What to Do With a Barren Table…

February 2nd, 2009 @ 3:43 pm by Mrs. Blush

… add more stuff!

I was very cautious in making sure that our tables looked decorative, yet not overcrowded and messy. Originally, we were going to use name cards placed on napkins, but after realizing our tables needed an extra thing or two, I added these…

I bought 200 of these glass votives from Old Time Pottery for 39 cents each, and stuffed them with crinkle cut crimped paper shreds. Since it was right after the holidays, the Blush Ladies (MamaBlush, SisterBlush, AuntBlush, and myself) accumulated many Sephora boxes—and the insides of these boxes contained tons of crinkle cut crimped paper shreds! Thus, there was no need to buy the crinkle paper. What to Do With a Barren Table... : wedding decor diy reception Winky winky

Then came the labels…

The Avery website allows you to download most of their label formats. I created this simple design in Word in less than 2 minutes. (Well, aside from the many font changes—we all know how long a font decision can take! What to Do With a Barren Table... : wedding decor diy reception Silly silly ) The labels pictured above are actually labels we used for our OOT bags. I can’t find the picture of the labels we used for the Hershey Kisses, but they were the same design, just smaller.

Luckily, PapaBlush and Mr. Blush were willing to take over the “stick the sticker on the bottom of a bazillion Hershey Kisses” task, so it saved me a lot of time.

After adding the crinkle paper and 12 Hershey Kisses to each votive, it was on to the name flags. I bought 200 lollipop sticks from Jo-Ann’s and spray painted them silver. Then I printed our guests’ names on paper and cut them into rectangles using a paper cutter. I super-glued the names on to the lollipop sticks and plopped them right into the beds of Hershey Kisses.

This is the only picture I could find—if you can imagine the name flag sticking straight up and a few more Kisses in the votive, that would be what our finished product looked like.

How are you decorating a barren table?

Very cost effective idea Blush. Also a sweet idea. I like that silver kisses are so color neutral, so they can be used for lots of different wedding themes.

So cute! I saw on Martha that you can put your photos on the stickers too to personalize them.

I did these same kisses! I also downloaded the template from the Avery Dennison site! We did a mix of our monogram and pictures of our dog! The ones with our dog on them are our favorite!

We are trying to do the same thing, but can’t find the labels (3/4 in circles) or template on the Avery site. Can someone direct us to the right labels? Thanks!
