Sometimes You Need an Alchemist

February 9th, 2009 @ 6:29 pm by Mrs. D'orsay

Many of you suggested I post in Etsy’s alchemy section to see if I could find an artist to create those elusive feather fans I was looking for. Then I found this photo on Project Wedding:

Sometimes You Need an Alchemist : wedding baltimore crafts Il 430x059

(source)

Not only do I think it is completely adorable, I also love the little posy on the side. It’s a fan I could really see gifting to my girls.

Also, the posies could be personalized to each fan. This vintage beauty had already been sold, so I contacted the creator. Cindi at Brass Paperclip has already started the hunt for those hard to find “not too wide” fan staves with snappy sass.

Have you ever used Etsy Alchemy for an item you couldn’t find?

Ok… first off, my mom is throwing us a Jack and Jill/Couple’s shower. I have somehow taken on the invitation expense since there are roughly 70 people on our list. So, for a cheaper yet more personal option, we just alchemied (?!) our invitations for our shower.

We are going with an adorable design made by the graphic genius of Lindsey Ryan Designs. 60 invitations for $30+ shipping. GLORIOUS.

YES! After posting about what I wanted for my invitations, someone recommended the Alchemy option on Etsy! It’s awesome! And you can get such great prices for customized things! How can you beat that?

Anyway, I love your feather fan idea–looking forward to seeing it come to fruition! So did you post on Alchemy? With this picture?

I found the creator and wrote her with what I was looking for. instead of posting in alchemy. It was just that I saw the photo and felt like “yes! that is exactly what I’m looking for!” I guess its more like I alchy-stalked her?

I can’t wait to see your invites, I tried paper cutting for the valentine swap and boy is it time consuming (and a bit painful). :)

I’ve used Alchemy, and loooove it! Etsy sellers are by and large an infinitely charming bunch, and very eager to help those looking for items. I definitely recommend it!

And what a gorgeous fan! :)
