About Mrs. Stiletto

And So It Begins…

February 11th, 2009 @ 6:40 pm by Mrs. Stiletto

We’ve been planning our wedding for almost a year now, and we still have about 7 months to go. Through this time, the plans have been growing and changing, as we’ve gone on a rollercoaster ride from themes, to favors, to guestbooks. The one thing that has stayed constant throughout it all is our color scheme.

I wanted something that Mr. Stiletto could jump on board with. No “dusty rose” or “perfect peach” for us. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good shade of pink, and sometimes when I see a picture of a lush pink bouquet, a little bit of jealousy creeps in. But overall, I wanted to keep it high contrast, fresh and modern. And, of course, on a small budget, a black and white color scheme works wonders. There’s no need to be matching certain shades of a specific color that only I really care about. What’s there to match when it comes to black and white?!

For a little fun, we’re incorporating some green into the mix. Some may call it “emerald” and others “kelly”, but in my vocabulary, it’s “grass”. A bright pop of grass green here and there is exactly what I think will make this wedding fun, without going overboard.

Our inspiration board continues to change day in and day out, but the time is starting to tick down (finally!) to our September 2009 wedding, and I’m frazzled just thinking about the work to be done in the months ahead!

Did you begin your planning process with an inspiration board? If you could describe your inspiration board in 10 words or less, how would you describe it?

This reminds me of a black + white damask bridal shower I saw on Jennifer Skog’s blog. Check it out: http://jenniferskog.wordpress.com/2007/06/06/the-most-amazing-bridal-shower/

I love the colors, they are very fresh! Our color scheme is ever-evolving. Ours can only be described as “ever-changing!” I am so indecisive!

I love the black and white party dress. I’m really looking forward to buying a rehearsal dinner dress. :-)

@fifisweet:
That’s what my bridesmaids are wearing…I’m sooo jealous that I didn’t buy the dress myself for fun. It even has pockets, so fab!

@EAQ219:
Oh so fabulous that we have the same colors..I’d love to hear your ideas and how you’re incorporating the green (I’m struggling with that…possibly why bouquets for the maids w/ looped lilly grass - have you checked that out?)

@Miss Peep Toe:
Ha, I thought of those when I first saw your icon :) Not all of the maids are psyched about wearing the green shoes but I love ‘em (and I did buy a pair for myself…fab-u-lous! Can’t wait for winter to be over so I can wear ‘em!)

These are my colors too! I am trying to mix in a couple of different greens (lime and “kelly”) with the black and white…I think your plan sounds great! Do you actually have those shoes?? I’ve been searching the web high and low for the last few weeks for a pair that I like and can afford!

@jomygoodness:
Ooh I know I looove those pictures of her shower! Swoon. Can’t get enough damask.

@MagPie518:
I know! Unfortunately this inspiration board is a little out of date and we’ve dropped the typewriter guest book :( Had to let Mr. Stiletto win on something! But I do have the L-O-V-E typewriter keys for the bouquet…so excited about that ingenious idea of Lovebug’s!

I have the same color scheme (but I’ve also added pops of orange in addition to the green)! I, like you, think its simple and modern. I can’t wait to see what you’ve come up with! And the place cards in the grass-totally doing that!

We are also doing black and white damask with green accents! We’re still a long way out so I haven’t figured out all the ways that I will be incorporating green yet. I’m probably going to go with black BM dresses, but maybe a green sash would be nice. And black suits or tuxes for the guys, with a green tie? That idea just came to me, not sure how it would look! Good luck with your planning, I look forward to reading more of your posts!

It’s lovely - reminds me of Mrs Pomegranate’s wedding too.

Ya know, I never did get around to making an inspiration board… well, not one outside my head anyway. I sorta wish I had, if even only for my scrapbook.
