About Mrs. D'orsay

… when I A) am not sure myself anymore and, B) am 7,000 miles away from her? I scour the internet looking for purple bouquets. By scour I mean that I went through 5019 multi-coloured “purple” images on Project Wedding and a paltry 217 on The Knot. Where is the love for purple flowers people?

purple bouquets - by MsUsUk

Like Miss Perfume, I’ve gone in circles over what bouquets I like (we even have one of the same pics!). I began with wanting more structure, but for the bouquets to still be round-esque.

Like this one, but with deep purples and greens, and I wanted NO lavender…

Then, of course, I saw peonies.

You can bet your sweet bee bottom that I’ll be having feathers in my bouquet, but they probably won’t be ostrich, and I really can’t afford those peonies…

So I started thinking about a multi-coloured bouquet of purple, ivory, lavender, and bright greens (imagine less pink/more purple).

Next, I went all cymbiduim orchid on myself…

My current favourite—the kind that I now really, really want is this one, below:

Look at all that lavender… go figure.

Anyone else on the hunt for the perfect purple bouquet?

OMG, I’m second guessing my flower choices too. I feel like you in this post, only i’m looking for the perfect pink color (at an affordable price). BTW, I really love that last pic, the one you currently love.

I’m sure if you show the picture of that bouquet to your florist as well as the color of purple that you like, she/he will know what flowers to get that accommodates your interests.

I talked to a florist about get green flowers, and she was able to recommend a rose that was in the shade of green that I was considering.

From the picture of the hand-tyed bouquet, it looks like it has hydrangeas, roses, and berries…I searched for deep purple hydrangeas and roses, and I did see images of them in that color. So it looks like you most likely will be able to get a bouquet in purple instead of lavender.

I have a few purple, purple/green pics on my computer, but I don’t have most of their sources…not sure how to get them to you…I actually decided AGAINST dark purple for many reasons, one of which is it doesn’t photograph well…if you don’t want light purple (I didn’t!) sometimes a pomegranate color can be gorgeous mixed in, too

I too went scouring The Knot and googling purple flowers/bouquet. I thought I was being too picky about the style and size and shade of purple! Purple flowers are not easy to find! My florist and I had to make so many compromises due to my budget and the season. I love the tulips, roses, and calla lilies.

Here’s what I used:

Purple lisianthus flowers
Bluebird roses (hint of purple and blue roses)
Sweet peas
Mini calla lillies (white on the outside, but inside a deep purple)

I originally wanted some purple tulips and hyrdangeas. I couldn’t get the tulips since it was out of season and way too expensive to get if I really wanted it. The hydrangeas didn’t work out since it would wilt right away.

Good luck!!!
If you like, I can send you a picture of my bouquet.

Ranunculus come in a beautiful, dark aubergine color. I plan on using those in my bouquet! :)

OMG!!! I thought I was the only one. I have spent countless hours searching for purple flowers. I wanted a decor theme of purples, blues, and some lime green accent. But when it comes to my bouquet I am incredibly torn. I thought that I would have purple, but then the florist pointed out that the attention goes off you and to the flowers first, which utterly confused me. I mean, arent I paying all that money to have people look at the flowers?? So I am debating…I did find pictures of VAn Gogh calla lillies that are cream with purple centers, but I have no idea what price range they are in.

Umm - I’m just going to steal this post and run away with it, okay?? This is like the perfect post for me, my mom and I are trying to work on flowers now and I just had no clue where to start. Although my numero UNO bouquet is the one in the upper left hand corner of your collage — I just found it the other day and I saved it as “mybouquet.jpg” haha, dream dream. Thanks for sharing!

Have you seen the dark purple mini calla lilies?

I Love them!

They’re definitely not lavender and I think very beautiful - my maids carried them and I think they’d make a beautiful bridal bouquet too, but fuller like my all-white calla bouquet was

Here are some pics - my sister in law with the purple callas and a bridesmaid with my bouquet -

http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=f4qszp&s=5

http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2zexi82&s=5

I hope that’s not just one more choice! It is hard to decide but go with your gut, your initial feeling of what you want for your bouquet - I did and my bouquet was just right for me.

You could also try searching the photo sites: shutterfly, flickr etc for ‘ purple bouquet’ images

: )

I’m actually the opposite…I want the perfect blue bouquet and I’m finding lots of purple that have been coming up as “blue”!! I really have my heart set on hydrangeas, a full round bouquet of them. I just want to make sure they are blue and not “purple-blue”! :)

I have been looking for purple bouquets as well. The thing that helped me decide was that my florist asked to see what my dress looked like. Because I have beading and embroidery she suggested going more whites with purple accent so that the dress can be the center of attention. This is what really made me like her. I am sure that if you send her pics of your dress and the bridesmaids and maybe some other things you have picked out and the flowers you like a good florist should be able to help.

Since I know nothing about flowers, I just went to the florist for our first meeting with nothing and she started asking the questions. I ended up with something that I think will really like and that matched the image in my head (the one I didn’t even know was there). If you have a good florist they can really help with these kinds of problems (if you don’t have a good florist, I’m in the D.C. area and can give you mine’s name - she’s a little wacky but really good!).
