Miss Champagne, DC/Vail/Colorado Age and Occupation: 26, Eye Doctor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Attorney Engagement Date: March 13, 2006 Wedding Date: February 2009 Blogging Since: July 30, 2008 Venue: Small church ceremony with mountain-view log cabin reception About Me: I'm a small town mountain girl with a city heart. Found my way to the east coast, and Mr. Champagne kept me here so we're planning a wedding from afar in my hometown Vail, Colorado. I'm secretly obsessed with reality TV, Wii games where I can shoot a gun, country music, and Caesar: Dog Whisperer. I also spend time pretending to golf, backseat driving, having one way conversations with our MinPin Maxwell, loving champagne, and wedding perfecting… I mean, planning. I use way too many repeated symbols and letters when I write, and I'll love Mr. Champagne endlessly…

Something Borrowed From a Bee

February 6th, 2009 @ 11:57 am by Mrs. Champagne

So for those of you who don’t know, Mrs. Tiramisu and I are buds. We were friends during her planning process, and she’s to blame for my Weddingbee addiction. She even attended my bachelorette party which I never blogged about, because, well… I had too much champagne. ;)

See? Isn’t she cute?

Anyhoo… in preparation for the wedding, I’ve gathered my something (or two somethings) old:

My grandmother Hazel’s jacket:

And my Grandmother Susie’s jacket:

I figure I’ll sort of alternate between the two—it’ll be fun, and most of all—warm!

So when I asked Mrs. Tiramisu about her something old, new, borrowed, and blue, she offered the bracelet she wore during her own wedding to be my something borrowed.

Here’s a reminder of what it looked like on her big day:

I love how happy she looks in this picture. :) Here’s a close up of the bracelet:

So pretty!! Thanks, Mrs. Tiramisu—I can’t wait to wear my something borrowed. Maybe we should start a bee tradition of passing something along!

What is your something borrowed and who did you borrow it from?

That would be such a cute “something borrowed” tradition amongst bees!

I think the bracelet and shrugs are lovely! I really like the tradition because in June I’ll be near both you!

I’m borrowing a strand of my mother’s pearls. Her siblings gave it to her when she graduated from college, and she plans to pass it on to me. I’m so excited to be wearing a family heirloom on my wedding day.

My “something borrowed” may actually be my wedding gown. I was MOH in my best friend’s wedding last year, and we are the SAME SIZE. She offered up her gown when I got married. Said it would be like “passing it along to her sister”. So cool. I haven’t decided if I’m using it or not, but I’m leaning that way. Plus, it means I could buy designer shoes guilt-free…..

Hm… I could’ve sworn I just commented. Except I wasn’t logged in! Oh well… if that Amy T comment shows up after I submit this, just know it was moi ;-)

Wierd… I wonder what I did. OK, anyway, as I was saying…

My “something borrowed” may end up being my wedding dress. My best friend got married last year, and I was her MOH. We’re super-close, and have always considered each other family. Well, when I got engaged, she offered up her dress. We’re the same size, and have the same taste in fashion. Haven’t decided if I’m going to accept yet or not, but I’m leaning that way. :-)

Gorgeous bracelet, and how fun that it’s from Tiramisu!

I’m so glad you decided to wear both shrugs :)
I loved Mrs Tiramisu’s bracelet and I loved that she is letting you borrow it :)
I also think that is a great tradition to start amongst the Bees.

How cool…and such a beautiful bracelet! I’m jealous.

I haven’t though of what my “borrowed” item will be yet. At my bestest’s wedding, we were minutes before the ceremony till we realized she didn’t have anything borrowed, so I gave her my anklet. Maybe I’ll just wait till the last minute and see what turns up. :)

I am borrowing my mother’s diamond necklace, which her father gave her. In fact, it could count as my something old, too! :-)

I am borrowing my Great Aunts rosary with blue beads to go around my bouquet handle, from my Mum and Dad. So it covers my something Old, borrowed and blue all at once! I think that the Bee-borrowing tradtion sounds like a fab idea too!

I went super green and borrowed my actual wedding dress from a bridesmaid’s sister in law. It was beautiful, I was only wearing it once, and spent the money in other areas I would have had to cut back on.

Aww, I love the idea of that becoming tradition too- very cute!:) You are both adorable!

I want to be a bee so I can wear Mrs. Seabreeze headpiece! Well, that’s not the only reason.

I love love love this idea of passing things from Bee to Bee. There are definitely some things I would love to have been gutsy enough to “borrow” from some others. I wish I was living with all of my wedding stuff so I could offer to loan out something of mine (it feels silly to type it because it feels like I am being presumptuous to assume that anyone would want to borrow something of mine), but I guess if it is free, who is going to pass that up?

I’m sure other bee exchanges have happened in the past I wonder what they were?

My something borrowed will probably be my veil - my niece/MOH got married last July and I love her veil. Since we pass clothing/purses/everything else back & forth (okay, maybe I end up with most of it), that will probably be it.
