Me: Do you think we should try to do our own calligraphy?
Mr Piggy: Oh I took calligraphy classes in high school. I can do it.
Me: (1 week later) Hey! I bought a cheap calligraphy set. I’ll start practicing.
Mr Piggy: Here here here, give it to me. I’ll show you. I’m gooooood. You angle the pen like this. See?
Me: (peeking at his writing) What’s that say on the bottom?
Mr Piggy: My name. Mrrr Pig. Mrrrr Pig. Mrrr Pig. Mrrr Pig.
Me: Umm. I’m going to practice. Maybe you should, too.
To Miss Kitten’s point in her recent post, I love that Mr P is so involved with the wedding planning; hoooweeverrr, I’m not sure if calligraphy will be one of his responsibilities. 
Has your fiance volunteered for a wedding task that you wished you’d have just done yourself?

I had the exact same conversation with my fiance! He thinks that he will be able to address the invitations because he took calligraphy in H.S. too!! I haven’t tried to see how his is yet ! Good luck with that!!!
I was just looking at a Martha Stewart tutorial on calligraphy, thinking it would be so fun if I could figure out how to do it. I just don’t know how quickly I can learn to do it and make it look good. I’ll have expectations of it looking like Laura Hooper’s and end up with a messy ink splotches.
Did their high schools offer a calligraphy CLASS?? And the guys all took it? Sounds so strange to me

of all the wedding tasks the bf would volunteer for, i know without a shadow of a doubt that addressing the envelopes will NOT be one of them. he doesn’t have chicken scratch handwriting but it ain’t pretty. lol
I could never ask my guy to do that! His own signature is a bunch of loops. My son called it “scribble scrabble”.
alas, T will NOT be doing any envelopes in the near or far future.

That was such a cute story, Miss Piggy. I wish I could do calligraphy. I didn’t know they offer classes on calligraphy in high school!
So cute for his trying! I can’t think of anything my Mr. tried to do that I wish I had. He’s pretty detail oriented, so everything he touches usually turns out great.
So cute! Mr. SR definitely did not do any calligraphy, his handwriting is terrible (even when he tries really hard).
Mr Corn addressed every one of our inner envelopes…he has never taken calligraphy, but his handwriting is worlds better than mine so we went with his.

My fiance has volunteered to choose the beer and wines — and I am totally happy to manage the rest!
Well, he likes to be involved but not exactly when the involvement needs to happen. His first job was at a printing house so he’s great with envelope sizes, stuffing, and postage. Almost.
I asked him to pick up the postage and showed him the cute heart stamps. “Good?” “Yup, I got it!” When he got home (from a 20 hr day poor guy), he ran in with stamps in hand exclaiming “I got them! On my lunch break!” I stared at his eager face and then the stamps. They were not hearts. Not a flower. Not even a flag. It looked like some kind of battleground. I felt so bad saying “babe, we can’t use those” and he knew. They were out of heart stamps but in guy world he had stamps that would technically get save the dates from point A to B. He went to another post office and bought the heart stamps.
The things he’s really good at come in to play later: he’s great at logistics, lighting, hanging things, how furniture works within a space. Also fab at scouting locations. Negotiating, web stuff and creative? All me but helpful with DIY (with a watchful eye).
I took a copperplate calligraphy class from Paper-Source and it was fantastic! It’s $55, which may seem steep for one 4-hour class, but the instructor was very good. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to do their own calligraphy but can’t quite figure out from learning on her/his own.
Sorry but I think it’s such a waste of time to hand write envelops. You can find nice calligraphy-like fonts online and print
LOL, FH said he could calligraphy too b/c he also took it in high school! Luckly one of my BM is a calligraphy artists and has offered… PHEW!
Aww… that’s adorable that he wanted to help with it though. I think he deserves a hug. haha.
this is hilarious! my fi is helping everywhere even to the bridesmaid dresses - it’s awesome! haha i’m going to see if he has a talented calligraphy hand
