
Right about that time, SIL and BIL Peep came back from their honeymoon in Bali and raved and raved and raved about it. I called at least a dozen times to see if I could get tickets to Bali, or anywhere in Southeast Asia for that matter, but all the flights pivoted around Hong Kong, and each time we got stranded in Hong Kong with no way back.

Can you believe I have been blogging on Weddingbee for over a year and I have yet to show you my ring? What kind of poor excuse for a bride am I, right? Well, since everyone else is doing it (and yes, if they were going to jump off of a bridge, I would do that, too), I figured there was no better time than now to show you my bling. With the help of Anne Ruthman’s amazing tutorial and my beloved new Panasonic Lumix TZ-5 point-and-shoot (by far the best purchase we made for our honeymoon), I went to town.
While in Brooklyn visiting Brother and SIL Cupcake in November, we went to Brooklyn Flea and picked up this amazing vintage letterpress type drawer. It was a great prop to showcase my rings! We are planning on somehow making it into a table of some sort one day. I’ll leave that up to Mr. C to figure out…
Tropical location or not, I will do everything in my power to have preppiness incorporated into as many aspects of the wedding that I can. One place where this was easy to do was in the bridesmaids’ dresses. You see, I love seersucker. Love it. However, the quest for seersucker bridesmaid dresses isn’t easy or cheap. The one site I found them on was ridiculously expensive (for COTTON, people!) and not exactly the style I was envisioning.

I wasn’t crazy about the striped fabric for the wedding.
I knew from the beginning that I wanted navy blue dresses for my girls. Perfectly preppy, crisp, and it is one of my favorite colors. The search for “Navy Seersucker Dresses” took me to good ol’ target.com and that’s when I found the perfect dress:
Sorry for the vulgar post title, but I’m guessing I got your attention!
I want to talk about wedding band engraving, and I can’t help but reference the sometimes forgettable, but kinda cute movie, License to Wed. For those of you unfamiliar with this flick, John Krasinski and Mandy Moore star as a soon-to-be married couple who face all kinds of challenges trying to get “licensed to wed” by their officiant (Robin Williams). There is a small part where John goes to the jeweler to pick up the wedding band he had engraved for Mandy. Upon closer inspection of the finished ring, John notices that instead of engraving his desired phrase, “Never to Part”, the jewelers inscribed, “Never to Fart”. You can view the funny clip here. For some reason, the website wouldn’t let me embed the clip.
Mr. G and I love the idea of engraving our rings. We know couples that have engraved thoughtful and meaningful phrases into their rings: wedding dates, song lyrics, bible verses, private nicknames, and the list goes on. We have grappled with our chosen inscription.
