“WHAT!?! I’m a bee!! Wait, stay calm, you are in public,” were my initial thoughts when I first received my Weddingbee acceptance as I was checking my email at work. Why Miss Duckling? I just thought the little ducky was so adorable from the first time Mrs. Bee debuted the new baby characters. Mr. Ducky even gave me a rubber duck a while ago to put in my bathtub since I use bubble baths to de-stress.
My Weddingbee addiction began the first time I visited the site to check out Mrs. Lemon’s wedding after my cousin’s recommendation. I’ve loved keeping up with all the bees’ planning and becoming a part of the fabulous hive community. I couldn’t be more honored to be the newest bee to the hive and I hope that I can live up to the talents and planning genius of previous bees.
Alright, now for some basic details on us and our wedding…
Mr. Duckling (a.k.a. Mr. Ducky) and I met my freshman year of college, but we didn’t become “us” until 2 years later, after I returned from a year abroad in London. Long story short, we started dating after reconnecting when I got back, and the rest is history. Mr. Ducky and I love to have fun, and in one another have found the person we can truly be ourselves with. He is the most loving and giving person and is a constant source of joy and support in my life. He’s in heaven at Home Depot/Apple Store and I find my bliss in Michaels. We decide many major decisions by best of 3 in Rock, Paper, Scissors. This is how we finally came to an agreement on the day of our first date. He won.
I’m in my last semester of grad school for Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Hopefully along with all of our wedding planning details, I’ll also be able to share some of my relationship knowledge I’ve learned while in school. I think that psychology goes along with the craziness of wedding planning, relationships, and change pretty well.
Mr. Ducky and I both live in Orange County, but are planning our wedding not too far away in San Diego (where I am from). The goal and hope of the wedding is to have our guests walk away feeling like they know us better and that they were able to celebrate and be a part of our day. Our wedding will be rustic and simple with whimsical and romantic details. We have lots of DIY planned with my crafting skills and Mr. Ducky’s graphic design and techie expertise.
I can’t wait to get to know you all and support one another through this crazy and exciting time in life!

Welcome Miss Duckling! I too am a Psych Grade Student. Actually, the FI is also a Psych Grade student. So glad to see good representation. I too am having an SD wedding and planning from afar (Chicago actually). Can’t wait to read and hear more about your planning.

@E: I don’t mind sharing at all. I go to Pepperdine’s Irvine campus. It’s a night program, and they also have campuses in West LA and Encino. You can take classes at your own pace, I’ve taken a pretty heavy load and finished in 2 years, but other just take a class or 2 at a time.
If you are looking for more a full day-time structured program, Pepperdine also has their Malibu program. I’ve really liked the program and I’ve still been able to work and make a living while going to school, which was essential. Which programs are you looking at?

I just had a thought..I have to find the picture, but maybe one of the ring shots for your wedding can now use rubber duckys! The one I’m thinking of I think the boy ducky had glasses and a tie, I can’t remember what the girl one was wearing, though.

I hope you are planning on writing some posts using your marriage and family therapy skills because it would be nice to not feel like we are all stumbling around trying to figure things out all the time through discussion, you know? I’d love to hear about case studies and things that have worked through other couples. (But maybe that is just me?)
