Mrs. Kitten's Picture
Mrs. Kitten, Austin/Grand Cayman Age and Occupation: 25, Law Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Dental Student Engagement Date: October 19, 2006 Wedding Date: April, 2009 Venue: The Grand Old House, Grand Cayman About Me: In 2009 I will get married (after a two and a half year engagement!), become an Army wife, graduate from law school, take the bar, move from Austin to Washington, D.C., and start my career as a lawyer! With all this going on, Mr. Kitten and I decided to have a tropical, "stress-free" destination wedding. Nevertheless, my micromanaging, detail-oriented, perfectionist side has prevailed---I am currently obsessed with every last detail of my "stress-free" destination wedding! But most of all, I'm beyond excited to become Mrs. Kitten on a fabulous Caribbean vacation surrounded by my friends and family!

The Ring!

February 10th, 2009 @ 12:22 pm by Mrs. Kitten

The Ring! : wedding rings 113 1

Now that I’ve shared my engagement story, it’s time to see the bling! I’ve been engaged for over two years and have never really taken pictures of my ring. I know nothing about photography and didn’t know how to photograph my ring without it looking like a huge white blur, until Mrs. Avocado and Anne Ruthmann’s tutorials came along! And I kind of cheated, I had a friend who had already taken some beautiful ring shots of her own come over and help me! We didn’t use a tripod or any special equipment, just a pashmina and my roommate’s desk lamp! Someday Mr. Kitten and I want to buy a real camera, but here is what I came up with using my handy digital camera!

The Ring! : wedding rings 210 2

The Ring! : wedding rings 34 3

The Ring! : wedding rings 44 4

As you can see, we used a random assortment of household products as props—candy, straws, a cork, and a tea tin, just to name a few.

Have you taken ring shots yet? What kind of props did you use?

I love it! Amazing photo and gorgeous ring! I had really wanted a vintage style ring like this, but I’m still happy with the choice Mr. Stiletto made :)

Its a beauty and a half!
I should really get off my lazy meat and take some good pics of mine, too.

@bellenga: No it’s a regular diamond, but my lighting was making everything turn out a little yellowy!

I also have to credit the friend who read all the photo tutorials and helped set up my ring shots. Thanks Indiebride! Here is the link to hers–I LOVE the one with the blackberry!

Beautiful ring, love the vintage feel of it! I sure did take photos, they actually started of the ring shots on here and I was “the bride” who asked Anne Ruthmann to give us some pointers on taking pictures. Here’s mine on Weddingbee: http://www.weddingbee.com/2008/12/16/ring-shots/
