As you may recall, I had amazing guests and games at my bridal shower this past weekend. However, I didn’t tell you about the other two G’s: grub and gifts!
For as long as I can remember, sister Spring Roll and I have loved to bake and cook. We even took a cooking class together in high school. How does that relate to my shower, you ask? Well, we spent the night before and the morning of my bridal shower in the kitchen. Gladly so, as the guests really enjoyed the food.
We made my favorite truffles, of course.
And a few new goodies too, like fruit salsa and cinnamon chips.
My guests spoiled me with oodles of gifts, mainly of the kitchen type. Cookbooks, a George Foreman Grill, a hand mixer (for non-KitchenAid mixing), an electric can opener, and a food dehydrator, just to name a few. There were also some non-kitchen gifts, such as a Hello Kitty bag (two, actually), heating blankets, and a bathroom set. I love all of my gifts and can’t wait to use them.
On a side note, either mom SR is not so good at photography, or I’m a terrible model. Most of the photos turned out like this:

that fruit salsa and cinnamon chips looks soooo good!! I pretty much look like that in all my pictures too, but somehow I almost always have my head tilted back so I look weird…gotta practice my posing for the wedding!

And speaking of showers, here’s a general question for everyone. Do guests typically give gifts from your registry?? Or do they give whatever they please? I’m trying to figure out when I should have my registry done by!! My fiance put a condition on the registry: we’ve gotta hire all the vendors for the wedding before I can grab a registry gun!! :o(

@ DrDazey: I only give gifts from registries for the shower… or if I find fantastic basics (ie- white towels) which the couple hasn’t registered, I do buy & gift those too… I give cash-money for wedding gifts so it’s nice to buy something couples want for the shower

Yeah sure, we took a cooking class together but you made me do all of the dishes during that whole semester! :p

Your shower looks so fun! My mom makes those cinnamon chips/fruit salsa! I hope they make it for my shower, too.

@DrDazey: The majority of my shower gifts were off our registry.
@saramari: We did They are very easy to make; cut flour tortillas like a pizza (only way I could think to describe it) and place on a baking sheet, then brush melted butter on the tortillas and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, bake in the oven at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes.
i LOVE fruit salsa with cinnamon chips= but its not one of those foods i remember when preparing for a get together[- THANKS FOR THE REMiNDER!! I’m adding that to my list of foods to make for our couples night for valentines day weekend!
