About Mrs. Duckling

I love taking pictures. When I studied in Europe for a year I took thousands of pictures. Can you imagine what it was like to travel with me? Ask any of my regular travel buddies and they will probably roll their eyes when you mention me and my camera. Well, everyone appreciated it in the end and we have some awesome pictures despite frequent picture breaks. For our wedding we want to incorporate lots of personal touches, and one of the ways to do that is with pictures.

We have not decided what exactly to incorporate, but there are so many ways to use your own photos on the wedding day. We want our guests to walk away from our wedding with the feeling that they know us just a little bit better and it was not just a party, but a personal celebration.

Here are some of the ideas I love so far:

I think decks of cards with personal photos could be great gifts for your bridesmaids or groomsmen. They would be a fun addition to any out of town bag for people who are traveling and need something extra to do.

These kisses are precious! Imagine these at your candy bar or inside cute little favor boxes at the table.

Photo confetti is a unique idea. It might make quite a mess, but the miniature photos are too cute. They could be sprinkled at the guest book table, dessert table or wherever else you desire.

I love the photo screen or the string of pictures on display for your guests. I think this is such a perfect way to incorporate photos of family and friends to make your guests a part of the day. I might do something like this and display it during the cocktail hour, as it will be fun for people to look through the pictures and could create a conversation starter as old memories are brought up.

Look at the latest way to personalize M&Ms! I know we are using M&Ms, so we could personalize the M&Ms with a picture! Although, I’m not sure if I want people to be eating something with my face on it…

I know that for our thank-you cards I want to incorporate a wedding picture. Obviously we wont be writing thank-you cards for a while, but I am thinking ahead.

How fun are photo stickers! You could use these almost anywhere and even incorporate your monogram.

We know we want to incorporate pictures in our table numbers. I want to frame them in some sort of rustic frame and have a description of what is happening in the picture. Mr. Ducky had the idea to name the tables after different dates or significant places in our relationship. So, it’s a DIY project in the works that I will keep you updated on. But below are a few ideas that we could possibly combine…

I don’t really have a photo example of this, but Mr. Ducky will also be creating a slideshow and video to show at the wedding. This will be a great way to use our own pictures and share with our guests about our history and relationship. He is a techie wiz, so hopefully I’ll be able to have him make a tutorial for those of us that are not technically inclined.

How are you using pictures at your wedding?

For the photo thank you card, I bought a real cool Thank You parasol from I DO originals, I think it’ll make for some cute pics at our beach wedding!

I don’t know if you were reading Weddingbee at the time, but I attempted to re-create that photo screen and have a little tutorial on how I did so :) http://www.weddingbee.com/2008/10/27/photo-decor-wedding/

What fun ideas! Our wedding ‘theme’ is photos so I will definitely be drawing on this one! :)

Another idea we plan to use - old photos of guests as escort cards! If you don’t recognize yourself you don’t get to eat! ;)

The photo thank you card is such a great idea. And relatively inexpensive at Kinkos. If you have an Adobe Photoshop program, which I recommend having for pictures in general, they are super easy. Mr. Doodle Bug and I made Christmas cards this year. People loved them. It’s such a personal touch. Love all these ideas.

i made “love trees.” i asked my florist to place branches in vases and i hung our childhood photos and couple photos on them. my florist added stems of flowers too to match our theme, it was lovely and i think our guests really liked them.

The deck of cards is a great idea to include in the OOT bags! We’ll definitely be taking a pictorial trip down memory lane with our slide show and perhaps the table numbers as well. :)

I love the deck of cards idea — so unique! And it would be so cute if you were having a breaking-the-bank out of town bag!

I love these ideas! I totally agree with you about the M&Ms — it would be sorta weird to have our guests eating something with our heads on it! :)

I love pictures too! We are using our parents’ and grandparent’s wedding pictures on our guest book table. Our guest book is a photobook from snapfish.com. For our table numbers, we are using pictures of our adorable dogs. Our save the dates were little books about our relationship and the front cover featured a picture of us. We are having a slideshow of us growing up and then dating. I hope people won’t be too photo’d out, but it’s also a fun way for them to get to know us a little better and share in the joy!
