About Mrs. Apple Cider

When we decided on the location for our wedding, I have to say the name “Blueberry Villa” totally sold the place for me. I spent most of my summers around blueberry farms (near White Lake, NC) and love everything blueberry. My grandfather used to take my sister and me blueberry picking and many of my family members insisted on blueberry pies for their birthday cakes. The Blueberry Villa is on the grounds of the Banner Elk Winery, and yes, they even make blueberry wine!

Here are some pictures from a recent visit to the location with my mom, sister and BFF and bridesmaid, Jaime.

This is the villa where 16 people will stay. This will be the lodging for my side of the bridal party and my mom.

This is the property! This picture was taken exactly one year before our date, and the leaves are just starting to turn.

This is where everyone will roast their S’mores! (Yes, I did say S’mores… there will be a S’mores table and an apple cider table!!!)

This is the path I will walk down to meet my groom.

I couldn’t be happier with the location and the management there. It will be warm, inviting, romantic and fun. Check out some of the other weddings that were held there!

What “sold” you on your wedding venue?

I love how bright and sunny it is! Will the ceremony and reception be during the day, or in the evening? And what do you plan to do in the event of inclement weather?

That’s so lovely! Are you going to work blueberries into your favors?

Your space is SO gorgeous…just beautiful.

What sold us was two things. First we wanted to ‘trick’ ourselves and our guests into thinking they were at a destination other than SE MI. Meaning, we wanted a Mountain Lodge, wilderness feeling whilst staying close to home. And two, our ceremony site is a most favorite park of ours and the reception site was gifted to us (minus food and bar) from a friend. This allowed us to stay true to our “not spending a fortune on a day” ways.

It looks gorgeous! Our wedding venue over looks our alma mater, where we met. That was definitely the big seller!

We haven’t chosen a location yet. :( I wish we had something like that here. It seems that all we have in Atlanta is big, old, Gone With the Wind style mansions.

I LOVE Banner Elk. I spent a lot of time in N. Wilkesboro and Boone growing up and my fiance went to school at App State… so Banner Elk is close to our hearts. Good luck!
