DIY Pop-Up Thank You Cards

February 3rd, 2009 @ 6:17 pm by Mrs. Green Tea

I’m finally finished with my thank you cards! It takes only 4 steps to create this simple pop-up, here’s how:

DIY Pop-Up Thank You Cards : wedding diy sacramento thank you Ty14

1. Trim liner to fit inside card as desired:

The front of a couple of our cards:

I recycled as many materials as I could from the wedding. The signs contributed much to this project:

I tried several looks before I ended up with the relatively-easy-to-mass-produce versions you see above. Sewing paper is a huge pain in the butt!

DIY Pop-Up Thank You Cards : wedding diy sacramento thank you Ty11 We sealed them with some leftover wedding stickers from my cousin’s wedding. :)

Paper is my least favorite craft so I procrastinated on these forever (in hindsight, I really should have outsourced this). It’s 5+ months after the wedding and I’m just now sending these out! I once heard that I had up to a year to send them out, so I’ve been holding on to that excuse all this time. It ain’t pretty, but it’s done! Woot!

When do you consider a TY card late? Are you giving yourself a time limit for sending out thank you cards?

Is this a Penguin post, or a Green Tea post?

I’ll try to do them all in a month, but if my semester gets too busy, it might be 3-4

Where’d you get those crafty ideas? Were they brewing (hehe) up in your own mind? :-)

Dang. I was going to write about my thank you cards, but now you just make mine look stupid. I mean they kind of were, stupidly simple, but that’s how I do things. You do things in the “super creative recycled chic” way.

I love the pop ups! These cards are so cute and I think 5 months after is perfectly okay. :)

Just an FYI – etiquette says you have a year to SEND a present. Thank you notes are expected to be sent promptly – although a grace period is acceptable for presents given at the wedding on account of the fact that nobody should have to write Thank You notes on their honeymoon. :)

very nice job – so simple but it looks so good. For handmade cards, i think you get 5 months no problem. I was so exhausted from making the invites, menu cards, programmes, replies etc. that I used some simple and pretty Thank You note cards that I picked up at Michaels (Brides Magazine line, I think).

We got married Sept 6th and we made it our mission to have the cards out before we sent the Christmas cards out….. so 3 months?

Those are so cute! And mine are written, but 3 months after the wedding we still have not handed some out (we are hand-delivering, just as we did with the invites).

Wow, I would’ve never come up with an idea like this. They look great! And I love that you were able to recycle paper and ribbon you used before.
